How soon did you try the tortilla? I'm just starting soft/regular foods but I'm scared to try it. -
New To The Site Had Surgery On 7/23/12
Tracym1107 replied to Roman1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I absolutely can't do any kind of whey protein. Tried it every way possible. I basically did not get any protein in until I was in the puree stage. Just did liquids and cream soups the first two weeks. The doctor wanted me to get the protein in but since it made me vomit every time they let it slide. It gets better! -
I had the same issue. I had complications and gained 13 pounds in the hospital because of the massive amounts of fluids they had to give me. I lost that and then started to retain fluid so I wasn't losing weight at all. They assured me that it was due to the complications and eventually I would start to lose. The doctor was right! Finally this week I started losing a lot. Still worried that it will stop but keeping my fingers crossed that all the complications are behind me! Best of luck!!!

Yum! Sounds good! Enjoy...

That's great news!!! I have to agree with you...I was doubting my doctor because my weight wasn't coming down. He kept telling me it was due to the complications after surgery but I didn't believe him....thought I was the only person that surgery didn't work for. Now, all of a sudden I am dropping weight like crazy!! Guess they know more than me!

I'm the same way. Not really seeing my weight drop but I can tell in my clothes. I've been frustrated as well!

Sending lots of prayers!!

Right after the surgery I went into diabetic ketoacidosis. I don't remember anything for the first 36 hours and they tell me I'm lucky to be alive. I was in ICU for my entire hospital stay. But my insulin requirements have dropped and they expect them to drop more. I rarely take any fast acting (novalog) prior to meals anymore! Just take 36 units of levimer now. Just like you....down from 100 units or more!

Waited two weeks. No problems at all!

My blood sugars went up extremely high after surgery. I had to go on an insulin drip in the hospital. Stayed elevated for about the first week. I'm type 1 so I will always be on insulin. However, I'm in a normal range now and and usually only take my slow release insulin....rarely require any fast acting so it does get better!

To The Emergency Room I Go...

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! -
They didn't delay mine and should have. My A1c was extremely high and it caused me to go into diabetic ketoacidosis. I was seriously close to not making it and was in ICU for 3 nights. I'm not trying to scare you but it is for the best. Hopefully they can make some changes to your insulin and you can have the surgery soon. Keeping you in my thoughts!

Almost Two Weeks After Surgery
Tracym1107 replied to cmbd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can have 2-4 ounces. Depends on what I'm eating. If it's tuna I can only handle 2 ounces but pureed chili I can eat 4. I'm also not losing. I'm seeing my surgeon today because I'm retaining lots of fluid. Hope he has some answers. -

What have you tried?? I don't like how it looks either and I'm learning by trial and error what I can eat. Sometimes I can eat certain foods and they next time I try to eat it....can't even stand the smell. Today is the first time I actually got over 70 grams of protein. -
Surgery on Thursday....went home Sunday but I had complications. Not with the surgery but with diabetes.
-
I only did it once. Throwing up, sweating and dizzy. It was over in about 30-45 minutes. But it came on very quick!!

One Week Post Op Info
Tracym1107 replied to jenneliza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had any bleeding at all. A tiny bit of drainage, which they said was normal. I would definitely check with the doctor unless someone else says it's normal.
