    Lap Band Doctor

Hi Shellybean, I am a patient of Dr. Kim's. I had surgery on 6/25. Are you planning on surgery?

    Banded 21 June

I was banded on 6/25. I had to do two weeks of liquids before surgery and two weeks after. Now I am on two weeks of mushies. I definitely know how you feel!! Yesterday it was so hard for me to only eat 1/2 cup at meal times! I am looking forward to not being so hungry. I think i have four more weeks before I can get a fill. Hang in there and just do the best you can. It will be worth it in the end.

    Recently Banded- Question

Thank you TMF and Mis73 for the replies! The information is very helpful. There is such a variation from person to person that I sometimes get confused. I just need to remember to be patient and figure out what works for me. I am glad to hear that 4-5 bites is not typical. That just seems so extreme!!
  6. I was banded on 6/25 and am currently on two weeks of mushies before going on to solids. I have noticed from several postings, people saying they were only able to eat 4 or 5 bites of dinner, etc. I am sure this is after they have had fills and have reached a good level of restriction. So, my question is, if a person can only eat four/five bites per meal wouldn't the weight loss be a lot more than 1 to 2 pounds a week? I am really confused because I know pre band if I only ate that much, I would loose a lot. Of course, I would have also gained it all back too. Any input would be appreciated. I am just curious why the weight would not come off faster when eating so little. ( Please forgive my ignorance, I am still learning!!)

    Emotional Regret

It is so nice to hear other people feeling and going through the same emotions. I know this will be tough, but I know we all can get through this one day at a time.

    Emotional Regret

I was just banded on Monday. Today and yesterday, I have been having the same emotions. It is a loss we will have to mourn, we will not be able to eat like we used to. I think the sadness is normal. I hope we both feel better soon. It doesn't help to be on liquids that is for sure! I still have one more week of those to go. Hang in there and stay strong. I know if we stay positive this period will be over before we know it.
  10. Completely understand Kendrick2000. I was also scared to death, this was my first surgery. I had the surgery on 6/25- this Monday. Everything went great and the pain is way less than I had imagined. ( I am a huge whimp when it comes to pain also.). You will do fine. Just follow all the instructions for aftercare. Take your pain meds, walk, drink water, take Gas X, etc. A heating pad really helped me a lot especially when sleeping. You are completely normal to feel nervous and scared, but just try to focus your mind on the wonderful things that will happen as a result of the surgery. Staying busy with whatever you can find will help too. Wishing you a very fast and successful procedure and an easy recovery!!!!! Hang in there!!!!!!!

    Liquid Diet=Terrifying

Don't worry, you can do it! You will be surprised at how strong you are. I just completed the two week liquid diet, had surgey yesterday, and will be on liquids for another 2 weeks. The key for me was to stay busy and keep my occupied on other things. There were a few "tough" days, but it definitely got easier after the first couple of days.

    Surgery Tomorrow

Hi all, I am officially banded. My surgery was yesterday morning at 7:00 and I left the hospital by 9:00 am. I am on nausea meds and pain meds. I feel really sore, but the meds help a lot. Right now, I am taking them about every 4 to 5 hours. I thought the pain would be way worse than this. For all the newbies out there awaiting surgery, don't worry, it is not as bad, pain wise, as in your imagination. Just sip water and try to walk around every hour or so. It will be behind you before you know it!!
