Help: Does Weight Loss Just Happen?
jeani81 replied to supportRO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am early in this process but one thing I have noticed is that portion sizes and what you are eating. Having high protein doesn't always mean you should eat it. You do need to watch the calories and fat that is in the food. My doctor has been very good at telling me the does and don'ts, you still need to do low calorie and sugar free. I hope this helps. -
It would seem to me that your portion sizes need to be adjusted. It's not only about the protein if what you are eating for your protein is high in fat. Maybe a fill would help with the hunger. The diet that my doctor has given me says 4oz should be your whole meal. Maybe even some more info from a dietician would be helpful, to figure out portions and meal ideas.

Am I Crazy For Wanting Lap Band Surgery?
jeani81 replied to lrhodes46's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too had alot of people tell me I was too lazy and stupid for wanting surgery. I told no one except my husband, kids, mother in law and just a few others. I come from an obese family and my father died in his early thirties due to his obesity so for me to make this decision, I know I did the right thing. No one knows what your life is about and how you've suffered so it is a choice that only you can make. I made my decision and said the he'll with everyone else. -
That is wonderful. It makes you feel so good once things start going right. Congrats

Started Solid Foods And Not Eating So Healthy!!!
jeani81 replied to tanieya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First thing I would say is to limit your carbs, they are so bad for you. I would also suggest using low fat or low sugar condiments which I didn't know was out there but you can try to find healthier options of just about anything. Use the protein shakes as a filler also. -
Just remember tomorrow will be your new birth date. You are making the choice for a new life. Just try not to get too anxious before you go in. You'll do great.

I am 11 days out and currently 25lbs down. I have stuck to the doctors orders very strictly and I do not puree any food so I can eat it. My doctor told me that alot of people will puree up anything thinking that they will still lose weight but me personally I don't want to suck my meals down.

Should You Eat If You're Not Feeling Hungry?
jeani81 replied to apeabody88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor explained to me that no matter what you should always eat three meals. Your body needs to function and you don't want it to go into starvation mode and start storing everything. -
I was banded on 5/24 and to be completey honest I have felt this way also but all I have to do is think of the reason why I got this surgery in the first place. I am obese and that in itself has many risks to it so to me the possibility of complications just didn't outweigh what good I was doing for myself. Just stay positive.

5 Days Post Op And Hungry ??
jeani81 replied to Linze's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it is normal, I felt so hungry for so long. I am only 11 days out and I'm finally just feeling like I'm not hungry all the time. Best advice I can give is drink more water, it doesn't really take the edge off but it helps me. -

I am currently 10 days out and I went through this severely. I wanted to cry but it even hurt to cry. I am so much more positive after joining this group and reading all the positive posts. I would definantly stay away from the negative posts on here just to keep your own mood up but just hang in there. It's a long road but in a few months it will all be so much better.

hi my name is Jeanine and I had the lap band on 5/24 and have been doing pretty well so far. I do have horrible hunger that I am hoping will go away when I start on actual foods and not just the liquids. I am looking to make some friends and be able to experience this whole process with others.

I was banded on the 24th and am still having issues with sleeping. As for the pain meds, I got off them the second day home. Just hang in there it will get better.
