How Much Time Off Work
LouiseC replied to lizzyshade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two weeks for me, and I was going stir crazy the second. Went back early and drove a 3 hour round trip with no issues. First official day back had to fly out of town for 2 days of meetings. Tired in the late afternoon, 4pm ish. But no problems at all. -
I have become my own orchestra. I have never known so many sounds to come out of my body. I think the throat gurgles are my favorite. They make me giggle.

I have a job where I fly almost weekly, and often in smaller planes. I completely get the humiliation of asking for a belt, and seeing the looks of people when they realize I am going to sit next to them. It is awful. I fly tomorrow morning, 2 weeks from my surgery date, and I am looking forward to seeing how the belt fits! Sounds like you got a great seat mate! And wonderful service on the return trip. I would add that any of your new colleagues worth knowing will only consider how you can contribute and the skills you bring rather than focussing on the size you are.

15 Months Out- Feeling Like A Failure
LouiseC replied to ILKrista's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wonder if a part of this is because you are so close to your goal? Self sabotage is something most of us have done in the past. Remind yourself how hard you have worked and how much you deserve your goal. You are not a failure. Self sabotGe is a mechanism I think we have used in the past due to fear of reaching the goal and then regaining, so we subconsciously start to sabotage so we don't reach goal and therefore don't then have a greater feeling of failure if we don't maintain. It is the difference between saying "the diet didn't work" and "the diet worked but I couldn't maintain it " . So this time, remember this isn't a "diet " this is a tool for life. You can do it. You can maintain it. Go for it! -

4 Days Shy Of My 7 Month Surgiversary & .....
LouiseC replied to dying2Bhealthy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well done, that's awesome! -
You can absolutely get pregnant after the sleeve. It is usually recommended not to until you reach your goal weight and your doctor clears you. Getting nutrients in while pregnant will need to be the focus but it is definitely possible.

Sleeved June 4Th Experience =)
LouiseC replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Fantastic! Well done you. -
I was taking pills (several) from the day after the surgery, no issues. I wouldn't worry. We all get different advice depending on the surgeon and NUT. I did not even have a period of clears, was on pureed from day 3, and softs at 2 weeks. Had my first scrambled egg today! No problems. I suspect the over cautious approach of some physicians is connected to liability issues and insurance requirements.

I love spanx and other support undergarments! I am a weirdo I know. I also thought I may have to wear them for loose skin though. However happy to come to the bonfire!

Comression Stockings After Surgery
LouiseC replied to lizzybeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to wear them for ten days. Though I was told never to go over the knee so they were below the knee socks. I understand they can't be cut at ankle as they need to ensure circulation around the ankle and foot as well as lower leg. I wore socks over mine so they didn't get too dirty. Hand wash and dry naturally. Do not tumble dry! To put on, i recommend using a plastic bag over the foot and then they go on easy, you then remove the bag through the open toe. -
How Do I Raise My Vsg Plan With My Husband?

Honesty. Sit down and communicate. -
Weight Gain And Getting Back On Track
LouiseC replied to gigglee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know anything about god, but I do know about love. My advice would be to focus on loving yourself first. Despite your weight, your job or your pain. Love you. No surgery or career will love you, you have to love you in spite of not liking how your body, health and job are right now. On the medical front, could it be adhesions causing the pain? -
Consitpation...please Help..
LouiseC replied to AnewME!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go natural where possible is my advice. Puree a very ripe kiwifruit and drink it slow. Tasty stuff and the next day you will get relief with no strain! It also freezes well and is yummy to eat frozen, like a slushy but just pure fruit. -
Ketosis! It's a great thing to be stinky breath when the stink is because you have been fat burring while you snooze!
-
It may well be a by product of ketosis, this is a good thing. It means your body is using stored fat for energy and the by product ( acetone) is expelled in urine and on your breath. This leaves a funny taste in your mouth ( and also odd urine). It means your blood sugars are being held by your body in reserve for emergencies and your day to day energy is fueled from stored fat and avoids depletion of your protein stores. So welcome ketosis!

What To Stock Your Kitchen/house With For After Surgery?
LouiseC replied to LorLor00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awwww, what a lovely husband you have! -
Well done on making the decision to reclaim your health and wellbeing. Good luck! I did not find this forum until post surgery and really wish I had found it prior, friendly folk with loads of experience, advice and wisdom.

I think people that we are close to may fear we will change and that this will mean that they also have to change. My sister, whom I love dearly, was immediately concerned about the future of our girls nights on the wine. She was very supportive and pleased with my decision, but still quick to identify that my change will alter her reality. It will alter the way we relate, communicate and socialize. I have realised i need to remember that. Friends and family who depend on me to be and act a certain way are going to have to adjust to the "new" me, and for some it is challenging as they are left with no choice but to examine their own health and wellbeing as a consequence of my own decision. So please do not judge your friend too harshly, unless she turns psycho jealous and competitive like some of the other examples given in the thread and if so, take the advice earlier of adding her to the weight you plan to lose! Lol
