"Haha, as long as I don't hear go gators ever again. :D"... I might need a lap band for my mouth then..

Wow Hlayne.. FSU and Tennessee.. Can we be still be friends:) Go Gators. Pam. I've been going through the same thing with the Pre-Op visits concerning people throwing in their little comments about why i'm being banded. The nurse for the GI testing pulled me aside and told me to just drink a few less beers. I don't even drink beer... so you can see how effective that suggestion was. Bottom line is, you know your weight struggles and what your health history has been. For me, I also considered many of the obesity related ailments in my family. I turn 30 in a few weeks and I decided (after 6months of consideration) the band was the tool I needed to take care of being overweight for good. At this point, I'm almost ignoring some of the people who make comments like that.

It's probably best once you've lost weight to lose the baggy cloths and pleated pants.. Makes you look fatter

Did the pre-op visit today.. The surgery facility didn't take Am Ex, so they screwed me out of a billion sky miles. Surgery set to go at 8am next Friday.

oh.. one other thing. with my job, I end up doing a lot of entertaining of investment banker types, which generally leads to having 4 course meals and several bottles of wine (which is part of the reason I got to 250 in the first place). anyone had to deal with dinner meeting type situations after being banded? I'm not telling people I'm doing this. The guys in my profression sort of have the reputation of going over board at these dinners too. Crazy appetizers, big steaks, the whole 9 yards. Any advice on how to "stay below the radar" at on these occasions? I talked to one of my good friends, who has also struggled with this. He probably only needed to lose about 15 pounds though. He actually ditched the alcohol and started eating organic foods. When someone at dinner asks him why he's eating like a little girl, he just says because i want to live passed 40. Generally, the guy harrassing him doesn't have much to say after that. I guess there's a certain element of comrodary (sp?) when you're eating like a glutton.

Lost about 10 pounds so far fellas.. surgery is still a week and 1/2 away. I have to travel about a week after surgery on business. Anyone already banded think that would be a problem?

Hey Rowdy, How was the premiere??? Chris Premier was awesome man.. Was a really fun event. Kelly Preston is smokin hot. Got to meet them both and got autographs and pics with them. Had a few drinks. Not sure that is on the pre-op diet. whoops. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

i think so. I've been pretty comfortable with the decision after weighing it for a few months.

Good stuff Andre. I weigh about 245 and am being banded in two weeks. Hope to get down to around 180. I actually feel pretty comfortable, personally, at 220. I lift weights and sort of have a big frame anyway.. BMI of 39. My problem has been getting down to 220, getting satisfied w/myself and then blowing up to 250 range, did that every year for about 10yrs now. I know that's not healthy and I turn 30 the week after my surgery...... why i decided to do it. I don't want to live like that in my 30s.

will do. it does look funny

What's up guys. Nice to see the man thread. Speaking of football, I can't wait to sit in the Swamp, be comfortable in my seat, and watch Tebow maul linebackers. Do you guys sweat less too, when you've lost the weight. My wife always brings my an extra tee shirt to games... Of course its usually 100% humidity and 100 degrees in G'ville.

Hi all. I'm being banded on March 16th. Just curious, did anyone (or are you planning on) keeping the procedure a secret to coworkers and friends? I can just imagine the humiliation from my boys at work if they knew.
