Love it! That is awesome. Yu look fantastic and really, really happy.

I had porridge (which I think is what Americans call steel cut oats) within the first week. It was on my plan and helped with post OP constipation too. However everyone has a different plan so follow what your NUT/ surgeon recommends.

So be happy again. It is your choice you know, how you feel. If you can't afford it then you can't afford it. Work hard, save hard, and plan for the future when you can. We don't get everything we want in life. This need for instant gratification is not healthy and is probably part of what led to us all being morbidly obese to begin with. The surgery won't do you a damn bit of good until you can learn to control your impulses and your need for instant gratification anyway. I know is post seems extra harsh but I think you struck a nerve and it kind of reminded me of my kids having a tantrum so you got my mother bluntness response :-D I actually wish you well, very much so, but I know none of this is going to do you a blind bit of good until you learn control over your feelings and your impulses. If you want this bad enought, then you wait a year, you work a year, you do what is required to get you closer and closer to your goal.

what is so bad about regular cheese?
LouiseC replied to penman53's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I eat real cheese. I don't touch chemical/over processed stuff (a.k.a 'American cheese') -
Is there anyone who DIDN'T lose their hair?
LouiseC replied to byebyebelly's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Interesting, I also have a diet rich in clean and healthy fats though I had not previously made a connection between that and my great hair! It seems like they could be connected though. I didn't take biotin or anything like that and use a standard salon range of products (KMS) so nothing special. I also continued cutting, dying, and styling my hair as normal. -
I would say there is more to that story. The media are notorious for being alarmist, especially US media, and the attached link provides little insight beyond the two failed diet attempts and the child's health issues. I do not see any of us being in a position to judge with only what we read on the links available, especially the linked opinion piece. While he may not have had PW syndrome, he was clearly at serious risk with other health complications. The grehlin hormone was discovered when PW was being researched so I do tend to think that the sleeve is a valid option for child sufferers. Once ethics around this are determined and it is seen that the surgery would do more good than harm, then it becomes clear that this could be an option for other life threatening ailments.

I lost hair, but not that it was noticeable. I do have a lot of hair, which helped, but my hair stylist was on high alert and he let me know any loss I had was minimal. -
Perhaps start a thread? I just did it and am happy to say it came back at 1.3 years younger than my actual age. 42.1. Yeah! :-D

I know most people or carb crazy but will I ever be able to eat a sandwich again?
LouiseC replied to endless80's topic in Food and Nutrition
That sounds better though I can't eat lettuce, bread goes down easier! Thinking of sandwiches, I wonder why most just don't make it themselves at home? It is cheaper and healthier. You know what you are eating and you can plan your portion size perfectly. I have put all fast food on the extreme end of occasional food. It is all **** food, really. I would have a Wendy's chilli before i touched subway. I would even have a McDonald's sundae before I had subway! Because if I am going to have something unhealthy I will go for ice cream every time! Subway is one of the worst in my opinion because they pretend to be healthy. But they aren't. -

Super light headed and dizzy
LouiseC replied to NotLookinBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If eating and drinking doesn't correct this then i think you need to see your medical professional. It could be blood pressure, or any number of things. Better safe than sorry here. When I get dizzy it is either because I haven't had enough to eat or drink and it is easy to fix by eating and drinking. -

I am 16 months out and I couldn't eat a 6 inch. We are all different though. I could possibly do 3inch, if I liked that sort of food, but I don't. I do eat some bread, but not a lot. When I do it is toasted or flat mostly though sometimes I will enjoy thinly sliced baguette with cheeses and pâté. -
I just told my boss! I feel so judged...

Lets talk about sex!
LouiseC replied to AshleyMidwife's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It is fantastic! I hadn't realised how much being fat had hindered my sex life. Of course, becoming a yoga fanatic has also increased my flexibility which I have to say adds some value! -
I have just been diagnosed with Diverticular Disease. Until this morning, I had never even heard of it even though it is apparently really common. From what I can gather it is the result of a low fibre diet. My doc didn't know whether this would be a result of the sleeve or not. Though he was clear it was likely diet related. I am curious if others who are sleeved have developed this, and, if so, how it is managed with a post sleeve diet. I struggle with recommended fibre intake and have been slack in taking fibre supplements (though this has shocked me into re-examining my slackness on the supplement front).

Chronic constipation, frequent impacton, terrible gas (!), bloating and abdominal pain on the lower left side.
