Help Im A Failure At Lap Band
jeani81 replied to Wendy Peters's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To be honest so many are relying on the band, the band is only a tool you need to become accountable for your food choices and amounts you are eating. Go back to the basics. Eat protein first and stick to the 1/2 - 1 cup portion sizes, if needed drink protein between meals. Get yourself on some sort of exercise schedule. Seeing a therapist may help also but you've got to start somewhere and begin again -
Having Trouble Eating Enough
jeani81 replied to neece1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like you also. I hardly ever make it to 900 calories in a day, I exercise and am losing about 10 lbs a month. I do think about food but I have restriction and have from the beginning. I guess I don't worry so much about how much I'm eating but more about how healthy I'm eating -
The stuck feeling is more in the middle of your chest, not under the rib age for me

I have a sister that went from one extreme to another. She was over 400lbs when she started and lost over 200lbs in less then a year. She is over 6ft tall and she got so obsessed with food and weight that once she hit goal weight she still wouldn't eat and began starving herself and this lead her to be put in the hospital and her organs started shutting down. They fed her intravenous for weeks and she had to take a lot of vitamins and drink protein. You need to speak to a nutritionist and find out how many calories you need for your body to function correctly

I asked my surgeon and I have a 14cc band because my stomach is shorter and wider. He told me someone with a skinnier longer stomach would most likely get a 10 cc band.

Unfortunately this is why it's called bandster hell you drink your protein and use your willpower

I thought the samething when I had surgery but I'm now almost 2 months post op and down just about 50lbs and that means so much to me. I even went as far as having a total breakdown and crying a few days after surgery so hang in there it will be well worth it.

Dizziness And Passing Out
jeani81 replied to bluetigereyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started having the same issue just after I passed out having my first fill. I have been dizzy or very smears feeling off and on since then. I have issues with my vagas nerve which is the actual cause of my passing out. That may be something to look into and also I am finding with more restriction I am eating very little which can make blood sugar low. I would definantly just put a call into the surgeon before you leave for vacation. You don't want to have major issues while on vacation if it can be helped. -
I actually only told a few close family and no friends. It wasn't to just last week at 6 weeks post op when people started to notice that I was losing weight that I told people I got it done. I actually just made a post on Facebook. Alot of people thought I took the easy way out but I don't think people are properly educated on lap band to understand how much work it is. If your proud of your decision that's all that matters.

When Did They Notice?
jeani81 replied to texas-bandette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found it that people that don't see me all the time noticed I lost weight with just 25lbs but for people who haven't seen me it seems as now that I've lost 48lbs everyone is noticing. I know I've lost weight but it is harder for me to see. My clothes are definantly literally falling off me now. -
Every goal met along this journey is big news and should be treated that way. I'm just at the beginning of my journey but the small accomplishments are what keep you striving for the larger.

First Band Fill, What Can I Expect?
jeani81 replied to didixo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally didn't feel any pain with fill. My doctor doesn't numb when they do it. I unfortunately have this issue with passing out after because of the vagas nerve. I have more restriction now and have to be super careful with what I eat. -
Good luck with you fill.

Thought what I felt before was being stuck but I started sliming and ran to the bathroom heaving not to bring hardly anything up. I'm still hurting but I'm hoping the papaya enzyme helps. This taught me a lesson. Chew chew chew.

I got banded may 24th and had my first fill of 4cc on July 10th. I have had restriction throughout my journey. I got my fill and have more restriction now. My fill wasnt great either because I ended up passing out. I think the main thing to remember is to stick to the 1/2 to 1 cup at each meal. I have done that this whole time and have done pretty well.

I only told a few family members. Just recently I put it on my Facebook page because it seems everyone has such a horrible opinion on be banded. Everyone thinks it's the easy way out. For what reason I don't know, I think this is a pretty hard choice because you have to work hard. I got a few responses back but other then that I don't care what anyone thinks or says.

For me I want to have a beach wedding in 2015 for our 15th wedding anniversary since we just went to the courthouse. I want to be able to run without getting out of breath. Wear a bathing suit and feel comfortable in it. Look and feel healthy again. Be able to shop in a normal store and not have to pay extra for clothing. To go horseback riding with my husband. To wear shorts again. To walk into Victoria secrets and buy something.

2 Weeks Out, Eating Almost As Much As Before
jeani81 replied to lucypets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The biggest thing at this time is to follow your doctors diet. My doctor told me to eat only 1/2 cup to a cup 3 times a day and that is what I have done since I was banded on 5/24. I was way too scared to stretch my pouch out to go past what my doctor wanted me to eat. -
I have lost 8 5pm bags
-
I just got my bills and my bill from the hospital that was 19,800 and I have 2,300 to pay them. I have around 300 for anestisia and prepaid 600 to the surgeon. I have bcbs north Carolina but I was told all bcbs is different. Your bill seems very high. I would definantly check into it.

Port Location- Left Or Right Side?
jeani81 replied to Rojasanoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is on my right side -
Went in for my first fill today and all went well. I thought it was going to be so much worse. The doctor helped me up and I drank my water and got up to go. All was fine. I get out to the front desk and the last thing I remember was getting helped up off the floor. I had passed out in a room full of people. Has anyone else ever went through this?
