I'm a nursing student so I need some tips on high protein snacks on the go. It's hard for me to bring chicken breast or high protein meats to class and clnical. Does anyone have any tips on what to eat on the go to feel full? I am still on soft foods but am tolerating crackers. I have been eating wheat thins to increase my fiber intake, but they aren't too great for protein.

So I stopped taking my calcium citrate recently because it gives me such horrible constipation (sorry for the TMI). My doctor was not please so I am now taking it again daily, but the constipation has returned. I've looked into taking a daily stool softener, but the only ones I can find are gelcaps which we can't take after the sleeve. Does anyone have any recommendations? I want to take my vitamins, but cannot handle this bowel issue. Any recommendations would be appreciated!!

Lynda, Do you use the 100 mg capsules? I just picked them up today so I'm hoping they work. They look like gelcaps, but I'm assuming they are okay if your program recommended them. Thanks!! -
Sorry for posting about liquid Vitamins, I've read the other posts, but haven't found my answer. Which liquid vitamins do people recommend? I'm so worried about the taste, I tend to get very nauseous so any recommendations regarding taste would be helpful. I found the Wellese brand and am debating going with them. I haven't taken my vitamins in 4 weeks because the chewables make me so sick so I really need to step it up and start taking some. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I just decided to try isopure powder and I got the Dutch chocolate. I like the flavor but was wondering if anyone could recommend any other good flavors? Also I paid $50 for 3 lbs and using 2 scoops in a shake won't last me a month! Any good sites you can recommend with better prices? Thanks!!

Thank you! I didn't know that. I've been trying to see a nutritionist but my insurance is giving me a hard time. I need to learn more about all of this. I appreciate your input.

Thank you! Do you recommend one scoop in the morning and one scoop later in the day? I'm new to protein shakes obviously!

I'm 25 years old and had my sleeve done on August 14, 2012. Some days I really find myself regetting my decision. I obviously thought about it for months and weighed the pros and cons. However, I didn't expect eating to be so difficult. I expected that I would have to eat smaller portions, but I think the social aspect of it is really started to hit me hard. I've lost a total of 34.5 pounds so far and for that, I am grateful. My blood pressure is normal now and overall, I feel physically better. Emotionally, I'm tearing myself up. Some days I cry and cry regretting what I've done because life is so different now. I picture myself when I'm 40 and have kids and how I will never be a "normal mom" because I can't have birthday cake with my kids or celebrate like everyone else does with food because of my smaller stomach. Just wondering if anyone else experiences this, I'm struggling and could use some support/insight.

Thank you for all of the support!! It is nice to know that I am not alone in this journey.

I am 2 months post op and wondering what kind of exercise people at the same stage as me are doing? I started seeing a trainer and we do weight and strength, nothing too heavy. Curious to see what you all are doing for your exercise.
-
Thank you for all the tips! I am working my way into this exercising thing. It's not as easy as I was hoping!
-
Thank you! What kind of protein shakes do you all use? I've been researching all these different kinds, but would appreciate some tips on what works best post-op.

I was sleeved 8/14 and am progressing from "soft foods" to regular foods. I've lost a total of 28 lbs so far which I'm happy about. However, my emotions have been a mess. I am constantly up and down, and getting so depressed and angry some days. It's getting really hard to handle. I am on antidepressants, but wondering if they're less effective now due to my sleeve. Has anyone else experienced emotional issues? I cry a lot now and find my temper is much shorter than it was before.

I was sleeved 8/14/12 and have a long history of depression and anxiety. Before surgery I was taking Wellbutrin XL 300 mg and 1-2 mg of klonopin daily to manage my symptoms. Now I am a little over a month out of surgery and I feel as if these medications have no effect. I am constantly experiencing mood swings and find my temper to be much shorter. Anyone experience this? I'm debating changing my meds, but don't know is this is normal post op behavior.

I am 3 weeks post op and trying so hard to get calories in. I am cleared to have tender meat and ground meat, but every time I do I literally feel like I'm going to throw up. I need to sit there for about twenty minutes until the discomfort goes away. Has anyone else experienced difficulty like this? Does it ever get easier to eat?

I have the same problem, it just feels like its sitting in my chest and isn't moving. And I know we aren't supposed to drink for 30 minutes after meals but all I want to do is chug water and force the food down. I've cries about it too. It's so depressing and definitely not easy to get used to

Hi everyone, I had my VSG on Tuesday, August 14th so today makes me 2 days post op. I'm having a lot of trouble drinking any water at all and drinking the protein and taking my vitamins is a struggle. Has anyone experienced this? The surgeon says my stomach is still swollen and it's going to be rough at first but I don't want to risk dehydration or malnutrition!
-
Every time I swallow water or my meds I get this horrible pain throughout my stomach and abdomen! It comes and goes but it's very sharp at first. Is this what everyone refers to as gas pains? I literally cringe when I feel them coming.
-
Thank you everyone! Just hearing that I'm not alone and it will get better is encouraging. Today is day 3..hoping for a better day than yesterday!!

Every time I have a Popsicle i feel so full and the water fills me up too. I am starting to get upset about this whole situation and questioning whether this is worth it. I just need to know its going to get better and it will be worth it. This pain is becoming too much and I wish it would just go away.

Hi friends! My time has finally come! I am having VSG next Thursday! (8/16) I am beyond nervous. I've heard the first 2 days after surgery are the worst! Does anyone care to offer advice or suggestions? I need some words of encouragement and to help me relax!
