I'm sorry to hear of your knee problems, I know it makes a huge difference in your daily function and weighs heavily on the mind. I had both of my knees replaced this past year and my weight is making them hurt really bad, even though they should feel better. I stopped going to the gym, which really bothers me, but I can't seem to do the exercises I'm supposed to. My knees don't rotate enough to use a recumbent bike. And walking is real painful. But I gotta do it eventually. Well that body function and nutrition knowledge is reletively new to me, but I read and re-read Agatston to help me out. I see a lot of people eating junk, but just less junk, and that's not good. On top of losing the weight, you need to eat the right food for life longevity too! Good to see another Agatston fan!

Thanks for asking! Overall, I'm doing pretty well. I've lost 17 or 18 pounds since July. I don't remember seeing them in June. I've adapted to my diet better than I thought I would, however I still have some bumps in the road every so often. I talk them out with my therapist. Of course, she's not in the room when I'm having a wicked case of the Head Hungers. I see my NUT in September, hopefully I'll have lost a good amount by then. (My scale shows all different weights sometimes, so I don't always know what I weigh. ) I'm doing my best, thats about all I can say!

Hi, I have DaVinci Caramel syrup for my coffee, but have heard a lot of people talking about Torani Syrups. I checked out http://www.torani.com and found the most wicked flavors in sugar free. If you've tried them, 1. Do you like them? 2. Is it the exact same syrup they use at McDonald's? 3. If you have a bottle with you, what are the nutritional stats? I can't find the values on the site.

I've been to eggface's site and am very impressed with her Protein drink recipes, and the shear amount of them! Odd that you mention her... SHE is the one who made me interested in Protein shakes in the first place!

I've been reading post's about band slippage caused by fits of heavy coughing. What's the truth behind this?

Now, I can go on with my cold, peacefully. I was gonna give you a Smiley, but my Smiley's are going berzerk.

WOW!!! I LOVE your combinations! And I was afraid I had to buy them from http://www.torani.com, but I have Walmart and Target near me, I'll have to give those a try. The more obscure flavors I'd probabley have to get online. And the site gives you recipes! I also see on here, various Protein shake recipes that use the syrups, but I get most of my protein from food (per my surgeon and NUT's request) And I like that you experiment! When you say Protein drink , do you mean drink or powdered mix that makes a drink? I ask because I don't want to pay through the nose for powder, and I'd like to try the protein drinks/mixes. Just curious.

Thanks marfar7! Can't beat those stats! I want to try SO many flavors in my coffee. Does your SF Coconut have any aftertaste? The torani site has so many flavors to choose from. Thanks for responding!

I wish I could blame it on that!

First off, in my post, I wrote it's not the nicotene...", I don't smoke, why would that come up? I meant, "caffeine." Second, doesn't both decaf and caffeinated coffee dehydrate you?

Hi, I was just watching The Hypochondriac Hour, ie. Dr. Oz. , Dr. Keith Ablow, Oz's resident Psychiatrist, and they had Super Morbidly Obesity as the topic. One group of women claimed to enjoy, have pride in, embrace and add to their weight, these women did not want help. The other group, were women who claimed they no longer wanted to be super morbidly obese (SMO) for physical and psychological reasons, and wanted help. I, personally am on the side of the fence that wants help. I steadily gained weight and have kept it on since 1992. I am 46 and SMO. Five years ago, I was banded. It, rather "WE" lasted a year and I jumped off the bandwagon. Three years ago, I built an excellent working relationship with my therapist. I decided to jumpstart my Banded life, and have been doing very well! Dr. Ablow struck a raw nerve with me. He asked all of the women to close their eyes and think about the first person who told them they were worthless. I knew where he was going with this, as I come across it often in therapy. I did what Dr. Ablow said, closed my eyes, thought about what he said, and started to bawl. I knew the answer. I'm tackling my weight issues with the band, changing my entire lifestyle, exercising, choosing healthy smaller portions of food, etc. But I am, and probably always will fight the emotional pain that feeds my obesity issues. I have a list of reasons why food is a drug for me and I uncover more reasons as I continue therapy. It is a bad drug, this relationship with food. I'm in recovery. I got over the "excuses" as to why I shouldn't, wouldn't and/or couldn't lose weight. But I struggle with my [abusive] past and the negetivity that made me who I am today. I'm turning the tides...I'm taking control. I'm not seeking advice, or sympathy, or criticism... What I am wondering is if anyone here can connect their past, be it good or bad, to their weight problems. Well, I'm not "wondering" so much as knowing that there is a connection for some people. And in realizing that, I hope to engage a conversation about that connection in the hopes of learning a bit about ourselves, and possibley helping others with our stories. I'm game. Maybe no one will respond...but someone will think.

This is one of the place's I fail. I have a love affair with iced decaf. I'm at: Making my own decaf at home, using my "suggested" FF half and half, and until recently, DaVinci coffee syrup. But I struggle with drive thru coffee places. But I love it so much, I mostly make my own. It's not the nicotene for me but the coffee experience. .One that I must watch.

I see people all the time, but nobody says anything! I like the idea of setting up a time for a group chat or two or three folks, whatever. Just somebody. I'm in Western NY, EST. Nights after 9:00PM are best for me. I don't know if I have anything useful or interesting to say, but I'd try. Any other takers?

Actually, PBing is called Productive Burping. When food comes back into the back of your throat but it doesn't spill out, like throwing up. I know, gross. Sliming is when you are stuck and saliva just seems to be spewing out of your mouth.

Need A Mentor To Help Get Me Back On Track
meyouus replied to mommymary81's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LBSept09 is right. I was ashamed after FIVE years of not dieting at all! But I sucked it up, went in and they were SO happy to see me. Now I am back on track and going strong! -
You're doing all this exercising, that's awesome! However, if you have crunchy knee's you may be doing permanent damage. See an orthopedic surgeon or doctor and have x-rays done. It sounds like you may be losing cartilage or have already lost it. It doesn't come back once it's gone. The doc might suggest Synvisc shots to improve, or cushion your joints.Or cortizone shots. I had crunchy, painful knees for years, ignored it and ended up losing all the cartilage in both knees. I'm only 46 and had to have both knees replaced recently. Now this may not be your case, but I'd definately get some x-rays done just to be safe. You don't want to end up like me.

Husband Is So Supportive, But.....
meyouus replied to candtwalker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Aounds like hubby did all the homwork on how the band works, but didn't think about how YOU work. Obviously he loves you, just get up the nerve to tell him "Hands off my snacks!"Speak up for yourself. I like what fericito said.
