  1. Am going for my 3 week check up next Wednesday and the nurse said the doctor will probably do my first full that day. Is that normal? Does that seem too early? Just wondering...
  2. I have transitioned to mushies and will be starting soft foods soon. I have read lots of post about people gaining once they start eating mushies/soft foods. I am trying desperately to avoid this. Any tips from those that were able to avoid the gain? I know this is time for healing, but I not ready to see my scale go up. Thanks for your help.
  3. I was banded on May 29th...I just wanted to check in with others that was banded the same day (or close to) to see how things are going. What are you Eating? How are you Feeling? You having any Issues? What are your Successes? Or anything else you might want to share that could make this experience more successful... Thanks in advance:-)

    May 29, 2011 Banders

I should also say that I am out of town for about a week away from my scale...I am hoping when I get home the number is down by at least 3 pounds. I am nervous because I am now eating mushy and soft foods...but I a started walking 3 miles today and hope to do it every day we are here. Nothing lithe walking next to the lake.

I agree the not drinking thing is tough. Thanks for all the feedback. Today I had tilapia for dinner. Yummy!

    Newly Bsnded

Refried Beans with smashed avacados is my favorite mushy/soft food. I added some thin mild salsa to thin out the beans...you could also add some fat free cheese. I also made a pot or vegetable Soup with potatoes, carrots, squash, zucchini, onions, and stewed tomatoes. I cooked it for a long time until everything was really soft. I smashed the veggies with my fork and the soup was delicious :-) Mashed potatoes thinned with chicken broth is good. I tried tuna with fat free mayo tonight and it was more difficult than the other stuff listen above. I going to try egg whites tomorrow. My problem is that I would usually eat tuna with middle eastern pita bread, tortilla chips with the beans and avacados, and a piece of toast with scrabbled egg whites. I am having trouble just eating this stuff plain...if anyone has suggested pairings or how they cope with out the carb side kick I would appreciate it. ???

    Mushies???

Transitioning to my shoes...any advice? I have tried refrained Beans and avacados based on recommendations from other threads - went well :-) I just ate mine with a fork...wondering if that is what others do because i assume chips and crackers are off limits???
  8. Had a great check-up, met my Protein target, went to the gym and walked 2 miles, added Greek yogurt to the menu, and wore a pair of pants I have not worn in a really long time! Wahoo!!!
  9. I'm starving!!! I started Soups yesterday, but still trying to focus on the Protein shakes and using the soups to break up the sweetness. I have my first follow up appointment tomorrow...what should I anticipate or hope for???
  10. Help!!! I will be taking my first work related trip exactly 4 weeks post op and don't know what to anticipate as far as eating. I got an email this morning asking if I have any special food needs (I'm assuming this was to target vegetarian/vegan), but I have no clue what to say. This person does not know I have had surgery and I do not anticipate telling them either. BTW-I am exactly one week post-op today.

    How Long?

Banded on a Tuesday and worked 6 hours (almost full day) that Friday. It was not too bad, but I did a lot of sitting. However, that day was my turning point both mentally and physically. I was still in pain (mainly gas), but I found getting back to some normalcy very freeing and motivating. I listened to my body, but pushed a little...

    How Long?

I was banded on May 29th (Tuesday)...and was able to work 6 hours by Friday and went to my nieces birthday party Saturday. I spent most of they time sitting and took a pillow with me...but was pretty good. I did have to take my pain meds so something to think about as far as driving. However, today is the first day I am really feeling like myself (7 days post-op)...so bottom line follow your body and compare it to your work requirements. Glad to connect with newbies like myself and with those that have already been through it.
  14. Just wanted to get some feedback on the progression of others diet. I was banded May 29, 2012 so I am 6 days post op. My doctors diet plan calls for 7 day Clear liquids, then 7 days full liquids plus Soups (assuming creamy type - soft). However, everything on his post-op plan is based around his brand of products (Protein drinks, soups, Vitamins, ect.) so it makes it much harder when I'm at a regular grocery store. I've asked for some comparison products but they have not been as helpful as I would like them to be :-( Any feedback would be appreciated...

    Banded 5/29/12 - Progression?

Thanks. I tried 1/2 cup of a very thin cream of potato today. I was so nervous I think it took me over 30 minutes to sip it. It went well...will not try anything else today. Anxious for my check up on Wednesday. Please keep the advice coming. On a very positive note, I am down 21 pounds in 13 days. (7 days Pre-op, 6 days post-op)
