***This post was originally under Pre-Op, but I moved it here.*** Hi everyone! I'm on the fence about submitting everything to my insurance carrier. I have UMR (UHC) but and the requirements are physician visits 6 months or more within 3 years *the requirements do not state consecutive*, a bmi of 40 or higher or at least 35/38 with a comorbity. My bmi is 43.4 with high blood pressure, pre-diabetic. I also have joint pain with all the extra weight. I have more than 6 months (not all consecutive). I don't know if I want to go ahead and apply now or just wait until I have all consecutive months to ensure all my bases are covered. I would have been done in July but I missed a month or two planning my out of town wedding. Now that everything is over. I will be finish with 6 consecutives in December and can resubmit then if denied. Has any one had experience with UMR? I have co-workers who missed months but were still approved. I've confirmed through my surgeon, doctor, and website the the requirements dont say consecutive but when calling they give me the rigamaroo.

To Submit Or Not Submit?
peachee213 replied to peachee213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. My surgeon's office is saying that it doesn't have to be consecutive. I think that I will try submitting after my next pcos after my pcos appt in Oct. All I have left is the psych eval and for my records to be transferred from my old doc to the new one for proof of more than 3 years being morbidly obese. -

New And Nervous But Ready!

Thank you ladies! -
Hello everyone! I figured I'd post to say hello to everyone since I'm at the start of my journey! I had my First Pre-Op visit today to get things rolling. My 6th visit with my PCP is this coming Saturday. So I'm at the end of my 6 months, hopefully! I just need to visit the psychologist for a eval, have an EGD & EKG, and an Nutritionist visit before I everything is sent off for approval. Approval is fairly easy with my insurance, I know of 2 other people who have had WLS this year with the new plan. I'm excited, yet nervous. I've tried everything including Medifast (yuck on some stuff.) Lost about 20lbs working out and with medifast. Then decided to start seeing a doctor. Hurt my knee and gain about 7lbs back. I really hope my surgery gets approved to help me lose weight so that I can be around for my husband and start a family... and be around to see my kids have kids and so on. I wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to making new friends and learning all I can from you all. Best wishes... Lisa
