Unjury: do they HAVE to be frozen?
meyouus replied to meyouus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I mean are they supposed to be like actual shakes or drinks. -
Ok. I'm scared of this gas pain. I am very limited as far as walking is concerned,, so I'm thinking that 'walking the gas out' might not work for me. But I'll try. 1.When you're in the hospital, walking or not, do you toot? 2.Do you have to push the gas out? 3.Won't that hurt your stomach and/or incisions? 4. I've tried gas-s strips in the past, to no avail. Can I take the anti-gas pill I take now?

It is said that since you can't eat MRE's, and on a doctor assisted civilian diet, that you will not be combat ready. They could discharge you. Please be careful!

I use a script from Dr. that you get from behind the pharmacy called Eucerin. It's a thick, thick cream that goes very far. Cheap too! -

Non-gritty Protein Drinks?
meyouus replied to Padraigm613's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not at this stage yet, but plan to purchase unjury samples soon. I was wondering, are they mixed with milk pre or post op? Then I was wondering, if it is gritty, as some say, maybe you could heat a little milk/water, (1/4 cup?) , mix the Protein mix in (to reduce truthiness) and then add the rest of the cold liquid to make a cold Protein shake. If this can't apply, just pretend I was never here! ????. -
Sedentary : Can I lose weight?
meyouus replied to meyouus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys, I will look into the shows and videos. I'm going to look on youtube. -
Hi. My PCP said I have degenerative tears in my menisci (cartilage on sides of knee) in both knees as well as several other comorbidities that she wants me to be sedentary. They can heal, but not until I lose a great deal of weight. Can you still lose weight post-op when you're not really exercising?

Just starting the process
meyouus replied to stevep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the middle. I had the band in 07, so they know .me. I had all the tests, but still need paperwork from previous tests. I had to cancel my appt with surgeons LPN and the dietician, so now have to wait till March. But I don't mind. Gives me more time to lose more weight! I think of little else but the whole process. I think I got it, but still continue to investigate the process. I'm working with my therapist about the food addiction and I think we're doing well. EMDR. Still, I'm nervous about the actual operation. Open or laparoscopic? Scarey. Good luck to all of you! We can do this!!!! ???????????????????????? -
NO mush, must eat fast. HELP!
meyouus replied to meyouus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG. It's 2:00 am, I downloaded the app but can't stop the timer! I press stop and it looks like it did, but while on other apps, I still hear the beep! How do I make it stop? I've closed the app! -
Hi everybody. This might be a TMI post, bear with me here. I eat fast. I finally figured out why. If I'm eating lean steak pieces, sauteed onions and mushrooms, for example, I want badly and need badly to swallow beef, onions and shrooms so I can know I'm eating those foods. Not pureed mush where once it's mush, you lose the structure and essence of what you're eating. I can't handle, yet, the mush in my mouth. Feels sick to me. Am I crazy??? Have any of you felt this way and overcome it, if yes, HOW?

Sedentary : Can I lose weight?

I have no money, heavily in debt with medical bills. I wonder if I saw a PT once, they can teach me what to do? Or a few times? -
Advice for those starting their journey
meyouus replied to Lebim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are a blessed woman. To open up and be as honest as you are is remarkable. You owned up to your bad decisions and how you paid for it. Deeply introspective. And you reached out to all of us to warn us of the perils of non-compliancy, very brave! I'm proud of you. I look up to your heart full of wisdom. Blessed Be. -
What are your thoughts on smoking before and after Gastric bypass surgery
meyouus replied to leag78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As man, you guys really, really got to me. I guess, Thank You? Yes! I actually smoked cigars for three years but quit last year. But with the idea of my surgery coming up, I thought, well, I'll smoke now since I never, ever can again. So it's been a week's worth of smoking. It ended when I read your post's. My surgeon was kinda snarky after my upper endoscopy the other day. He said all looks good to him. But he uttered something about "all I'm gonna do for you now is just take the Band out." No! But the smoking is probably why. He's real strict (I feel safer for him being so) so no more smoking for me. If I have to wait six months to prove myself, I will. Silly how I want to live by getting the RNY, but thought nothing of all the evils from smoking. You guys have the proverbial slap I need. But now I'm upset about waiting even longer for surgery because I can barely stand or walk, with lots of etc's. I am Pro-Me now. Bless all of you! -
Hubby and I am back and forth about getting a RNY, your Opinions?
meyouus posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm seriously considering RNY. I've now had a band that is 5 years old, unfilled and useless. My BMI is 55. I'm in a bad place. My husband is reluctant to see me go through the "diets", "life changes", "surgery" again. He saw me through the band surgery and two separate surgeries for total knee replacements, He doesn't want me to have WLS again because it completely disrupts his/our order of things. He also saw me eventually give up on the South Beach diet that my surgeon puts his patient's on. Does he have a point as far as my food addiction goes? With the Band I was "sober", then I fell off the wagon. All that work and money down the drain. He's afraid I can't do the RNY diet, okay, point taken but I WANT the strictness of the RNY lifestyle. When I was "sober", I ate SO well, I studied everything I put in my mouth. But when my band was too full years ago, or not full enough, I grew angry at myself because the band never made me full. Just made me sick all the time. With the RNY, there's a strict, similar, diet to adhere to. I can do it, my hubby just doesn't think I can do it again. How can I convince him that this is the right path for me? He's all I have in this world. I've hit rock bottom, never been such a slave to my weight as I am now. I want to be a success, like you guys, no matter how hard the work may be. -
I'm on my Android, can't get all the ads on the bp website. There was a protein powder at the top, "un"- something. It had sample packs I think. Can someone help me locate this or suggest any other protein powder sample packs sites?

I weigh 373 @ 5'4". I use a Rollator with oxygen just to walk 10-20 feet. I get around the house ok, in pain. There's a catch 22 here... I have to lose weight to walk and I have to walk to lose weight. My muscle mass is non existent. I take acetaminophen and ibuprofen every day for the pain. And it doesn't help much. After the surgery, they get you out of bed to walk. And walk. How am I going to do that? I'm horrified. I'm like the turtle, slow but steady. My question: Will that effort be enough to satisfy the surgeon? For the beginning? Or do they expect good, fast walking? Please help me?

Shelly, he gives great hugs! He really, really cares!

How is everyone the 1st night after surgery?
meyouus replied to smoggie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had morphinefor my knee replacements, I'd press a button and the morphine would enter my system. At only 20 minute intervals at a time. Do they do this for the RNY? -
hey shelly, you're further ahead than me. I'm in my second week of the pre-op first phase South Beach diet. But Posner did my Lap band in '07. What a waste of time. I love Dr. Posner! How do you like Kim and Jeannie? I'd be scared to, being as close to surgery as you. But do know you're in VERY good hands. Dr. Posner is the best. Is he doing the surgery? Specific date yet? Let me know when you get one. I'm so excited for you. ????

Gastric Bypass: As with the Lap band, do you have to crush pills, or purchase liquid meds? Can pills get stuck? Also, what about time release pills?

Walking post-op? I can't now!
meyouus replied to meyouus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boy have you guys made me feel a whole lot better. I see myself right after surgery using a walker, doing the best I can. Then , at home , I can walk around the house (winter here in Buffalo), then when spring comes, using my Rollator to walk down the street a bit then more. Hopefully this'll do the trick. I have 2 replaced knees, so I know some exercises to do at home pre and post op. I'm just really scared now! Not of my future so much. But really, you guys calmed my fears a little. Bless you. ????
