    I got a date!

Hey! I got my date too! June 17. It's a Wednesday, so barring complications, I should be out by Friday or Saturday. I'm a revision from band to RNY, doc says he does his in one shot most of the time. I hope I'm one of those times. Then I got hubby for the weekend, yeah! I CANT WAIT!!!!!!
  2. I will have to be on Clear liquids and Protein drinks after my revision for 7-10 days. Question: don't you feel extraordinarily weak during this time?
  3. I'm confused. I see people on this forum talking about eating hard-ish foods very soon after surgery. Things like meat, cheese, fast food. Also, drinking sweet milks, pop, etc. I was under the distinct impression you're on liquids for weeks to help heal and not damage the sutures/staples. I intend on doing the four phases of food consistencies. But why, or how do people get away with going off their plans and seriously risk damage or dumping? Am I missing the boat here?
  4. About the gas right after surgery...I've heard it is quite painful. I've also heard "to walk it off". What about walking makes the pain go away? Also, does it just 'come out'? As a toot, or as air? In other words, will I be farting up and down the hall?
  5. Is it a good idea to take a stool softener or gentle laxative the day before surgery since some complain of constipation after surgery?
  6. Lap band to RNY. No hard work for me, I can barely walk without my Rollator.
  7. I know what you mean. I had two total knee replacements and the constipation was like concrete. Then they give you milk of magnesia, and you explode for 2 days! Probably TMI, sorry. I just want to avoid that if I can.
  8. I have this feeling that 'something' is hanging in my throat. I have allergies, but they never affected me before. Is this a sign of allergies? I'm afraid to go to PCP for fear it might affect my upcoming decision of surgery date.
  9. Now I'm at 329. I get my date on the 30th. LPN said absolutely do not show any gain! I just don't get it. I still stretch out my tops (prefer it loose) to fit.
  10. I'm on the prerequisite 2 month ( in my case almost 3 ) diet to prove your obedience, and lose weight, waiting for RNY approval. I've gone from 373 to 338. But my clothes all fit the same! WHY?

    What is pb2?

Thank you. I guess I was wondering how many gms? And is it a good product to boost your protein needs?

    What is pb2?

Does pb2, and pb2 chocolate have protein?
  13. Hi all! I'm going in on the 4/9 to set my date for revision to RNY. There may not be a surgery, after all this work, if I can't resolve the financial issues around it. Protein. How many tubs will I need to buy in the medium run? And what could be the cost. I'm thinking powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (get my samples tomorrow). The pre-op Vitamins, Calcium Citrate and chewable multi are expensive when added to the script list I'm on already. WHAT FINANCIAL OBLIGATION TO pills AND PROTEIN AM I LOOKING AT??!! I'm frightened that I'll be putting the surgery off forever, not knowing my RNY related budget. Can you help me? I'm feeling very frightened and doomed, and I don't want to feel this way if I don't need to. Just need to realistically know the budget.
  14. I love bariatricpal, been involved for years! You all are so interesting, informative and caring! As for getting off meds as a result of weight loss, I doubt I will because they're for psychiatric issues. Unless someone has heard of that happening with psych meds. I'm also on quite a few meds for insomnia. Will wks affect that? My NUT said the Protein powder @ Wal-Mart is 20.00 a tub, for one of 'em. The fact that they let you return it helps alot! How much is whey Protein Powder, not isolate, cost @ Sam's? People say not to stock up cuz my taste buds will change. But I have yet to try one! It's all post op for me and my protein. Would that advice still apply?
  15. Thanks everybody, it's so nice to know so many of you want to help! I saw my LPN and NUT yesterday, my surgeon only requires one day of full liquids, any kind of clear, the day before surgery. And the NUT showed me three protein choices that her ppl got from Wal-Mart that if you don't like it you can return it for a full refund. Now that's cool! I lost 10% of my body weight. My nutritional panel was "perfect". I see the surgeon in two weeks. He expects more weight loss, NO gain. Sounds ok. So, I'll know in 2 weeks when my date is. But man, I hate this wait.
  16. ---yep, Thank you, but it's probably too late to call today.
  17. --- I'm on alot of psychology meds, don't think they'll go away due to RNY. / My husband, who does all the cooking, doesn't seem to think we'll save enough to make a difference. IDK. / I'm trying to keep my cool, but the unknown always worries me. I'm sure I'll be better tomorrow. Thanks!
  18. ----I joined but could not find protein drinks. I see alot of whey protein powder. But all kinds! Do I want muscle building, pre and post workout powder, etc. I'm more confused!
  19. ---- Do you know the name of the insurance? I'm on Medicare.
  20. Hi, I have my appointment to see the surgeon's LPN, or maybe even my Doc as well, IDK, on 4/9. I've given them all the necessary paperwork, test results, etc. They know me from my Banding in 07. Here's the thing. As educated as I am, I am feeling scared to death! I don't know what this appointment is for. I'm freaking out about having someone go in and tear my insides apart. I'm scared I'm not prepared. It's just such a major event! Doc wanted me to lose weight before surgery, I lost 33. I am for the most part, chair bound, except when I go to my desk job. (I use a Rollator to help me walk, and hold my oxygen.) How long will I be out of work? Oh this all is driving me crazy! Is this normal?
  21. Thank you SO, SO much for replying! Now that was post-op, the $55.00? What about pre-op? I can see my surgeon feeling the same way about drinking calories. He's very fussy and particular. So you get $36.00+calcium chews (which were $17.00 at my store), so that's $53.00 for a bit over a month. I'm on Flintstones, $7.00. That's $60.00. A month. But a bit more because I don't know about protein pre and post op. Thanks for reminding me about the savings on food, I didn't think of that. I wonder exactly how much money is saved by eating less? I know it's not written in stone science, but you helped me figure some things out. You're a sweetheart for replying to me, you're the only one! I hope your path has been good to you so far. ????.
  22. How many ounces of water do we need to drink every day post op?
  23. Thank you! Now does that include the protein drinks? While we're on the subject, on average, how many protein drinks are we to consume a day, given that we need 80 cms? I'm going to TRY unjury. I bought a sample pack.
  24. I was wondering if any of you preferred or could only tolerate certain temps of water. And when in the process?
  25. I ordered the unjury sample pack today. Do the shakes 'have' to be of a frozen nature? I'll wake up my husband using my nutrition bullet.
