Hi everyone! I wanted to make an announcement letting you all know that Sleevie Wonderland has made me the new group owner and myself and Larae will now be moderators. A little bit about myself- my name is Robin, I'm 23 from The Bronx. I'll be sleeved in October- counting down the days! I'm really excited to get this group going again and have some fun things planned! One of the big things for me is finally planning an official meetup for us New Yorkers. There has been interest in it but nothing official planned and that's something I think we should really get going. So on that note any idea's or suggestions for a meetup? I would love if we could make this a regular thing every few months. Let's get this thing going!

Nyc/metro Area Sleevers Support Group/meetup!
Fallenangel2904 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello all! I know there have been a few threads on NYers, and there is a NY group so I know there are a lot of us out there! I think it would be a fantastic idea to form a support group/meetup for us NYC area folks. I was looking to find a support group type meetup not affiliated with a specific doctor in the NYC area and couldn't, so I thought it would be nice if us sleevers could form something of our own! We could try to plan a meetup sometime and maybe every few months do something- so we could all get together, discuss our journey etc. Maybe a picnic type get together in a park and everyone could feel free to bring something Sleeve friendly to eat. Or we could find something non food specific to do- the point it to get us all together! All are welcome, pre op, post op- I'm pre op myself and won't be sleeved for a few months. Is there anyone interested in this idea? -
Found it thank you!

My surgery was NO picnic and this is NOT the easy way out....
Fallenangel2904 replied to Iambeautiful's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your recovery sounds very similair to mine. The nausea was one of the worst parts for me, it wouldn't go away. It was so bad i was up the entire first night in recovery crying. Nausea meds didn't help, and my blood pressure was also dangerously high. I was dripping sweat, crying, it was just a nightmare. I read stories on here about such easy recoveries and mine was FAR from easy. I really wasn't expecting it to be that rough, but guess everyone is different. That's why you shouldn't compare yourself to anyone else. Happy to say i'm over a year post op and doing well now and it was all worth it in the end! -

Year out what do you eat on daily basis?
Fallenangel2904 replied to JessicaDiane1021's topic in Food and Nutrition
Not to answer for them, but bread is something that varies for a lot of people. Some people can eat bread or a sandwich okay and some people not at all, ever. I don't have a problem with bread however i'm over a year out. At 3 months it was harder for me. You can try to have a small piece of a sandwich and see how it goes. Wheat bread is best (white has no nutritional value) or I've found those sandwich 'skinny's' to also be easier on my sleeve. Make sure you toast them until crispy, that also helps. I don't eat em regularly but every now and then i'll have one of a half of a sandwich really. -

Year out what do you eat on daily basis?
Fallenangel2904 replied to JessicaDiane1021's topic in Food and Nutrition
Im over a year out but not at goal yet. I try to eat 1,000 calories a day. Some staples in my diet are eggs, chicken breast, fish (tilapia, shrimp, crab meat) veggies like zuccini, broccoli, green Beans, spinach. Lots of salads, some cheeses, fruits A normal day for me would be Breakfast 1 egg, some avocado and piece of turkey bacon lunch spinach salad with feta and grilled chicken Snack a few turkey pepperoni and a tablespoon of hummus dinner tilapia, broccoli and maybe a little brown rice After dinner snack: some strawberries I also still do Protein shakes several days a week If you want you can add me on myfitnesspal i'm very active on there and i have an open food diary- Fallenangel2904 -
Here's a pic from the changing room- not the best but definitely captures the moment!

So I wanted to come back to this thread as a follow up- I went into Victorias Secret the other day. I was pretty intimidated because I've never gone in there with out a thin friend- yeah I know that sounds irrational but I had bad anxiety that everyone was going to stare at me. Sometimes I still see myself as much larger then I am I guess...I went in and looked around and a sweet sales girl asked me if she could help me find a size...I asked her if they had a certain sweater in a large and panicked thinking she was going to think to herself 'You're too fat for a large..' I swear its SUCH a mental thing! Anyway I reluctantly went into the dressing room with a few size large sweaters not really expecting much and low and behold THEY FIT! I haven't cried this whole process but I cried in the dressing room. I've wanted to wear these sweaters since I was literally 15. It was such an emotional moment for me. Super surreal. My next goal is to fit into their yoga pants!

Did any1's Dr. advise them not to do a pre-op diet?
Fallenangel2904 replied to MozzaWehsha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon doesn't require a pre op diet in general, however I did work to lose 20 pounds pre op because I wanted to shrink my liver. I would listen to what ever your surgeon suggests, he most likely knows what he's talking about. I do however think that doing any type of a pre op diet won't hurt you at all. If he says it won't help, well it won't hurt either and at the very least any weight lost pre op will be just a few pounds you DON'T have to lose post op. -
Quest bars are Poo Bombs
Fallenangel2904 replied to 2Big2Skate's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Oh man that would be a much welcomed side affect! I want to try the new flavor- I've tried them in the past and they were okay, but I've never been a huge fan of protein bars, but seriously reconsidering it lately. Might have to get my hands on one of those double chocolate brownie bars you all mentioned, I've been dying to try the cookies and cream! -
Eas advantedge carb control protein shakes
Fallenangel2904 replied to gettinMeBack's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm glad to see other people talk about these. When I first got them after surgery no one else on here was drinking them. All I heard about was premire protein but that's not an option for me because there's no SAMs club or Coscos by me. Te EAS are easy to find and I can get them at the GNC section of my local Rite Aid. I really like the chocolate fudge ones. Haven't tried any other flavors but want to. I've thought about the higher protein ones but they are 300 calorie (eaaak!) and I don't think it will be work it. The carb control ones are great for me even if they're a little less protein. Really glad I see others on board with the EAS shakes!! -
St. Patrick's Day Challenge

HW 379 SW 359 LW 270 TW 267 -3 I was surprised by this since I went down to 268 at one point then went back up to 270 and now all of a sudden I'm 267. Ill take it lol -
I am now most days, but for a while ill be honest I probably wasn't- I wasn't keeping track of foods/protein etc for a while. I'm back on track now and hopefully being diligent with that and upping the biotin will help.

At about 3 months or so. To be fair pre op my hair wasn't in the best shape (due to years of on and off bleaching) but I went dark a few months before surgery and looking back at pictures now right before surgery it was pretty healthy. I cut all my hair of at about 4 month post op (from down to my bra to right below my ears) and now almost a year later it's finally just past my shoulders. So it IS growing in length, but as far as noticing new hair coming in on the spots where it's sparse not that much honestly. It might not even be a surgery thing it might just be because I've put my hair through a lot, but I'm hopeful. Was thinking about trying that Keranique system that's out there, not too sure about it though.

I'm over a year out and I've been taking 5,000 and it honestly really hasn't helped. Now that I know it's safe to take 10,000 I'm going to up my dose. My hair is so thin and you can practically see my scalp in front, I have to part it way to the side thanks for the info all!
