Is this too much food 3 1/2 weeks out?
Morgandobes replied to Morgandobes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone, I am SO ready to start solid foods. Have a good weekend, Lisa -
Made this this morning, stuck it in the blender and made it the consistency (sort of) of a cream Soup. Used the recipe on the back of the Lentil package, included 3 beef hot dogs instead of the 1 lb of sausage. Also threw in a can of fire roasted tomatoes. Only used 1/2 the bag of lentils though. It made 7 plastic containers of about 10 oz each, very yummy and very filling! 2 onions chopped(used dried and estimated) 2 cloves garlic minced(used powdered, estimated) 1 cup carrots, sliced or chopped 3 beef hot dogs 1/2 lb lentils 4 cups chicken or veggie broth 1 can fire roasted tomatoes 1 tsp dried sage 1 tsp dried thyme 1/4 tsp oregano 1/4 tsp black pepper(or to taste) 1 tsp salt Browned up dried onions, and hot dogs till a little browned, threw the rest of the stuff in and let it cook until the lentils were very soft, maybe 2 hours. Added salt and pepper to taste and stuck it in the blender. Total of about 1370 calories/7 containers = 195 calories for about 9 ounces of soup. Lisa

If your doc is worried about it he can call in something for nausea too. I have a pill that goes under the mouth to control nausea. Lisa

7 days post-op Crampy feeling mid tummy
Morgandobes posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all I am 7 days post op and feeling pretty good. I did notice yesterday that I am getting this crampy feeling sort of between my ribs and a bit on the right under my ribcage, and it extends down towards my belly button. I'm not running a temp or anything, i took a walk this morning to see if it was gas, but its still there. Bearable but worrisome. Any ideas? Thanks, LIsa -
Wow, that really sucks! With your positive, bullish attitude, you will get there soon. Keep us posted!

Nervous about pre-op diet
Morgandobes replied to Donna4545's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your doc tell you no snacking? Is he trying to keep you very low carb, or are the shakes like slimfast or something? Lisa -
Antidepressants?
Morgandobes replied to Morgandobes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for the helpfull replies. I crushed one yesterday and it was GROSS..lol. But at least I got it down. I worry about my little tummy leaking, so I am trying to stick to the rules as closely as I can. I will try to keep getting it down with a little yogurt, then start the pills regular form when I got to mushies. I didnt know that stopping them like that could cause a rebound effect, thats good to know. Thanks, Lisa -
When did u start mushies?
Morgandobes replied to sam30204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might also check out the recipes section to see if you can find something that will qualify as a full liquid, lots of good recipes there including a list of shakes/smoothies Lisa -
Mine disappeared for a day or two after surgery, but is back with a vengeance.

When did u start mushies?
Morgandobes replied to sam30204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1 day of nothing by mouth, 2 days clears and then 10 days full liquids. Mushies after that for me. Couldent you make some thin oatmeal and put it in a blender? Or maybe cream of wheat? I made some lentil Soup yesterday and stuck it in the blender. It was awesome after so long on bland foods. -
Painful to drink/eat? How sore after surgery?
Morgandobes replied to mrsv825's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience was similar to Swany's I did have trouble sleeping on my sides for the first night or two, but liquid tylenol pretty quickly dampened down the pain. I had surgery on wednesday, was release thursday and was up and doing the things I had the energy for on friday. Saturday was good and now, 6 days post op, I have almost no pain. Certainly nothing to keep me from doing pretty much what I want while still following docs orders(no lifting, strenuous exercies, etc). The big thing for me was no energy. I had 3 days fulls, 2 days clears post op, then nothing by mouth until the following friday which was then just a few sips. Still dont have tons of energy, but very little pain, you should be ok. -

Satiety from Jello?
Morgandobes replied to Morgandobes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, that makes sense, because the Jello did nothing for me. I did try some hot and sour Soup minus the 'stuff' that definitely did fill me up because of the thicker consistency maybe? It was nice to feel full. Thanks Tiffykins -
Hi Guys I was sleeved last wednesday. Today I am on Clear liquids, and I was wondering..should I be feeling satiety on Jello? I just ate one of those small jellos that you can pick up in a eight pack at the store and cant really tell if it did anything for my fullness factor. Not sure if the discomfort from the surgery is blocking any 'fullness' feelings, or if the jello just liquifies to the point where it might as well be kool-aid. tia, Lisa

Nature's Best Isopure Protein Drinks
Morgandobes replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought one two bottles of this today. One is blue raspberry. It has an odd aftertaste after the kool-aid taste goes away. Its nice that it has so much Protein packed in, but the bottle is good sized, 20oz, so it would take a while to get through it. Not sure if I will finish the one I opened today or not. Lisa -
Band to Sleeve Question - Federal BCBS insurance
Morgandobes replied to sbingram12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it took like 3 days. Which is still pretty decent turnaround, good luck to you! As far as having the band out, the big thing is your doc showing medical necessity. And the key to that is to get a doc who has done quite a few so they can slant the wording a bit if you need it. Cause its money in their pocket too. Lisa -
Band to Sleeve Question - Federal BCBS insurance
Morgandobes replied to sbingram12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi I had my band removed using Anthem-bcbs which is what my work has. But they wouldent cover the sleeve. So, I am secondarily covered thru my husbands insurance, and the approval went right thru the first time. Weird thing is, my docs insurance person called one of the case-nurses when we were first planning on submitting the claim, and she told us that they rarely covered the sleeve as a one part procedure, that it was hard to get thru. So, to get a denial letter and a base for an appeal, we put the application thru. It sailed right through, without a second glance from federal bcbs. There is a thread in the insurance section about this topic also. Lisa -
Hi all I have finally joined y'all on the losers bench. I am having serious food dreams. My surgery was wednesday, I had nothing by mouth yesterday and some small sips today. My last solid food was a week ago yesterday. Getting these really hard, crampy hungry feelings from my stomach. I get to go on Clear liquids tommorrow and 'full' liquids on sunday including pudding and yogurt. I am SO ready! I keep ending up on the food channel today on tv, watching shows about 17inch long burritos and 3 lb cinnamon rolls... I guess full liquids for 10 days and then soft foods after that. Glad to hear my june sleeve sisters are doing well. Lisa

June 2010 Sleevers...JUMP ON BOARD THE LOOSERS WAGON!
Morgandobes replied to mp8btpc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone, checking in, 3 days post op and feeling pretty good. I will say one thing..doc gave me the pain killer stadol which you spray in your nose. I noticed when I had my lapband removed, this medication waas very bitter and would drip down the back of my throat and leave a taste. So for my sleeve surgery I skipped it and went straight to the liquid tylenol which works awesome. Gas is mostly gone, except for my stomach is pissed and is giving me diahhrea. Nothing by mouth on thursday, a few(maybe a doze) small sips yesteGrday, today onto clears, tommorrow onto full liquids, 10 days on to mushies. Looking forward to some refried Beans with a tiny bit of cheese! Cheers! Lisa -
