  1. I have insomnia and find myself wanting to eat late at night. Two things I learned to do. 1. Come here to LBT and read. 2. I'm not good at it, but I'm doing it, crochet a blanket while listening to TV or music. Some communities have worry dolls to project their worries upon, to rid themselves of worry. I have a worry blanket!

Annoying Crap That Your Partner Does!

Ha Ha...."shrinkles", I love that one! Um, when we're asleep, my hubby likes to feel over on my side of the bed to see if I'm there (different bedtimes), but sometimes I'll be on my back and "whoomp!", he stretches his arm out and hits me right in the face! He doesn't mean to do it, or so he says..... And in our house, I do all the cleaning, the cat litters, the dishes, the cooking (he's a professional cook) since I re-started my journey....and HE does the bills. I'd rather do the bills, lol. And, like someone else posted, he'll bring me home a goody he made at work that I can't eat! Ahhhh But I think I'll keep him

    Pumpkin Seeds

OK, Halloween is coming up. I have a pumpkin. I would like to oven roast the seeds. Has anyone with a band ever eaten pumpkin seeds? I would like to and I promise to chew, chew, chew...but wonder if there'll be any sharp pieces left after said chewing. Also, do they have any nutritional value, using EVOO to bake with? Like Protein or something? Thank You! It says, "Pumpkin Pi" get it? ha ha ha ha

    Buffalo Chicken Bites Recipe

Jlynn, Thanks for posting this recipe! As a Buffalonian, I appreciate the attempt to be as close to wings as possible, using Frank's Hot Sauce and Blue cheese are key to making it truly Buffalo. And I am one of those people that will morelikely make a recipe if there is a picture of the dish, love the photo. I am concerned though with the high carbs, but then, it's only 16 gms. And it has lots of Protein, YAY! But whatever the case may be, this sure is better for you than wings. I'll be making these soon! Thanks again!

    Coffee Creamer

My nutritionist has me using FF 1/2 & 1/2. But I'll be cutting wayyy down on it's usage, as I wouldn't accept that it has calories and carbs too, until now. Gotta watch those liquid calories. But coffee? Fill er up!

    Shelf Butt Blues

OK. I googled shelf butt. I found the Urban Dictionary. It's definition of shelf butt is as follows... (n) An ass so large as to simulate a shelf, table, nightstand, or other flat tabular object that one might set a drink, ash tray, plates, a TV or what not on. ROFLMAO! I DEF have a shelf butt, but I take offense at the "TV" aspect. LOL

    Shelf Butt Blues

Carolinagirl, this is the best definition. Or, lean straight up against a wall, if you can slip your hands horizontally between your lower back and upper butt with too much ease, you have shelf butt.BandingMi said it well. And I love your picture, where the heck did you come up with THAT one! And people, I did not make up the term. A young lady on the forum called it that, I just continued her explanation. She's uber new, and I think she'll fit in just fine! You guys kill me, btw.
  14. Pardon me, but what exactly do you mean by "booger?" The only booger I've ever heard of comes out of your nose. and it doesn't look like you're talking about that!

    Coffee Nutritive Values, A Shocker!

You are right, honk. Good point.
  16. I have been doing very well with my (food)lifestyle change lately. Had a big bump in the road a while back, but it's been worked out (thank you to those that helped me). However, I've jumped in head first into a cross over addiction, flavored iced coffee from my hot spot, Dunkin Donuts. I almost always drink decaf, btw. Anyway, I stepped out of my blind spot and looked up the nutrional values of my drink of choice, and I half knew and half denied the reality of drinking such drinks. I "was" using Equal, that makes up for all the damage doesn't it, NOT! The calories weren't over the top but the carbs were through the roof! A serious change in this new addiction is in order. IWhen I do go back to DD, I will buy my iced coffee with no flavor or cream. I LOVE coffee and don'twant to part with it, I just need to alter the ingredients. I drink it black in hot form, why not try iced form? Yet another adjustment in living successfully with my band. And if I can succeed with my food intake, I can succeed in my coffee. They're just Fluid calories/fat/carbs, a no-no anyway. So I caution those of you to bite the bullet as I did and find out the nutrional values in your coffee choices. You may be shocked, but it will put you in the right direction!

    Went Shopping For Swimwear

Work it girl! I love, love, love that bathing suit! You look incredible! I think you and your bathing suit need to be neck deep in the waters of the tropical islands! I hope someday to be as proud of my body as you are with yours today! Keep up the great success!
  18. Boy I hope you meant..."The Deed...After Surgery!"
  19. I'm sorry for what you are going through. It's extremely hard to be in the liquid phase and be around people who can eat what they want, let alone cook for them! I feel for you, I really do. 17 to 28? They should have the maturity, compassion and common sense to cook their own damn food. Mom needs support and TLC right now. Have a talk with them and see if you can get them to understand this. Heck, show'em these post's and let them see that complete strangers feel for you! (semi-lol) You need to take care of you. As far as I'm concerned, the tides changed when they hit the age of 16! I wish you much luck...

    One Shot...last Chance!

Great first post, you sound like such a sweet young lady. 35, ahhh...those days are over for me! I gotta say I, too saw a lot of myself in your post. "I have a shelf on my butt you can set your cup of coffee on." FUNNY! I have the same butt. I think it is good you have decided you've had enough and are going to try WLS. You know what you are living with now, you know that you have others, your children, that you want to be there for, and you set a plan in motion. That sounds to me like you are in a good place now. Only, be nicer to yourself and keep that humor! The Lapband journey has its up's and downs, it not easy. But you can DO IT! Just be real, be honest and try your hardest. There are so many wonderful people on this forum who you can turn to if needed. Read as much as you can to familiarize yourself with the band and all that comes with it. I hope everything goes well for you in your pre-op preperations, keep your head up, keep that pretty smile I know you have and keep coming to this forum. I look forward to seeing you around.

    Coffee Nutritive Values, A Shocker!

Thanks! I have a mad passion for coffee in all sorts of ways and I hope to be a Barista at Starbucks some day so I can learn all the tricks! I would like to be a coffee conniseur (sp?) I knew the creamy, flavored iced coffees were bad for me, but didn't want to let it go. But if I'm going to be a successful bandster, I must cut it out. I'll have one once in a while, when I can budget it into my diet. Thanks for the response, it made me smile...

    Starbucks

You know...Dunkin Donuts is selling bags of ground Pumpkin Spice coffee, for a limited time. If you brew it at home, you can add or not add what you want, controlling your intake. I have it, it's great!

    The Holidays

Sissy12, I agree, there ought to be a "Holiday Survivor" thread! I'm a sweets person, and from Halloween to Easter is my bad time. I'm pretty sure I can handle it, but it sure would be nice to vent to people who understand, and share holiday food alternatives with.
  24. I replace overeating right now with crocheting a lap afghan. I only know one stitch, but it keeps my hands busy doing something instead of eating. AND, I want to buy that Rosetta Stone kit to learn Spanish!

    Lemon & Water

You are what's called a Soul Magnet. Striking it "rich" could mean, rich in character, rich with flavor, etc. But for your sake, I hope you do hit the jackpot someday! And no more creepy strangers, you.
