I always hear such nice things about him. Isn't there a father and son, or brother and brother thing going on there?

I just figured out how to find posts I've written or replied to! I'm on an android, not my computer where everything is right there for you. So...I missed the replies here, sorry! I am using my band surgeon, Dr. Posner at Buffalo General. He's awesome, very very strict but awesome! The staff is cool too. The only bad thing is the parking. With the new "Medical Corridor", things are busy and tight. I can barely walk, so hubby drives me and we use valet parking, which takes forever and costs a lot. But yes, I'm from Cheektowaga. Still going through pre-op testing

    Discouraged

Ok, that makes sense. Thank you SuzeMuze. My diet has me on low sugar, good carbs, good fats and protein, protein, protein. I'm just hoping to be able to "gently" find out what's gonna make me sick. But, it's trial and error, sorta. Us gotta have common sense. Thanks for sharing with me. Never TMI around here!✌

    Discouraged

I'm going through the food funeral now. I have a question for SuzeMuze, when you dump, let's say on a sugar item and never want that to happen again so you don't eat that item...do you want the SUGAR less or do you just not want to dump?

    Pre opt diet

Where do you get these shakes from?
  7. Hi. I'm a 5X. I am wondering if they even make bathing suits that large? Do you know where I should look? Also looking for 5X tops.
  8. My Band surgeon had me strictly on the South Beach Diet. Are any of you on the same diet after RNY?
  9. I was reading Alex's book about the RNY, and he mentions that it is extremely difficult to get in the total of ...64oz. water, 5-6 mini meals AND 80-100 cms. of protein. I'm baffled. I know, sip water all day. But how do you get THAT much protein in a meal that's a 1/4C-1/3C? I've heard it is best to eat more protein than drink it. Chicken has only so much protein. And post surgery, it's all another question. Am I to expect to drink 60-70+/- mg. Protein Shakes? Do they make them that high in protein? I know pre-op, the natural sugars in, say, banana's is ok in shakes but not after since RNYers don't do sugar. Right? I'm so confused as to how to meet my protein intake. I wanna do it right. Please share your "cocktail" of protein intake, pre and post op. Thank you in advance.
  10. Does being a 61+/- BMI leave me with my surgeon denying surgery? I have seen 600lb ppl having RNY, why would a surgeon deny my bmi? We haven't met to discuss RNY revision yet (I have the Band) but I see on here that ppl are being turned away. I know I have to lose 5 or10% of my weight pre-agreement. I weigh 370@ 5'4". My consult is on 12/15, I'm scared he'll tell me I have to 1. Get band out first, and 2. Lose 70 lbs first. How can I do that! Will I be turned away?

    I weigh too much? *cry*

I can lose it, yes I can! Because I want and need this surgery so bad! Again, thanks!
  12. Hi, I'm a Bander since '07. Seeking RNY. I weigh about 360, 5'4". 48 year old woman. Am wondering if they can take the Band out and perform RNY at the same time. Or am I looking at a Band removal alone, wait six months and then do RNY? I have my "first" visit with my team again in 12. I just wanted to know if anyone had done the "2 in1".
  13. I had a liver sonogram for another reason, but they said I have a fatty liver. Will this keep me from having band revision to RNY?

    I weigh too much? *cry*

Thank you ladies, I have my consult for a revision on 12/15. I'm also going to a seminar on the 11th. I should be well prepared. I hope, though, my surgeon doesn't freak when he sees my weight. This time around, I can barely stand, walk very short distances with a Rollator and am on oxygen. I'm a walking comorbidity. I hope they can do the revision to RNY in one shot. I pray.

    THC in my system?

Well that's ok. Haven't smoked in a very long time, just won't start back up. I won't risk losing the surgery, or the faith in me by my team. Just a thought. Thanks for writing back!

    THC in my system?

I'm curious about this as well. I haven't done anything in a long time but would like to. I will not be doing it post op, I'm cool with that. I'm still in the Band to revision to RNY stage. Haven't seen my surgeon yet, I have an appt on 12/15 for the consult. But I, too would like to know if they test you for THC pre-surgery.
  17. Wow, I would have NO idea how to live w/o the Band. I mean, I basically am now as I eat and drink what I want. But I still kind of feel the Band. Does anyone know how long between a removal and the RNY itself? How do I diet with NO help?

    Buffalo/Rochester

Hello, My name is Polly. I live in Cheektowaga.
  19. BAND TO RNY 1. I know you have to have 64 fl oz of Water everyday. I drink a lot, but not water, I hate water unless I put some lemon juice in it. So, I drink a whole lotta kool-aid sweetened with Equal, my favorite sweetener. Can that count as water? 2. Also, I'm a Band hopefully to RNY so I know it is virtually impossible to get in 64 fl oz's of liquid in a day, as a Bandster. I've been unfilled for 6 years and drink all I want. As a RNYer, is it hard to get the liquid in? 3. And if it CAN go in, how often do you have to drink? Do you have to sip? That must make it impossible to fit in your day when you can't drink before or after eating.

    Shelf Butt Blues

A newbie member mentioned something that got me thinking...yes, sometimes that happens! I have what she called, a butt you could put a cup of coffee on. It's kind of personal, I know, but do any of you have this kind of butt? And what I really want to know, is Did you lose that "shelf" when you lost weight? It's my biggest fear that that won't go away.
  21. HELP I'm 48. And I'm no newbie, but I am a Bandster who is seriously considering RNY, and have done ALL sorts of homework including self-introspection. But I haven't been on in a long time and would love some thoughts, remarks, friendship (I am not clingy) or advice. I have an apt with my PA to discuss what would be best for me (unfilled for 6 years, now at my heaviest) on October 23 or 25, ???. lol. I am 5'4", 365. I need the band out, [whatever] in. Would love some info on how that goes. My health is poor to bad. I had two knee replacements a few years back. Didn't bring me much relief. Now, I can stand alone for up to 5 minutes without screaming inside and reaching for the nearest thing to lean on and then sit down. I walk very slow and even more painfully. I use a walker sometimes, hooked up to my 24/7 supplemental oxygen to walk any short distance. I am a fighter, however, I don't want to fight this alone. I'd love a response. Please?
  22. I was just wondering, how much Protein is required after having RNY? I was told when I was compliment with my Band that 60-90 mgs was the requirement. Do you use shakes ( I love 'theworldaccordingtoeggface's protein shakes) What do YOU do? Don't the doc's prefer protein that you eat? How can I cook for two? Without having to run out to, say, get scallions. I can't afford the foods needed, I have to be very creative and I am out of cheap protein foods/recipes. Money's a Major issue here, so we eat a lot of chicken, etc. Boring! Ideas, reccomendations, cautions.....?

    Time off work?

Hi, I'm a hopefully soon to be Revisionist. I have a job where I have an office, but walk a medium amount of the time, with a walker with an oxygen attachment. I am on Disability and only work for three days a week, five to six hours a day. Do you think I'd need a lot of time off? I'm off, I get NO pay. It's all a matter of money. But the reasons behind taking 4-6 weeks off are compelling. I don't know what to do.
  24. Ladies, I drink SF Koolaid like a fish! I was really concerned that all I could drink was water. I do love water, rarely. ????. You won't believe this, but that was a MAJOR factor in having the WLS. But now I CAN!!!!! Yay!!!!
