    Pain Pump In Hospital?

I didn't have a pain pump and didn't need one. I had codeine and paracetamol 4 hourly, and then dropped the codeine after 5 days. Dropped the paracetamol after a week. Sent from my iPad using VST
  2. I think at the moment I want all the hydration I can get! But if you grow your own vegetables and fruit I can certainly see the attraction in these. Far healthier than canning. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Coconut Oil Convert

Okay, just googled. Wow. Funny thing is, earlier today I saw coconut oil in the nutrition section of the health food store and I was so confused! I am going to have to try this. I have a watering mouth at the thought of some fresh prawns lightly sautéd in coconut oil with Thai spices....... Sent from my iPad using VST

    Coconut Oil Convert

Okay I must be well out of date. When did coconut oil become good for us? Sent from my iPad using VST
  7. I decided not to worry over stuff I couldn't control. I did as I was told, walked and behaved myself, kept the compression stockings on for 10 days and decided to leave the worrying up tp someone else. Sent from my iPad using VST
  8. LT, it sucks to feel down. I hear you. So maybe choose to feel differently. I know this sounds simplistic but believe me, it is achievable. Choose to feel so damn happy that you have a new lease on life. Greet every difficult post op situation as an opportunity to grow, in the good emotional way rather than on the scales. Forget fighting everything and Celebrate the new. I seriously believe that that, more than anything, will guarantee your success with this sleeve. Sent from my iPad using VST
  9. I wasn't telling people but now find I am telling more and more. Turns out two people I work with have had the surgery. We now have a little club of our own, lol! Also, another came and told me she wanted the surgery and she was so relieved to have someone to talk to. These experiences have far outweighed the few negative responses I have received. My PA has known from the start and has had a hell of a time with people trying to get him to spill the beans but he knew I did not want to be the subject of gossip so I didn't publicize it widely. However if someone asks me to my face how I am losing the weight, I just tell them. No excuses. No embarrassment. Proud and happy. It is quite freeing! Sent from my iPad using VST

Shake Question At "full Liquids" Stage

Many of us were on pureed before leaving hospital, and on softs within 2 weeks. I have a theory on the difference between surgeons and I think it connects to indemnity insurance for professionals. The longer they keep you on liquids, the more likely you are to break that level of restriction and cheat or make a mistake. That then leaves you in a less secure place should something go wrong and you seek to sue. I live in a country where suing does not happen. We are protected as a right. And here, we have this surgery and are eating real food quite quickly. And the rate of leaks or post op complications is no different to anywhere else. So I do suspect that the fear of suing leaves some surgeons more likely to place greater or unrealistic expectations on patients post surgery. I may be wrong. But even so, I wouldn't sweat your banana seeds! Sent from my iPad using VST
  11. Oh and I also awake this morning another 700 grams lighter, bringing my weightloss at eight weeks to 28 kilos (62 pounds). I don't attribute this to the wine though! Sent from my iPad using VST
  12. Sassy pants, there is a difference between making a choice to eat or drink something we know to be other than the best for us, and owning that as being a step out of the ordinary, owning a poor choice as a poor choice we made in an informed way and those who make a poor choice, than try to seek validation for it as being okay, or not a poor choice. We all make mistakes. And I would say we will all have times where we eat or drink something that is not the best for our health and wellbeing. But where we differ is those who are prepared to own such decisions for what they are compared to those who will seek validation and attempt to deny that they may have done something less than ideal. Drinking diet coke is a poor nutrition choice. That statement is without judgement. I would go so far as to assert that statement as fact. Someone who chooses to drink diet coke can either say "I know it is a poor choice but I am making it because it makes me feel good regardless" or they can try and argue that drinking diet coke is a good nutrition choice and then attack those who do not agree with claims of them being unsupportive, or unentitled to comment because of having a history of making similar poor choices. The latter usually results in a bit of train wreck of a thread. I had two glasses of wine last night with my sister. It was great, felt normal, and was enjoyable. But it was dumb. I awake this morning dehydrated and with heartburn. And I consumed 210 empty calories. Will i do it again? Highly likely. Will I come in here and try and convince people that it is a sensible choice then get angry when you all don't blindly support me? No. Never. I am accountable for my own decisions. Even the dumb ones. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Making Your Final Goal

What a fantastic site! I love it! Thank you so much for sharing that. My doctor set a goal for me of 70kilos (150 pounds) which at 5'8" seems tiny! But as I lose the weight it seems more and more realistic. However part of me wants to wait and see what my skin decides to do. Congratulations on onederland :-) Sent from my iPad using VST

    Bathroom Question

This is a real problem with chemical sweeteners. I try to avoid these where ever possible. Not just because of the diarrhea but due to the multiple issues inherent in chemical "food". Try to go for products with natural low energy sweeteners like stevia to avoid issues. I am a whole food advocate and recognize others views will vary wildly. Sent from my iPad using VST
  18. I am eight weeks out from surgery and to date everything has gone really well. over the past week I have had several episodes of sudden onset diarrhea, bloating, cramps and wind. This has been bothering me as you can imagine! I think I may have developed post operative lactose intolerance. I am starting to eliminate milk and milk products from today to test this out. I have researched a bit online and find conflicting views on whether or not yoghurt is a no no for lactose intolerance. I love my Greek yoghurt and it has become a Protein mainstay in my diet. Do I need to farewell it? Sent from my iPad using VST
