My Story: Short Fat Italian
Pre-OpLoser619 replied to gustavo52974's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So glad to hear you are doing well! I'm still waiting on my surgery and hoping to be done by halloween. I'm from a big italian family here in kansas and I became addicted to pasketti lol at an early age. Then you always got the lecture about cleaning your plate etc. I never cared for lasagna or sausage either. I've been doing good pre-op staying away from the pasta but I know I'll be craving it after. That stinks that you can only have protein shakes right now when theres so much more you could be eating to break up the monotony! I wish you the best of luck and I'm sure you'll do great! -

31 July Getting Sleeved

You are welcome! Best of luck to you too... I'm sure you'll do fine. -
Smart water is really good for you! Expensive but good. It's like gatorade (electrolytes) but without everything else you don't need!

31 July Getting Sleeved
Pre-OpLoser619 replied to perthsleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do a search on pre-op diet and should find a wealth of info. I'm basically getting myself prepared by changing my habits over to those I'll need after surgery: protein first, incorporating protein shakes, lots of water (don't drink with meals), walking 30 mins/day. Hoping this will make the transition easier! -
September/october Sleevers ?

I have definitely tossed the idea around. I too like the accountability as well as possibly being to help someone else with their decision, experience, etc. I've told my mom and dad, my husband, but not really anyone else, although my friends and family on facebook know that I have been dieting and I've been sharing my losses with them... So I just might start recording soon (pre-op diet) and post them after I have it.
-
The other option would be to record them but maybe hold off on posting them until you are sure you want it out there...

Any September People

After eating better (better portions and better quality food) I can't eat mcdonalds and stuff anymore. I ate half of my daughters mcdouble and I paid for it severely! Kinda nice actually, not what happened, but that I can't tolerate that food any longer. -

High C-Reactive Protein Level... Anyone Else?
Pre-OpLoser619 replied to bluelemons's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is constantly high, as is my esr or sed rate... They both are markers for inflammation in the body. I would imagine you can still have surgery as long as all your other tests come back ok. They think mine are related to fibromyalgia and/or an autoimmune issue... But it can be caused by any type of inflammation. Good luck and let us know what he says! -
Protein Shakes?
Pre-OpLoser619 replied to Changing B4YourEyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just an fyi... Many post sleevers will tell you that your tastes will change after surgery so dont invest all your money in something you like now for after surgery because you may not like it after. Just thought I'd throw that out there. -

Drinking Water And Staying Hydrated
Pre-OpLoser619 replied to nydia33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it's alot more expensive but smart water is really great! It has electrolytes like gatorade but none of the other stuff... Just another idea for you fellas working outside. -
Right? People have turned into carb-aphobes. I think as long as you put protein first you're fine. My diet right now is 50% carbs, 25% protein & 25% fat (now, I am working to change that) but I'm still losing 1-2lbs/wk... It all depends on the type of carbs, etc.

If you got a bad enough ulcer in your stomach it could leak without any surgery... I imagine there is a slight risk for just about anything that can happen. I wouldn't stress on it. Just my opinion.

Anyone Getting Or Been Sleeved In Kansas
Pre-OpLoser619 replied to msstori's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally don't know specifics... But I think it can be like alot of hospitals where it depends on who is working to what kind of care/response you get. There's another person who posted on here that might be able to give specifics. -

How Many Rows Of Sutures On The Sleeve
Pre-OpLoser619 replied to mufasas-mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as I know there is a zipper effect of staples. One row that closes your new stomach and one row that closes the old stomach that they remove. Sometimes I've heard of surgeons also suturing over the staples that remain just for extra stability to the closure.
