Here's something to look out for. I usually get protein shakes from the fitness club i belong too. They contain whey protein, pb, a banana, ice and some kind of dairy. They make these in a blender. They must get really airated when they're blending them, because it felt like I swallowed a bowling ball the whole afternoon after I drank one. So - maybe those aren't a good idea after being banded

sounds good Machelle. you could be on to something. I tell you, the worst part of all of this has been covering it up with my friends and family...I'm a closet bandster.

I have a question.. If you're cruising a long losing weight, maybe even before your first fill, will the Dr. not fill you as long as you continue to do well? Does he get feedback from you on what you're eating? Getting over filled sounds really sucky. I'm not a snacker or a junk food person...more of a big portion kind of guy. Before you had a fill, could you sit down and eat a whole porterhouse with all of the fixins? Also, I've got this pretty nasty after taste in my mouth and my wife says my breath stinks now. Maybe has something to do with slimfast shakes or soup. Anyway, it's gross and makes me not want to eat at all anyway... I think I barely squeezed in 500 calories today.

hey.. anyone have a go tee or beard because your face looks like a beach ball w/o it? I'm looking forward to shaving this puppy off when I reach goal weight.

i have UHC, had a BMI of 40 w/no health issues. they denied me. Good luck. Had surgery on Friday and am doing great though

BMI 35 NYer Hoping to be banded soon

I'm a lower BMI bandster and my insurance did NOT cover it. I don't have any obesity related illnesses either. IF you have high blood pressure or diabetes, it seems easier to get approved. -

Rowdy is speechless..... -
Hang in there Rocko.. Luckily, I was really slammed at work during my preop diet. Tammy, how you doin? Pain and nauseau are pretty much gone. Feeling a little weak though this afternoon. GOing to try and work all day tomorrow. This is the first time I've sat in the house for 3 days since i was a fat kid on summer vacation  . Watched Al Gore's documentary on Global Warming and did my taxes...
-
thanks.. i'm feeling good, so i'm just going to stop taking them.

I have a quick question about Post-Op diet/medications. I'm now 3 days post-op, and i think all of this pain medicine and anti-nauseau medicine are starting to make me nauseaus...especially since i haven't eaten. How long did you guys continue to take this stuff? Just woked up and slept really well. Not feeling much pain at all, just really bloated. Was going to try not taking the meds today. Also, what was the first non-clear liquid you drank? I'm sippin on a slimfast. We're you able to drink coffee 3 days out?
-
that's awesome. I've always wanted to do that as well.
-
that's awesome. my wife is from michigan and that's all people do up there where she is from. You ski or board as well?
-
that's awesome bro. rippin it up!
-
Thanks Not so Big. just chilling at home for a few days. According to Dr. Phil, you gain about 1in in size for every 33pounds you lose.
-
what's up march bandsters! just got home from the hospital a few hours ago. the banding went well. i'm in a little discomfort, but no gas, hunger, soar throat, or any of that. oh yeah, peeing is interesting.. It's like my stomach muscles are warn out and i can't "push" it out. takes about 5 minutes to use the bathroom.. did you guy experience that?
-
Brothers of the Band, I have now officially joined you. Went in at 8Am, put on my little robe, they started an IV, next thing i know I wake up at 11AM with a sore stomach and the worst cotton mouth i've ever had. lol, apparently when I came out of anestesia (sp?) in the OR, I started going nutts yelling and hitting stuff, screaming, "stop holding my f'ing arms down". I don't remember that, but i hope i didnt say anything too nasty to the folks in the OR. overall, the worst part was when they were prepping me for surgery.. It was sort of like an alien obduction scene...freaked me out. Right now, i'm sipping a propel, taking plenty of meds, and the pain in my stomach sort of feels like a cramp you get when you're running. If i twist a certain way when i'm standing up or laying down, it really hurts like hell. taking deep breaths helps a lot. anyway, looking forward to my rowdy reptiles whipping some A$$ tonight in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

What Other Changes in Your Life are You Making?

hmm.. this is sort of different, but i can't wait to try snowboarding again. Last time I tried I was totally out of shape and was having a hard time getting up and down all day. That's what started this whole lap band journey for me. -
just realized i've lost 17 pounds in 2 weeks. been doing two regular slim fasts and eating one meal...pretty much whatever i want, but low carb. working out 4 days per week as well.. that's pretty crazy
-
dawnie.. i'm in surgery tomorrow morning. just took a percocet..seems to be helping:)
-
that's awesome man. congrats. My surgery is tomorrow morning
-
What's up Gatormark. You ready for the tourney? repeat!!!
-
Wow Rsbg _ not to be a downer, but it sounds like your Doc didn't really prepare you. I have a DVD, numerous pamphlets and papers, and have heard several times from my Dr and his staff what the eating schedule will be. 2 days post op of clear liquids, 2 weeks of liquids, then mushies, then solid food.
-
JB... I lift now about 4 days/week. My doctor said to give it about 2 weeks after Op.

Going to have a final meal tomorrow before the big surgery on Friday. I'm such a country boy....gonna have country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. I never even eat that kind of stuff...but my mom used to cook stuff like that when i was a kid. lost about 15 pounds so far, so what the hell....
