    Coconut Oil Convert

You can definitly use it to sautee chicken. It's my understanding you can use it any place you would use oil, butter margarine etc. A little In a pan before sautéing veggies or meat. That's prob how ill be using it but If anyone had more suggestions please post! As far as smell and taste yea it does have a coconut flavor- not sweet though, if you've ever had shredded unsweetened coconut it tastes like that but- well oily obviously lol

    Pizza Ideas

Another supporter for the cauliflower pizza! Ive made it several times and it's awesome! Another suggestion is to use portabello mushroom caps and make 'pizza' with them. Scoop out the ribbing, layer in some sauce ( you can add some ground turkey for extra Protein and make a meat sauce) top with low fat mozzarella cheese, and maybe some turkey pepperoni if you want even more protein. Bake and voila! I saw a recipie like this on YouTube and I've been meaning to try it!

    Coconut Oil Convert

I really want to start using coconut oil in place of EVOO. My ex who was a fitness fanatic (irnoic isn't it? lol he is actually where I was introduced to things like protein shakes, coconut oil, high protein diet etc) anyway he used to eat it and put it on just about everything and I used to look at him all sorts of weird when he would use it in cooking- though I did try things made with it and it was good just odd for me. Now I no longer think it's such a weird idea and have been meaning to try it out for myself! I love coconut anyway. And I know there are TONS of used aside from cooking for coconut oil, skin, hair etc. I've been looking to see if you can make your own and watched a few videos on it but the process looks difficult so I'll just buy a jar.

    Safe Spaghetti

You can julienne it by hand which is what I did the first time i did it (basically just cut into really thin strips) but it's kind of a big pain in the butt. Or you can use a vegetable julienne peeler like this http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Julienne-Peeler/dp/B0000CCY1S/ref=sr_1_4?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1343432424&sr=1-4&keywords=vegetable+julienne I saw it on Eggface's blog and now that I know the recipie is sucessful I'm gonna get one!

    Safe Spaghetti

Aw that's disappointing! I'll still try them for the heck of it and if they aren't great I can always add extra sauce to cover them up lol but I do highly reccomend using zucchini as pasta noodles. I made a shrimp garlic and bean dish and served it over 'zucchini noodles' and I didn't miss the pasta. Obviously it's not anything like real pasta but still a good idea!

    Safe Spaghetti

Oopse I see moregan beat me to the tofu noodle idea haha. Now I'm def going to have to go out and buy some because I suddenly have a pasta craving lol

    Safe Spaghetti

You could also try shirataki noodles- they are made from tofu, have protein and are low (or no) carb. Not sure. I haven't tried them yet but plan to because I am a big time pasta lover! I've also tried julienned zucchini as a pasta swap and it was great!!

    Will I Lose My Butt?

I hope I don't loose all of my butt- though some can go lol. I've always been small chested (C cup now- B cup even at my smallest weight which was around 270 so I'm fully expected to be an A cup after surgery) but my butt- ive always liked having a big butt so I'm hoping that I still have some booty- but is gladly loose the 'shelf' of backfat over my actual butt that probably makes my actual butt seem larger the. It is lol. But dang I'd had to be flat chested with NO butt too!

    Cpap Question

Thanks everyone for all the replies! So I went and got the CPAP today- they showed me how to use it and everything, and the tech was super nice and helpful- way better then the guy I did the sleep study with. She asked me how the mask was and I told her it was awful and I felt clostrophobic so she recomended the nasal pillows and I tried it on and it was SO much better then the full face mask!! Like A MILLION times better! Oh and for those of you who mentioned the computer chip- yup mine has it too! She told me that at my follow up I had to bring it with me to show I had used it for insurance to keep paying for it- it had to be used at least 4 hours which isn't much. I went to make a follow up appointment and they told me I don't need to follow up with them- but my surgeon instead, so not sure if they are going to want to see the memory card. I need to call this week and let them know I got the CPAP. So I am going to give it another try now that I have the new nasal mask. The biggest issue for me is I was having a hard time when I breathe out- I just feel like it's a bit of a struggle to do so I don't know why. I used it for a few minutes today and it still felt like that. It also always gives me a wicked bad head ache. Oh and my ait pressure is only 8 which I was told is very mild sleep apnea. Well I'm gonna give it another go and see!

    Cpap Question

justmeandmysleeve- glad to hear I'm not the only one who had such a rough time with the CPAP at the sleep study! I'm not sure how I managed to finish it- there was a while I was practically crying into the mask. It didn't help that my sleep tech was a rude jerk- the first guy I had was SO nice, second time around not the case. Thanks so much for the advice and hope your doing well after surgery! Can't wait to finally be sleeved!

    Cpap Question

Thanks guys! I think the Dr just kind of scared me today and in def don't want to do anything that is going to hinder or hurt me after surgery. I too don't really think the sleep study was accurate. When I was there the guy told me my air way was only alightly compromised only when I slept on my back- which I never really do and I only did because of the wires I couldn't get comfortable on my side. I do know the CPAP is a great machine for people who really suffer but u I dont think I need it. Anyway- thanks for the replies! Put me at ease a bit. I'll look into that mouth guard also- I think I've seen a commercial for it. Thanks again!
  15. You look awesome! Our starting weights are right about the same (ill be sleeved in October) and I seriously hope I can have such amazing results after 3 months!
  16. So I'm currently in the midst of a 3 month pre op diet. My surgeon doesn't do a pre op diet per say but I have a personal goal to loose 20-30lbs pre surgery. So I've been really cutting cabs out. My go to during this? Cauliflower! I riced some cauliflower (put it in a food processor then nuked it) and it has the texture of rice. Served some chicken in lowfat coconut curry sauce over it! I made moc mashed potato bake with low fat sour cream, lots of garlic, riced cauliflower and low fat motzeralla cheese baked in the oven (this was DELISH!) I made pizza twice with it as the crust- once with chicken mushrooms and onions on the pizza and another time with goat cheese and fresh figs- yummy! Just wanted to let you guys know there are SO many carb swaps out there and cauliflower is one of the best! I also sliced zucchini on a mandolin and used it as 'Pasta noodles' under Beans and shrimp one night. Another great idea! Keep experimenting- doesnt have to be boring! Can't way until surgery- I'm determined to make this work as not just a diet but a life style!

    Coca Cola Addict

I know how you feel. I'm a reformed diet pepsi addict myself. I gave it up about a month ago but I admit I've still had a few here and there- but I was drinking like 4-5 cans a day before so 1 or 2 a week isn't bad for me now. No help on the head aches, except that they do pass after a while. The first week SUCKED but after that it wasn't too bad for me. Hang in there I feel your pain!

    Awake During Endoscopy?

From what I've been reading though most people are not put under general for an endoscopy but instead what's called conscious sedation. Ive been looking around online, and It seems the drugs I recieved are commonly used for this procedure so I'm starting to think it had more to do with me then them. Anyway just glad it's over!

    Awake During Endoscopy?

What were you all given as far as medication and dosage? I just looked at the paper work they sent me home with and it says thy gave me: Fentanyl 150 mcg IV before the procure Versed 4 mg IV before the procedure Just wondering if this is the norm or comparable to what others got so I can figure out If I was under dosed or If it was my tolerance.

    Awake During Endoscopy?

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I was groggy when I got home so I've been sleeping on and off since. Im glad it's over. It wasn't painful, just uncomfortable and not what I expected. I'm not a red head but that's interesting! Though I do realize I have a high tolerance for drugs- I should have probably thought of this before hand. I came home an spoke to my mom about it and she agreed I've always had a high tolerance and that it's something that runs in the family apparently. I was hit by a car as a teenager and I had forgotten that I had problems what drugs wearing off then. ThT combined with my weight and requiring more then the average person is probably why it happened. Like I said even the others in the recovery room looked a lot more out of it then me. Im still going to discuss this with my surgeon and make sure they know about it. Thanks for the replies! And I hope I didnt scare anyone too much- but I definitly think I'm not the norm here so you should all be fine!

    Awake During Endoscopy?

So sorry to scare you Bronxbubbles! I really think I was not the norm because even the people in the recovery room w me after seemed A LOT more drugged then me. Maybe I have a high tolerance for medication, I dont know but I sure as Hell am going I to make sure I stress to my surgeon that I was conscious and aware for this so he makes sure im under for surgery. Now I have this whole new fear of being awake for surgery or something.
  23. Endoscopy is in the morning which is in a few hours- I should probably be sleeping but I'm a little nervous ahh!
