Eating At A Bbq With People Who Don't Know

I find people are less interested in what I am eating anymore interested in what they are eating. Put food on your plate and move it around, you don't have to eat it! The world according to egg face has some great ideas for things to bring to social situations. Have a look there for ideas.

    Big Mistake!

I eat tuna from an 85 gram tin. That is about 3 oz, or just under. As others have said, why serve yourself such a huge portion? This is a tool. It is still up to you to make the right choices for your own health. Forget feeling full and focus on doing what you know to be the right thing.

    Am I Wrong? :/

You have misread the article. It does not say that people who have weight loss surgery are 50% more likely to be alcoholics than they were before surgery. It says that prior to surgery 7% of patients showed signs of alcohol use disorder and one year later there was no change in this number. However two years after surgery that number had increased to 10%. The study was of mostly RNY and lap band patients. The sleeve isn't mentioned. Those with RNY metabolise alcohol differently than the sleeve.

    Grapes And Raisens

After my first baby, someone gave me grapes in hospital. I ate the bunch and then the nurse came in and freaked on seeing the last grape pop in my mouth. She told me I should not have eaten them and I was very confused, she told me I would see why before too long. I was nursing and sure enough, within the day, my baby had the worst colic ever. It was a great lesson on what goes in and how it affects breast milk so perhaps your doctor is concerned about the wind generating qualities of grapes?

    Coffee

I have had coffee from six weeks out with no issues. Good quality coffee,, in moderation, is an anti oxidant and can contribute to well being and weight loss.
  14. I get some great ideas from forums like this. I also read a tonne of shite that I ignore. I do find it fascinating to watch how others interpret posts. Every thing here is suggestion or personal experience. That is always how I read it. I never read it as instructions. I never write instructions. I share my own experiences and occasionally my own opinions. I have no expectation whatsoever that anyone will wholeheartedly agree with me. It is nice when they do, because I don't feel alone, but I certainly don't seek agreement. I just share. I feel no strong desire to help the stupid. I give my two cents worth and move on with my life. if people want to chuck a hamburger and fries into their blender two weeks out then I could care less whether they listen to my point of view. I will give it, but beyond that I consider it is their life, their sleeve, their choice. I see a few chicken littles on this board, those who are always concerned that if everyone is not following their plan that they will get a leak or regain weight, or their stomach will explode etc. They amuse me more than annoy me. Do gooders will always exist. And that is their intention, to do good. They just don't understand that everyone is different and there is no one true way to live post sleeve. Because that is what this boils down to. There is no one true way to live post sleeve. We each find our own path to health and forums like this can help us in that journey and search but if we look here for the one set of directions we are limiting our own potential well being. Follow your own medical professionals advice and then listen to your body. Learn what you can from forums like this and from others experiences. Try what resonates with you and listen to your body's response. Learn and find your own path.. Share what you discover to help others learn and find their own path. /soapbox

    Intubation

I have had intubation while awake, it is insane but over quickly. If they consider it medically necessary, then just focus on the end goal. You are doing this to improve your life and a little pain and discomfort are a part of the journey.

    Alcohol?

The reason post surgery it is generally I inadvisable to drink is because alcohol thins the blood which can have a damaging effect on internal stitches and staples which take up to six weeks to heal. After this, there is no risks in drinking alcohol beyond what risks alcohol generally poses to everyone. My surgeon and my NUT recommended the occasional red wine as part of a normal and healthy diet. I have enjoyed an occasional wine since I was six weeks out. I continue to lose weight. A glass of red wine takes 8 minutes moderate jogging to burn off.

    Smoking :( Vs. Eating

I suggest changing up your diet and using that as a focus point for when you would otherwise smoke. Also, we find time for things we want to participate in. Find time to exercise. Choose to do it. You will be less tired as a result, plus, exercise feels better when you are non smoker.
