No swallowing pills for me, I have to take the capsules apart and the actual pill ones I'm suppose to crush and put in something else like sugar free jello or pudding.
  2. How are you all doing this weekend. I'm going out for a little breakfast and then will come home and start my bowel prep - 1 bottle magensium citrate and clear liquids for the rest of the weekend. After many weeks of alternating being terrified and scared to happy I think I have finally found peace with my choice.

    June 4Th Surgery Folks

I'm on Clear liquids and am drinking Isopure - has 40g of protien and counts for Water. 1 bottle is 20oz but I'm having a hard time getting it down. I pour it into those little cups from the hospital and sip. My Dr told me not to worry too much this first week because he pumped full of fluids -everything is so swollen in my body now, hands, feet, fingers, ankles. etc. Oh and I had to take my prilosec capsule with Jello this morning-opening up the capsule and mixed it in... that was nasty. Mina wasn't going to post until tomorrow! Praying that things are going well for her!

How are you doing on drinking your fluids? I'm using the small measuring cups from the hospital it takes about 3 sips from that over 15 minutes to get it down. Now I have to go get some jello to mis in my prilosec.

I got the Isopure at GNC and the Cytosport Whey Protein ready to drink at The Vitamin Shoppe. I was just sleeved on Monday and it's taking me about 1/2 hour to get 1oz down.

    June 4Th Surgery Folks

Faganberry - did you have Lymphoma? Or just a big vein to your spleen?
  9. karenb4729

    June 4Th Surgery Folks

Faganberry - I had a very large blood vessel going into the spleen and the Dr's instrument was not large enough to cut and cauterzie as the same time. The Dr made sure to have all the instruments prepared and in the end I have not needed a transfusion. Now this make have been partly due to the Lymphoma I had in 89 since the spleen is a lymphatic organ. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the only complication I have.

    Sleeved On June 4Th!

Funny - my Dr was Top Doctor in the Washington State magazine. I think I'm feeling a bit more pain than you are experiencing but I also lst 2 liters of blood during the surgery. Just got home today but have had a nasty headache all day.

    June 4Th Surgery Folks

I just got home today! I wasn't allowed to walk for the first 24 hours because I lost two liters of blood. The Dr said it may take me a little while to get my strength back. I feel bruised on the inside and also had a nasty headache this morning that just wouldn't go away. I just noticed on my zofran bottel that is says "may cause headaches". I did not eat anything in the hospital but ice chips, the broth would get way too cold and the jello was ok and I will probably eat it tomrrow so I can take my PPI. My Dr says not too worry the first week because he has me pumped so full of fluid that I probably won't ge dehydrated for days. My feet, ankles and fingers all look like little sausages.

$14000 For A Sleep Study!? Help!

Wow - my sleep study was 1400 and then the CPap was another 1700. Of course I hate the machine and while I try to sleep with it it always is off by the time morning rolls around. I do have to bring it to the hospital.

    Burning In My Throat?

Yep - that's acid reflux. I have been battleing it for a few years but am hoping the hernia repair that I'm having during surgery quiets it down, other wise I'm sure will be upping my dose of Omeprazole.

    Questions For Post-Op Sleevers

I know I'm having both and my surgeon usually waits until the following week to remove the drainage tube. I think the cath comes out the day after surgery.

    Pre Op

Wow - that's a lot of water!! I wish I could help you - my pre-op was only 30 days of low carb(under 30g) and then yesterday and today of clear liquids and bowel prep.

Not Sure I Can Do This

That's all part of the addiction!! I'm scheduled for tomorrow morning. My husband just finished cooking his dinner and I want to go in, rip the lid off the pot and grab a big huge spoon. However, that is also why I need the sleeve - it's all about the portion and the reminder that I can no longer eat enough to feed 3 people. This is also the reason I think many of us go through the emotional ups and downs because for a while afterwards you may feel deprived. its really about learning a new "normal". You can do this if you want to change where you are today. Think about it, if you don't go this route where will you be in 5 years? I know for me I would still be struggling with my weight and life is too short not to be all that I'm meant to be!

    Ugh!

I look at it this way - if I don't do the surgery where will I be? I know that I can lose weight but it will come back and I will gain more -then I'm not enjoying time with my family because I am so heavy. My surgery is tomorrow and I am pretty sure I will have days of regrets but as I told someone recently, if I don't lose another pound this is still great because pre surgery I have lost 40lbs and as long as I don't see those back, then surgery is a success. Its hard to learn new habits and ways of doing things and I think the biggest complication with this surgery is being prepared for exactly how hard it is! The sleeve doesn't magically get the weight off, it's all through diet and dedication to eating and being a healthier person.

    Quitting Smoking

check out quitnet.com I used this site to help me quit in 2004 and I have not smoked since then. The forums are like those on this site but the motivating factor that I had was a "gadget" that lists how long you have been smoke free, etc - here is mine : Time Smoke-Free: 2754 days, 12 hours, 41 minutes and 8 seconds Cigarettes NOT smoked: 82636 Lifetime Saved: 21 months, 1 day, 5 hours Money Saved: $18,589.50 It may sound silly but I would log on every day and see those days go by and it just helped me to keep my resolve in quiting. Also doing the same thing now with the losing weight. it also helped that I used the patch as well. Good luck!! Its hard to do!
  23. Well, I don't have 200lbs to lose but my Dr uses a 40. I'm not worried about the size of stomach I have because it's more about doing the post op diet and when you see the size differences its very very little.

    Protein

Georgia - when did you have your surgery? I have to start my protein that day I come home from the hospital and have purchased Isopure and Cytosport's Whey Isolate ready to drink. Both count as clear liquids and gets the protein in. I find I prefer the ready to drink.
  25. Wow - you are doing fantastic! I can't wait to be on the other side and past the initial pain of surgery.
