HELP! Why am I so itchy?

Could it be allergies? Some of us experience food intolerances post surgery. Perhaps you are reacting to something new in your new diet?
  3. Lazy is a choice. Just try to remember that. If you chose to be lazy in the future, then that is what your future holds. So why choose that? You hold the power to choose to not be lazy. I know this sounds overly simplistic. But guess what? It is simple. Once we recognise that we have the power to choose to do things differently, this journey gets a whole lot easier.

    Price? Negotiable?

The thought of cut price surgery makes me feel icky. I self paid, and it was not cheap, but I wanted to make sure I had the best possible care. My surgeon offered different packages which included nutritionists etc and there was even an option to add psychologists, gym memberships and personal trainers to the package. So it could be that some aspects of the package deal are negotiable but I wouldn't want to barter on many thing else.....

I, too, find many things sad. Such as the sense of entitlement I saw in this thread and the petty, immature nonsense and flaming attempts i have seen. So perhaps I didn't express myself well. I don't get upset or bothered or angry or irate etc by stuff I read here. Moved, sometimes. Sad, sometimes. Upset? Nope. Strong emotional reaction? Not so much. But then, I use this forum for information exchange, I don't find I need to seek the support etc here that others clearly need. I have an amazing family, great friends and a full on and demanding career. I get most or all of those support needs met there. I am blessed and grateful for that. I don't come here for the support etc like many others appear do so it also makes sense that I don't seek the emotional connections that others seem to seek from these online interactions. It is not that I view others as wrong for seeking something different, far from it, I view it as normal. But it does help others to understand not everyone turns to these forums for the same thing. We all come here with different and/or varying needs. It is wrong to assume that those others asking, responding, and reading the forums here are all going to react the same. :-) Vive Le Difference! Edited to add- and if I was at the library and someone was really rude to the librarian, I would probably react the same way as I did here. Apologise to the librarian for someone else's rudeness and be sure I was grateful to the librarian for their service. Maybe that means I would be hero worshipping the librarian, but who cares? I do what i believe is right and strive for authenticity in my interactions. I may have a 'how rude!' respnse, but, trust me, I am not upset by it. I leave the library and carry on having a great day.

Heh, no. People may attempt to flame but that shite simply has no impact on me and only serves to show others up to be immature and overly self involved :-) I strive for authenticity. Saying thank you felt right after seeing the self entitled demonstrate their ungratefulness. So if people want to try and flame me for showing gratefullness and being true to my own principles? Good luck to them. I still walk away happy in my self and with my choices.

So saying thank you equals hero worship in your world? Around here, we just say thank you to show manners, be polite, and demonstrate that we are grateful. You must either have a lot of heroes or be seen as very ungrateful.

    Dizzy

It sounds like it could be low blood sugar leading to the dizziness. I get this. See your doctor.

  13. I had to remove piercings and still haven't put them back in one year on! On the table I know I was naked, I went in in a hospital gown thing and woke up with a different one on. But I was under a GA so what do I care? LOL. Oh I did have to wear those sexy stockings that work to improve circulation and then over them non slip socks as they had a requirement that I walk into theatre and hop up on the table myself. And why not? It is not like I was sick! As for the strapping down, if they do it it is when you are out. You won't even know so don't worry about it :-)

    should i get a scale

Everyone is different. I weigh myself every single day that I wake up in my own home. It is almost ritualistic, rise, a trip to the bathroom then straight on the scales wearing my birthday suit! I have learnt a lot about my body over the past year from this little morning scale visit. I now know the impact hydration and dehydration can have on that scale number, I can better predict my menstrual cycle than ever before from noticing the dramatic fluctuations I experience like clockwork. I track stalls and have learnt when to shake things up in my diet or exercise routing all based on that number staring up at me each morning. It works for me. It works really well. I have a level of detachment from it though which I think helps stop me obsessing. I don't get emotional when the scale moves up as I am very used to seeing these fluctuations over time and I know that month to month, without fail, the weight I am entering into MFP (where i track my weight loss) is continuously decreasing.

    Paying and this site

Being a website that is openly accessible to the public does not automatically create a public service. Having site owners who want to create something of benefit to people does not automatically require those owners to be philanthropic. You appear to see your right to have this service as being greater than their right to at least cover costs. Do you know what it costs to operate and host a site like this? Particularly with features such as photo uploads and chat? I suggest that if you want a free site for sleeve recipients with all the bells and whistles that you seek here, then start one for yourself. Out of your own financial and intellectual reserves. You think others should have it for free? Then first ask yourself whether you would give it for free.

    Paying and this site

This site is not a public service. Someone has to pay for it. You want extra features? Well it costs. Do people really expect the site owners to do this out of the goodness of their hearts regardless of the impact on their pockets? This is how the world works.

    WTH?

I find the option that someone else should spend their time and money on something in order for me, an anonymous nobody as far as the site owner is concerned, to have 'support' quite baffling. I don't come here for support, initially I came here for information and research. Then I stayed for learnings. I recently returned out of curiosity and as I am nearing the one year point and expanding my workouts more and more I have an increased need for new info. But support? No. I don't expect that and I certainly don't consider it an entitlement, particularly at someone else's expense. I am happy to put up with ads in exchange for my information needs. I have never even been aware of a chat feature, or an IM feature, as I have zero need for it. If I did have a need, such as the support needs others expressed, then I consider that it would be fair to pay for that service.

    Ughhh this is fustrating

I think some surgeons recommend a longer period on liquids to reduce liability risk in case of leaks and other complications. I was on puréed before the first week was out. In fact, I wasn't able to be discharged until I could eat two tablespoons of yoghurt. That said, follow your own surgeon. You picked her or him for a reason so listens to them and do what they say. You do not actually know your body better than they do when it comes to the sleeve. It is essentially a new stomach, one you have almost no knowledge of at this point. They know more. In six months or so, then you will know what your sleeve can and can't do. But right now, you really are kidding yourself if you think you know better than the surgeon.
  19. There is a lot of talk on here about Protein, about carbs and about calories. What I don't see very often is talk about fats. Not the stuff we are trying to shift from our butts and guts, but the good stuff the MUFAs, monounsaturated fatty acids. Cold Water fish, seeds, nuts, avocados, dark chocolate, olives.... Great stuff! Calorie heavy but very, very good for our health and our weight loss, they enhance heart health, protect against chronic disease, and, wonderfully, they target abdominal fat. Do people here track their intake? Are NUTs recommending people ensure to keep their MUFA intake up? I sometimes suspect when I see how few calories some people are consuming that they are not eating these wonderful fats. Especially when they are struggling with weight loss and get stuck in stalls. It is so easy to become so focused on calories and on protein and carbs that we can forget about that other part of the MFP pie chart. Our fats. We have to eat fat to burn fat. Are you consciously choosing your fats?

    Chocolate!

I love an occasional chocolate treat, dark chocolate in moderation is good for us :-)I can't handle anything too sweet so I probably couldn't do a kit Kat.

    MUFAs - beautiful, tasty fats!

@Fiddleman I prefer getting my nutrients from quality food where possible, but agree that supplements can assist when we need to intensify our intake, or when access to quality nutrients is challenged. I do not take any supplements regularly though do at times where I need to. Omega 3, while an essential unsaturated fat, is a poly unsaturated rather than a mono unsaturated :-)
