What's up fellas. I started playing golf again after about 3 to 4 weeks....basically as soon as the soreness went away. I've got to warn you newly banded golfers, the weight loss definitely effects your swing. I've been playing for almost 20yrs, and i was having problems getting balanced. Then it seemed like I could definitely get my hips through a lot faster (w/o a big gut in the way) and contracted a bad case of the sh&*ks. I generally shoot in the low to mid 80s and actually shot a 120 something at the low point. I've sinced slowed my tempo down and am having a lot of fun playing golf without the extra weight. Still not back all the way, but I'm still losing weight too.

Hey sorry. Been in hell the past few weeks. I trade mortgage derivatives and mortgage bonds. In case you haven't heard my whole market is going to hell right now. losing weight though. Was down to 221 in my hotel room scale the other night. how's it going with you

Here is my theory on fills. I just paid several thousands of dollars in cash for the surgery, went through all of the preop visits and dieting, then recovered for several weeks. If I need a fill, I'm getting on the phone and getting in there. Same thing if it's too restrictive. I've read a lot of threads about banders that aren't seeing results on these forums not really being proactive about getting their band adjusted(of course, they may not be eating right and exercising either). Here is what I want to know. Anybody on here that has had to stay on their doctor about getting adjustments and getting their fill level right? How did the doctor respond to that? Do you agree that you should actively put pressure on the doctor to get it right and not just settle for your next appointment which may be 3 months in the future? Just curious how other bandsters view this subject.....

dang... Having to watch Rosie if I lose the competition would make me want to vomit everyday... Probably effective for weightloss, but could cause problems with the band
-
How often do you guys weigh yourself? I do it atleast every morning, sometimes a few times per day. I can't help it.

Works for me Brew. I guess i'm shooting to drop another 15 to 20lbs by 5/31...which is cool, because after the man challenge, I'll be shooting to break 200. Nice timing for the competition.

wasabubblebutt - haha. that is my favorite Bushism of all time! My 2nd favorite, which we heard at work on CNN one day (note that popular), "Today, Americans are finding more money in their wallets....which is good, particularly if you happen to own a wallet"

6 1/2 and almost 4? why tell them at all? I personally would just let them be kids and not risk them worrying or struggling to understand what you're doing. This is a very adult decision you're making. just me.....

that's a great story jesse. I have a 2yr old son now and started this band thing when he was born. I was up to 270 around the time he was born. I'm an active guy and wanted to have the stamina to teach him how to wake board, golf, ski/snowboard, and otherwise just be an energetic father. I also want to teach him the value of exercise and nutrition...something my parents never did. I'm down about 45lbs from when he was born and can tell a huge difference. I actually started lifting again this week..

I like it Brew. Let's do it.. Maybe we can make the competition go through July 4th or something?

We've got 4 of us now who want to do the weight loss challenge. Since we're all with in reach of 200 flat, maybe we should make that our goal. I know, I for one, will do frikkin cart wheels when I see 199 for the first time. Obviously, the prize of making the loser post a pic of himself in a pink tutu (sp?) on the before/after board wasn't very popular (I was only kidding btw anyway).

I view soda as sugar, syrups, artificials chemicals, and/or carcinogens...not to mention the carbination thing. Nothing of value in ANY soft drink.. Been off the juice since 1/1/2007.

Pressuring your Dr. about Fills
RowdyReptile replied to RowdyReptile's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I actually have no clue about erosion/slipping. Is there even a link between getting your band adjusted when you need to and erosion/slipping anyway? -
they scheduled me for May 8th, but I called in today and they're letting me come in tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know what they say. Can't let you get to far ahead of me....I gotta break that 200 mark before you

"Oh yeah, salad = crunchy Water, drizzled with fat and topped with fat and carbs." LOL. I can't stop laughing at this Wheetsin..

help me, guys - should I go in for an unfill ?
RowdyReptile replied to fitzgerald's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
fitz..no offense to your doctor, but i would stop drinking the soft drinks. 95 percent of banders say their dr. says no carbonation. -
I'm 4 weeks out and called my doc today to move up my first fill appointment. Anyway, they can get me in tomorrow. Not sure if they'll do a fill or not, but I'll let you guys know.

x-ray chic - i was banded on 3/16 and played softball last thursday. I was sore around the port for a few days. Probably still healing down there.

you should work on your triceps and biceps. if you have access to machines, to work your triceps you can do dips. That's where you stand in front of the machine, lock your elbows down on your sides, and press the bar down from about waist height (with your hands out in front of your body) down into your groin area.. you could just ask a trainer at a gym. Also, if you have some light dumbbells, probably around 2lbs for a lady, hold it straight above your head, lock your elbow in place, and just dip it behind your head and bring it back up. Make sure to leave your elbow pointed straight up toward the ceiling and use it like a henge. Those work really well. There are also some machines that are nice too. for biceps (in the front of your upper arm) do curls. hope that helps......

Thanks Harlito. I guess I was more concerned about stretching the pouch out, than getting sick. On a manly note, I hate this time of year. SO long until football season starts. I enjoy baseball and golf, but football season is awesome. Going to see the Gators spring game with my 2yr old son Saturday. Will be his first trip to the Swamp....
