On average how much weight does everyone need to lose?
Fallenangel2904 replied to Taylor06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to the BMI scale and what a 'normal' weight should be my excess body weight was about 220lbs. That would put me at around 160lbs. For myself I think I'm okay if I don't get there. I've already lost 100lbs another 50 would be great. That would leave me around 230 which I know for some that is a starting weight lol but I would be okay there. If and when i get there i can reevaluate. I'm mostly just going to see where my body will take me and be happy with the number/size even if according to the BMI chart that still makes me overweight. Then again i like having a little meat on my bones which i know isn't everyones cup of tea. But for me- I'm mobile now, something I wasn't 100 pounds ago. I can shop in normal clothing store now, I can live life and my health is good again. Something it sure wasn't at almost 400 pounds. I'm grateful for that and as I put that into perspective the number on the scale becomes less and less important. Just my opinion. -
YES! Exactly as Aussie said! I didn't want to post here for fear of being the odd man out, but Aussie summed up my feelings perfectly. I think it's important for pre ops to see both sides of the coin. Before surgery I think I looked at surgery as a fix for all the things wrong with my life. 'If I have surgery everything will fall into place' with relationships, jobs, family, friends and overall happiness. That isn't the case. Just as we tell people surgery isn't a quick fix for weight loss, you can't have surgery and just expect to be skinny- same goes for the quality and happiness in your life. Surgery isn't going to just magically give you that either. I hate to break this to people but being thin DOESN'T automatically equal happiness. I was someone who struggled with bouts of depression pre op, and that hasn't just gone away post op because my size shrank. I think on some level I thought it would. I've actually experienced some difficult emotional changes post op. I can not stress enough how important the psychiatric part of this process is. I need to get myself into therapy and I regret not doing it sooner. Don't just brush that off as unimportant. This process is SUCH a mental process as well as a physical. Therapy is an important tool and I recommend sticking with it from the beginning. Just my two cents and my experiences, of course yours will vary, but if you have any sort of underlying issues just know surgery isn't going to cure them. You have to do that on your own regardless of your size.

Sleevers over 300lbs?
Fallenangel2904 replied to dstined4gr8tnes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are definitely not alone. I know when I first came here it seemed I was one of the biggest ones, but there are other 'heavy weights' My highest recorded weight was 379, though I know I was bigger it just wasn't documented. Today 6 months post op I'm down to 280. Basically 100 pounds down. I hadn't been under 300 in SO long, it's amazing to finally be here. You can do it! -

My starting weight was 379. There were many people here who were in your weight rane. There are also many people with higher weights such as myself who have had great sucess. Good luck on your surgery!

6 months post op -98lbs so far
Fallenangel2904 replied to Fallenangel2904's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. I haven't been the model sleever all the time but my best tip is to stick to the plan, I know it sounds like kind of a 'duh!' thing to say, but its so easy to say 'Oh I'll just have a little bit of this since I can't eat much anyway' and those 'little bits' add up. Also weigh your food! I fell into the trap of not doing that. I'm the kind of person that will try to 'clean my plate' even post op, if I put too much food I still had the urge to finish it all. Weighing it out really helps. Tracking your food is important and I always do better when I'm doing it. Myfitnesspal is a great resource! Thank you to everyone for the encouragment! -

Thanks! Yes I did' date=' quite a bit. I'm still losing it. I cut my hair pretty short around month 4 (those are extentions in the picture lol) I've been taking Biotin though and I'm hoping it grows back healthier. This is my actual hair length lol -
Ill follow you as soon as I figure out how haha. I'm new to Instagram. If anyone wants to follow me I'm Fallenangel2904

When you get skinny, don't shop at A&F.
Fallenangel2904 replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Hate to break it to him but being thin doesn't automatically mean you're attractive. Not to sound like this ****** bag, but I've seen many uh less then beautiful people looking people who were thin so that kind of blows his theory out of the water. I still believe beauty has nothing to do with waist size. If you are beautiful you are regardless of wearing a size 2 or a 22. -
Facial features change after weight loss?
Fallenangel2904 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I am going to be 6 months post op in a few weeks (can't believe it lol) down almost 100lbs so far. (Highest weight was 379, down to 283. Still a ways to go but getting there) I was just looking at some old pictures of myself and doing side by side comparisons and I notice obviously my face looks A LOT thinner of course, but my facial features actually look different? My nose looks SO much smaller. I have always disliked my nose, thought it was too wide for my face, but looking at recent pictures to me it looks almost like I got a nose job or something? I honestly LOVE my 'new' nose haha I also feel the shape of my face has changed, I think its more heart shaped then the original 'round' I always assumed it was lol. Has anyone else notices this or something similiar with their face losing weight? Heres a few pictures to show what I mean -

What will I look like?!
Fallenangel2904 replied to 920amy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found that site a while ago and its so cool to look at! It really gives you such a good idea how weight, pants size and shape vary SO much! Its great to look at to understand how its so subjective. When people say 'I want to be a a size 6' you can see how there really is NO one size fits all 6 and how it varies so much. Such an interesting site! Thanks for bringing it here! -
Facial features change after weight loss?

Haha its so funny because so many people compliment me on my eye brows and I'm like if you only knew what they looked like without makeup lol. I'm a natural blonde so they are pretty much invisible. I just pluck the stray hairs and use an angled brush to fill them in with powder You all have seriously made my night! Thank you for the boost of confidence! -

Anyone wear smaller shoes now?
Fallenangel2904 replied to bankladyt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes! I have huge wide feet. I was wearing a size 13 W pre op. That was actually what made me realize how big I has gotten because at one point my 13s were too small and my foot wasn't fitting in them (I had gained like 40 pounds) well today pretty much all my 13s are huge on me! My foot has slimed a lot. 12s and even some 11's fit me! Would never have happened a year ago! I'm down 90 pounds so far, 5 months post op and some more to go still, so its possible my foot will be even smaller! So yea your feet definitely shrinks! -
Did you throw up? post op? or after you were sleeved?
Fallenangel2904 replied to Heather Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ill be honest, nausea was one of the worst parts post op for me. That morphine kicked my ass lol. I was nauseous for the first 2 days after surgery, was especially bad the first day but surprisingly I didn't puke. I haven't puked once post op (5 months post op) and I've tested my limits a few times lol and still no puking thankfully. So not everyone has this problem. I read so many people when I was pre op saying how they threw up regularly and that scared the crap out of me but luckily I've had no such problems.
