A big step up would be not having the program yell at me for eating too few calories every day, lol. Also, I like the friends and status updates. It's always fun to see how other people are doing. A "like" feature would be nice too. A super cool feature would be that you would be able to print out reports on your progress to take to your doctor. Something with just your averages with date parameters you could set would be great. -
That would explain a lot.

Does anyone have experience cooking/baking with soy flour? I've tried two different biscuit recipes so far and neither of them were very good. It takes so grainy and strong. How do you get soy biscuits to taste like real biscuits?

I'm cooking with soy flour. I bought it in the grocery store. I don't think it's the same thing that you're thinking of.

Go to the MFP website --> http://www.myfitnesspal.com --> log in using your username and password --> Go to the "Food" tab --> go to "goals" --> to go "change goals" --> hit "custom" --> enter your nutrient requirements and hit save. You're done! I changed mine to reflect the amount of carbs and Protein I need and it's been working wonderfully for me. Add me when you get a chance: thehappycat -
Try a different flavor. I can't imagine an apple pie Protein bar tasting any good. I've tried three flavors now and I've liked them all. I've steered clear of apple pie and the lemon one. I loathe lemon.

Basic Plastic Surgery Research?
thehappycat replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I think the best thing to do would be to get a consultation with a doc in your area and ask him/her all your questions. The problem with internet research is not everyone does everything the same way, information could be outdated or even just plain wrong, etc. If you find a doctor you feel comfortable with you can get his/her opinion on what you should have done and go from there. I've been looking at surgery too and found a doc I like. I just need to finish losing the weight, lol. Here's a site I used while researching: http://www.plasticsurgeryportal.com/faq.cfm Good luck with everything! -

What type of surgery are you looking to get done? -
I've tried the peanut butter fudge ones and the wild berry and they were delicious! You can get single bars at GNC if you want to try some out. I really like them and keep one in my purse just in case.

Anyone Been Denied By Surgeon B/c Of Hernia?
thehappycat replied to cmathews77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds weird. I had a hernia repair during my surgery. I had no idea I had a hernia at all, but when I woke up in the recovery room and they told me they had fixed a hernia while they were in there. I just thought, "Surgery bonus!" I'd press the issue a little more and see if you can get more info. I don't see why a hernia would prevent you from being sleeved. -

Shake As Meal Or Shake As Snack?...i'm Confused.
thehappycat replied to Vidalia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be sure to read all the labels. A lot of shakes will have all of their guidelines on them. I got some protein from GNC only to read, amounts later, that its not formulated for weight loss. ^^;;;; if you're not sure, ask your doc or NUT. They can point you in the right direction. -
Shake As Meal Or Shake As Snack?...i'm Confused.
thehappycat replied to Vidalia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the shake. Some are meant to be meal replacement and others are snacks. What kind of shakes are you drinking? -
Good Cookbook For Non-Cooks
thehappycat replied to ICanDoThisVA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Btw, where in VA are you from? I'm originally from the Hampton Roads area, but I live in Chase City (in between South Hill and South Boston) now. -
Hey there! Sounds like you're doing great! Way to go! Do you have a goal weight? Do you have another place to get NUT-like advice? I've read some really good weight loss books in my time, but none of them have been anything like this diet. Can't wait to see you around the forum!

Woot, woot! Congrats on your loss! You should be mega proud.

Alcohol After Surgery
thehappycat replied to Bawse52's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard that booze will knock you flat after the sleeve. I had little to no tolerance BEFORE surgery, so now I'm paranoid about trying any alcohol at all. My MIL gave me a teaspoon of Everclear with herbs in it when I felt like I was coming down with a cold and a teaspoon full made me feel like I was going to pass out. I think I'll just stay away from cocktails indefinitely. Besides, my fiance can't drink so I know he feels better when I'm sipping on Water with him. -
Good Cookbook For Non-Cooks
thehappycat replied to ICanDoThisVA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get most of my recipes online. They're free and I can usually find something that will work for me in a few minutes. I save all the recipes I like (that are also easy to make) to my Pinterest and that has been my cookbook. I find the recipes on my iPad when I'm in the kitchen. This is my board. http://pinterest.com/starlabranche/high-protein-food/ -
