Ekg From Pre-Op Testing Came Back Borderline Low Voltage
Mommymook replied to Sherry77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am currently dealing with an abnormal ekg reading and have to see cardio on the 30th. I dont have my surgery scheduled yet, I am still in the preop work up phase. My pcp told me today that the cardiologist signed my ekg back that it wasnt anything to be alarmed about but I am still being seen on the 30th to get clearence. I did find out I have very very low Vit D and I was reading on Livestrong that low levels of Vit D can cause heart palpatations and irregular heart rate, so Im going to bring it up and see what the dr thinks. Hope you all get your clearences!! -
Made My First Video Blog --Check It Out
Mommymook posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been watching youtube videos for a few months now and they are great inspiration. So I decided to make some myself. I recorded and uploaded my very first one! Check it out! I will post more as things happen. my name on youtube is mommymook52 if the link doesnt work. Thanks!!! -
So I went to my primary today to start my preop workup. They did an ekg in the office and it was abnormal. Apparently I'm showing some early repolarization. Since my pcp isn't a cardiologist she forwarded my test to cardiology to read and decide if they want to see me, have the test repeated, or, if its harmless. I don't have any chest pain on occasion I get some some flutters and slight palpitations but again not painful. I'm so nervous I won't be able to have surgery because of my heart....I've had surgery...never an ekg though. Ive been stressed and crying all day which I know isn't helping anything. Hopefully the drs office calls me tmw. Any insight? Anyone have similar exp?

First Consult Tomorrow
Mommymook replied to Mommymook's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talking to myself here but didn't want to start another post. I called my dr office and talked to billing and asked her and she said medicaid is covering the sleeve and no need for 6mth preop diet so I just need to, get all my requirements taken care of. Wooot. -
Hello everyone tomorrow at 11am is my first official appt with the dr. I'm nervous but very excited. I'm nervous he will tell me I can't have the sleeve bc nys medicaid doesn't cover it (I'm not sure if they do I can't find anything that says one way or another). I really dont want bypass but I know I can't just not have anything done that isn't an option. So hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with some good news. Fingers crossed!

Well I had my appt today but didn't meet the surgeon because he had an emergency at the hospital. I met with his nurse, the NUT and a chief resident that sometimes works with my surgeon. Didnt find out if nys medicaid covers vsg have to call and talk to insurance lady monday she was out today. But I did find out a 6mth preop isn't required and if I get all my ducks in a row I'm looking at 3 to 4,mths til surgery. I go back in 6wks to see np n nut. Will see my primary to get my work up on aug 10th or sooner. Yay for moving in the right direction. Now just to keep fingers crossed vsg is covered. -

Big hugs!!! Boy oh boy can I relate about the plane!! Ive traveled internationally since Jan 06 --Ive been overweight longer then this -- but from 2006 til 2008 I traveled alone so I was always seated next to strangers. International airlines arent always very nice about big people traveling. I always have to ask for a seat belt extender, Ive never been able to buckle one. It is so embarassing. I ask as soon as I get on the plane, as I am walking to my seat. Ive sat next to some pretty rude people, but I just apologized for crowding them. Thankfully in 2011 and this year I have had my girlfriend and 4yr old son to travel with me so usually its us 3 in a row together so the only people I am crowding dont mind. It still sucks so bad to crowd anyone, need a seat belt extender, and not be able to use my tray table I cant wait to have those nsv's! All this will be in the past very soon! Hang in there!!!

Awesome accomplishments! I really can't wait to be on tthe losers bench. Reading stories like yours is what keeps me focused and moving forward in my journey. -
Hello!!! So I have been reading this forum for about 3wks now. My name is Jess, I am from Upstate NY --well kinda upstate, like 1hr south of technical Upstate lol.. I am 28yrs old (soon to be 29), I have 2 children; boys, age 11 and 4. I am in a commited relationship with my fiance Nicole -of 2yrs. I have been overweight pretty much my whole life. When I was in high school I bounced between 160-190 (I am 5ft 4in) --when I got pregnant with my oldest son, I was 17 and during that pregnancy I gained nearly 120lbs and the day I delivered him I weighed 300lbs. The next year of his life I went between 290-333lbs. This weight pattern continued until he was 4yrs old, and I divorced his father and awhile later met my youngest son's father. When I met my youngest sons father I was between 250-270lbs. A lot of life changes happened, including me leaving the USA to go live with him in Lebanon and then later Saudi Arabia. Those were some big issues for me, no one in Lebanon is overweight. It was tough being around his family who were for the most part very health aware.I didnt get pregnant right away (we married in June 2005) and it was very stressful because he was ready for a child right then, so of course we had family asking what the issue was etc. Finally in Sept 07 I got pregnant with my youngest son, I was around 270 when I got pregnant with him. during his pregnancy I was VERY sick --the smell of cooking food would turn my stomach. I was down to 240 by the time I was 5mths pregnant --at that time I came back to America, alone, to spend the rest of my pregnancy with my family and deliver here. The day I had him I was 239lbs. I left the hospital somehow at 245. The sickness went away for awhile and I got back up to 289 --by Sept 08 I knew something was wrong because I was having so much pain ---I finally went to see a Dr in Saudi Arabia who did an ultrasound and found out I had a massive amount of gallstones. Off to the USA I go again ----In Oct 08 I was hanging around 270-290lbs, I had my gallbladder out in Dec 08, Feb 09 I was 238 ...and by Oct 09 I was back up to 299. I wasnt doing anything different --except I could actually keep food down. Fast forward to Dec 2009, my 2nd ex husband got physical with me while I was holding our son, I played the nice wife until I got a plane ticket back to the USA, got back here in Jan 2010 and filed for divorce. I have been up and down with my weight the past 10-12yrs --I currently sit at my highest weight of 341lbs. I have been researching WLS for 10yrs, but never thought I would be brave enough to go thru with it. Well this year changed all of that, I realize I NEED to get healthy. I have tried so many things from dr monitored diets to topamax to wellbutrin, all with no success and in the end I weigh more then I started. I know this is all a jumble of information, but wanted to provide as much detail as possible. I went to my seminar May 15th --sent my application out 10 days ago, and today I found out I have my very first appt with the bariatric clinic on July 6th!! Im so excited. Nervous of course, but excited!!! I wanted to join in on this forum because I know it will be a great comfort to me over the next chapter in my life. I look forward to getting to know you all!!!! ~Jess
