Any Of You Sleevers On Pinterest? I Need Food Ideas.
thehappycat replied to thehappycat's topic in Food and Nutrition
Follow away, Bos. I'm always looking for new Pinterest buddies. Besides, I have no sleevers on my Pinterest. -
Uh oh, sorry to hear you're having some complications. I gave in to my craving for soda about six weeks after I was sleeved. It tasted totally different and I felt so bloated afterwards. I decided, never again! Keep in mind, I went from drinking 4 to 5 cans of (diet) soda a day to none at all. Now, my Crystal Lite is my drink of choice. Hang in there, it will get easier as you adjust to the new diet. When you see the results, you'll know it was all totally worth it!

August Sleevers..what Is The Progress

Update! I was weighed yesterday and I am down 13 more lbs! This makes my total loss 44 lbs. So excited! -
Wow! That is amazing! Mega congrats! Take yourself out to Celebrate tonight. You have earned it.

So I've only been weighing myself at the doctor's office with his super cool scale. The last time I was weighed was at my 3 month check up (Oct 13ish). I'm going in today for a counseling session and a fitness session and I'm wondering if I should weigh myself since I'm there. I haven't been weighing myself because I put a ton of emphasis on the numbers on the scale, vs. how I feel/how clothes fit, etc. If I haven't lost weight, I will be pretty upset. I was planning on weighing myself on my 5 month check up in December, but I'm wondering if I should just do it now so I can update MFP and my 4 month post-op photos. What do you guys think?

Should I Weigh Myself Today?

Thanks guys! I like my doc's scale because it shows fat mass and lean body mass. So even if I have put on some muscle, it will show up on the print out. If I haven't lost any weight or gained any muscle I will be back on later, in tears, to tell you all about it. -
I've never heard of that diet before. Where did you find out about it? Did you ask your doc about it? Are you pre-op or post-op?

Did Anyone Make A Food Bucket List?
thehappycat replied to LeahMae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes. It was quite extensive. It might sound silly, but I feel like I really needed to be able to say "good bye" to my favorite foods. I feel like I have closure on that part of my life and I move on to the healthy part. -
So we all will go out to eat at one time or another. What are some tasty dishes you've found that are good for sleevers? I just went to Longhorn Steakhouse with my MIL. One of their dishes is a flat ironed steak. Get it with a salad and steamed broccoli and you can have 2+ healthy meals out of it. What do you guys recommend?

Cheesy Experience
thehappycat replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are you feeling now? Any reflux or stomach pains? My doc told me dairy was fine, especially so far out. I don't see why it would be a problem. Especially just one piece. Are you having "blockage" problems? -
I love the peppercorn steak they have on their 550 menu. It's delish! Good luck with the sleeve. Wishing you a smooth surgery and a quick recovery!

August Sleevers..what Is The Progress
thehappycat replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in Food and Nutrition
Sleeved August 13. Weight day of surgery: 312 Last weigh in (Oct 14): 281.5 so 30.5 lbs weight loss Earring around 800-1000 calories per day. It varies with my exercise. Working out regularly and feeling great! I finally kicked my soda habit. Something I thought I would never do. -
So I've been really working hard on getting Protein in while keeping the carbs low. However, some days I get my 90 grams of protein while my carbs are at 16, 18, 20. I should have 45 per day. Is this a problem?
-
You're worried about a salad? I thought you were going to say you ate an entire chocolate cake or something. Anyway, there's nothing to worry about. Before my op I just had to do liquids only for one day and my surgery went perfectly. I can't imagine a salad would be that detrimental.

Looking To Do The Sleeve In Mexico
thehappycat replied to mjcrawfo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there! Welcome to the forum! This is a great resource to help you out during your journey. I got my sleeve done in the US as my crappy insurance actually covered something, so I can't help you with the Mexico questions. But feel free to ask any questions you have. There are so many helpful people on the forum. -
So I haven't been buying bras lately because they're too freaking expensive and I'm losing weight. So I eventually got down to 2. Both were the same size, but one was far too big while the other fit fine. This morning I'm getting dressed and I realize that the underwire in my good bra snapped and there's no repairing it. I go to Torrid to find a new bra. I was wearing 44DD before my surgery, three months and more than 30 lbs ago. The sales girl measures me at a 44D. I grab a 44D and a 44DD and try them on. Neither fit. Both are too small. Frustrated I grab a 44DDD and it fits! WTF? How did my boobs manage to go up a cup size when I've gone down two dress sizes? Has anyone had this happen to them? I am baffled. Also, I'm 27 and well beyond the age where I could possibly get a final growth spurt.
-
Nice try, fellas. But no. My boobs aren't that great to begin with. Anyway, the bras were the same brand. I really love Torrid clothing and I get most of my clothes from there. The only non-Torrid bra I have is a Maidenform bra which is a 44DD and is now too big. Unless something else happens, I'm just going to let it go. Bigger boobs aren't really a health issue.

Is There A Such Thing As Too Few Carbs?

That's good. I was worried I was in for another talking to during my next check up, lol. -

Go to friends ---> add a friend (at the bottom), then type in your name, their username and you can write a message, I usually put that I found them on the forum. I'm thehappycat. Add me! -
My doc told me 90 grams of Protein per day and half of my protein intake can be carbs. So if I have 90 grams of protein, I can have 45 carbs. 100 grams of protein and I can have 50 carbs, so on so forth. But yeah, check with your doc specifically. Everyone is different.

Congrats! Hope everything goes smoothly and your recovery is quick.

If I want to order off the kid's/senior's menu, I start by saying I just had surgery and I'm on a really strict diet and can only have a little bit of food. So far no one has told me no. But always be sure to leave a nice tip when you're done. Sometimes servers won't let you do it because the kid's menu has lower prices, therefore a lower total, therefore a lower tip for them. So if they let you, treat them well. They will appreciate it.
