    Jerks.

I don't blame you for being upset you were totally justified. Not because you expect the world to change for you. we all know it is up to us as individuals but because you have a "friendly coworker relationship with these females" You asked and they agreed. It is normal to expect people we are on good terms with to be understanding and follow through with their agreements. Luckily I don't have this issue as the company not only provides an appropriate place to eat lunch and take breaks but you are actually not allowed to eat at your desk/station. Of course we are not allowed to smack people upside the head who are rude or ungracious so I think you handled it appropriately.
  2. oh thank you for clarifying, I was really hoping she was relating a memory and had recovered. I am so sorry your going through this and hope and pray the doctors will find the answer for you.
  3. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am sending out prayers of comfort and healing. I wish I could say your story was unbelievable but being a nurse myself I see and understand the multiple mistakes and lack of follow through in the health care industry on a daily basis. I notice you said you had surgery in 2008. What is your current health status today?
  4. I currently take a centrum one a day chewable multi-vitamin. I think I read I should start taking vitamin c now for wound healing. What vitamins do you all take on a daily, brand too if you will
  5. is it because you fill up on liquids and will not get your Protein in? or liquid makes the food go down easier and you will eat too much?
  6. ah thank you, I tried not to drink tonight with dinner, i think that will be a challenging rule for me so am trying to get used to it now
  7. I am sorry both you and mizzliz83 are having this difficulty. I am sending out positive thoughts of healing and health. I have not been sleeved yet but based on reading tons of posts it seems as if everyone heals differently and at different rates. I hope things start getting better each day for you.

    Ideas For Puree Stage?

I haven't even had surgery yet and I am worried about the pureed part of post-op diet. I use to work at a skilled nursing facility when I was a teen and looking at those globs of pureed food was enough to make me ill. Totally NOT appetizing. I know I can do pudding, cottage cheese, tuna but meats??Please tell me by the time you get to pureed you will eat anything?

    How Are You Preparing?

I don't have a surgery date yet, my consult with surgeon is 9/11. However I have made a list of things I want to stockpile based on the posts here. I decided after my little poll on here to order the ninja and I just bought a super wide, super comfy, electric recliner.
  10. the authorization for my surgeon consult. I already did 6 months of classes, met with nutritionist, attended seminar, attended support group, attended 5 classes on WLS and completed psych eval.............I am getting closer..............................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Thinking about post op soft foods, purees etc...which kitchen gadget was most helpful in your journey, brand name suggestions appreciated.
  12. wow what a surprise! Of course it will take you time to process and then the excitement will kick in..just had this happen to my daughter and a coworker, both after 14 years since babies. You have started such good habits and if you nurse you may end up much smaller than you started. Also I know all my classes, approval etc is good for 1 year according to my insurance so you may not have to start from scratch if you do continue on the surgery path. Regardless I know one year from now you will be saying this was the best thing that could have ever happened in your life!
  13. rdoactv, should have been a bit more clear and I am not sure I can explain it unless you too have lived it. For 30 years i was a smoker and when I quit, I spent the first year or so still focused on how long since my last smoke, how many days, I am not a smoker blah blah..even though I was not smoking my thoughts and energy were constantly focused on smoking or not smoking, after the third year I never thought about it anymore, days and weeks would pass I would not even recall I use to be a smoker..I want to get to that place with weight..Most of the time I make healthy choices, I exercise, I eat when hungry and I am no longer consumed with thoughts of food, eating or not eating or dieting. I hope that is possible with the sleeve.
  14. Great post! and I am so happy to hear that goal weight doesn't seem to be something you have to constantly work at. I want the surgery because I am sick of weight and dieting being a constant focus in my life.
  15. For you Post Op folks, could you list the 5 things you did, or wish now you had done prior to surgery that helped you be successful. I am hoping those of us still pre, may be able to incorporate your suggestions and increase our success at transition with new life.
  16. My insurance has a long list of requirements for wls. I have finished or will finish by the end of this month: 5 required classes with the health education at my ***, 6 months of weekly classes on food and exercise, 6 months of monthly doctor visits (to meet the doctor supervised weightloss requirement) the psych evaluation attendance at an info seminar by my surgeon attendance at a support group meeting my last appt with the supervising doctor is next week my appt with the nutritionist is the last week of this month what other tests/appts/challenges are ahead?? I know I meet with surgeon, but I hear some people need ultrasounds and ekgs and sleep studies etc.. what all was required for your surgery?
  17. wow of course I knew alot of evals for any surgery but kinda of surprising the difference in amount of hoops for different payment options. I have completed all the hoops and now am waiting for the actual labs, medical clearances and consult with surgeon.
  18. thank you, its really helpful to hear suggestions from you Postops! Please keep them coming!

To Tell Or Not To Tell....

well I am just at the start of my journey, finishing up insurance requirements etc before meeting with surgeon. I had debated wether I wanted to share the info with anyone or not. I believe my fear that people would believe I took the easy way out, or be disappointed or unsupportive was actually due to my own previous notions on the topic. Until I learned about the surgery, about the life style changes etc ..I too thought it was unnecessary and the easy way out. While I do not feel I owe anyone explanations I know if I get the surgery I will be upfront with any and all, not for them, but for me. It helps me to explain what a life style change is needed, how it is a tool not a cure. We have a saying in my line of work Your only as sick as your deepest secret. This isn't one I want to be tortured over.
  21. wishing you a speedy recovery and look forward to following your journey!
