    Vitamins

I have to take a multivitamin 2x a day, sublingual B-12, and after a month I added Calcium Citrate (1000-1500g/day) since surgery. I also take Biotin.
  3. It may not, but you can't dwell on that. If the scale is going down, then you're going in the right direction. I am 7 weeks out tomorrow and I"ve lost 19 lbs since surgery. It's slow, but it's constant. Weight loss with the band should be at a slower pace (that's what I've been told). Now for some, it may be more, but I'm quite happy with my weight loss so far. If I hadn't had the surgery, I'm quite sure I'd be 20 lbs heaver than I was before surgery. Just take the steps as they come. If you start with a negative vibe, it is most surely to follow you down the path. Good luck in your journey!

    Confused About Proper Restriction Level

I absolutely agree Holly. I am only 7 weeks out and I've only had one fill, but I fix my plate (measure everything out) and that is what I eat. Am I still hungry after my food is gone...sometimes yes, but I have had my meal so I don't eat anything else. I try to hold off between meal hunger with water/CL Tea, but when that no longer satisfies that urge to eat, then I will have a small snack. Usually nuts, string cheese, 1/2 a Protein bar (snack/light meal 10g protein ones). So far I have been successful. I eat less than 1200 calories everyday. I use myfitnesspal to monitor my meals/exercise. I have lost 19 lbs since surgery (6/19) and 32 lbs since January (my heaviest). You have to do what works for you within the guidelines given to you. After my first fill, the PA told me I am on my own to decide if I need fills or not. There is no schedule. So now I really have to pay attention to my band. So far, I'm OK with where I am. I don't ever want to be too tight. I have only 3cc's in a 10cc band. I'm going to stay here for a while to see how I'm doing.
  6. I was not told to do liquids, mushy, food. I asked because I had read it here. My surgeon said "Nope, I want you to eat real food". So I did. Chewed well and had no problems. But it was my first fill. After my fill, I feel full for a little longer, but still not any "real" restriction. I will stay at this fill for a while then ask for another. My doc doesn't set a schedule. First fill at 6 weeks, then as needed.
  7. Congrats on being banded sylvia....nothing to be nervous about. My fill appointment was just this past Monday. I got 3 ccs in my 10 cc band. It was easy. I hope your appointment goes well. Make sure Water goes down ok before you leave the office. Good Luck on your journey.

    Don't Weigh Myself?!?!?!?!?!

I weigh myself once a week. I would go nuts if I weighed everyday. I think you should follow your drs schedule. YOu may get discouraged if you "gain an ounce" like you said. Good luck in your journey
  9. I had my first fill yesterday. The hardest part was trying to locate the port. Once she found it, in the saline went and I left. I was released on regular food. I had BBQ pork for dinner last night. I have to go slow and chew, chew, chew as we all do, but I had no trouble. All surgeons are different, just follow what guidelines yours gives you. Good Luck...it was really not bad at all. I had no soreness...the worse part for me was taking the bandaid off!

    Confused About Proper Restriction Level

I'm glad you asked this Indy...I have some of the same concerns. I got for my first fill on Monday. I read on here a lot about people eating 3 or 4 bites and being full....and I say to myself "How can this be good for you?" That can't possibly be the point. Yes, I realize I need to loose weight, but we also need to eat healthy and fulfill the requirements set out before us. Thank you Mis for clarifying some things.
  12. Patty, I just realized your surgery is tomorrow! Congratulations and we'll see you on the other side! I am going through the same thing. I'm so hungry and my first fill is Monday. I know I probably won't get much relief from the hunger, but I'm drinking my Water. I feel like I slosh when I walk but I'm still hungry, My nutritionist said not to snack between meals, but that is a no go. I do choose healthier Snacks (atkins Protein bars, cottage cheese, laughing cow cheese, etc). Right now, I just ate a Protein Bar 45 minutes ago...I could literally eat my desk right now....I'm drinking... We'll get through this together. I love this board...great for support

Clothing Through The Stages Of Weight Loss

WOW Dy, you had surgery after me and you've already had 3 fills. I go for my first a week from today. YOu are doing great! Congrats on the loss. I have not dropped any pants sizes yet, BUT my clothes are fitting differently. My shirts are looser and actually look nice and I don't look like a sausage. I guess I will be looking for a good support/body shaper in the winter. Good Luck to you all in your journey!
  14. I know that every surgeon is different and all our eating regulations are different, but I was told no corn or potatoes for the first 3 - 6 months. I'm glad you were able to get some relief. I would stay away from the corn for a little while, but certainly try it again as you begin to incorporate more food into your diet.

    First Fill

I just scheduled my first fill for July 30th. I'm excited. I'm hoping for some restriction, but I'm not expecting any. I need to NOT be hungry between meals. My nutritionist does not want me eating between meals. It is very difficult to get 60 - 80 g of Protein in 3 meals/day. Any suggestions?

    Seafood...

I had baked catfish last night for dinner and it was DELIGHTFUL! I've also had shrimp. No problems.

    Coffee/tea

I just went back to coffee at 3 weeks post op. I was drinking decaf tea at home, but I can't do decaf coffee. I usually have one cup of coffee in the morning, then at home I drink regular tea with splenda. Usually at work I have some tea flavored something in my Water (I dislike plain water SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH).

    Scrambled Eggs

I do not have any trouble with scrambled eggs. I have them most mornings to jump start the protein in the morning. I usually have 2% cheese on them as well. I know most foods will be a trial and error thing until I know what I can and cannot eat. I am 2 days short of a month post banding.

    Today I Am Taking Control!!!

I'm released to exercise on Monday. I have been walking on the treadmill. And using the elliptical. I'm ready to do some "real" workouts. Check with your surgeon to be sure.

    Lapband Restaurant Card

My surgeon and I had that conversation just Monday when I went for my followup. He said he could give me one, but that the choices on most kid's menus were horrible food choices. I decided not to get it.
