    Nectar Protein..

They are good, I have the cappuccino which is pretty decent. I recommend trying their sampler pack so you can try the different flavors. I haven't bought a tub because I would probably be tired of it before i could fnish the tub but I do get the 12 packs from Amazon.
  2. Wow - that was a great post! Congrats for getting through those first couple of days, they are the worst. Everyday seems to have its ups and downs but its all how you approach it. You are going to do great with your new sleeve!

    I Been Bad =(

I read on here not too long ago about someone who had to go to rehab because they had muscle wasting from not getting enough protein in. How much are you getting from your food? You risk from not getting enough will be losing your muscle and not your fat.
  4. I have been on omeprazole for a few years due to GERD - 20mg once a day. Since surgery I have needed to double that (after discussion with Doctor). I also switch between prilosec and zegerid which is also omeprazole but with some additional stuff in it. I'm not allowed to take swallow any pills, everything has to be crushed or opened. My prilosec is a capsule so I have to open it and put in in SF pudding. Anyway - some days the heartburn is very uncomfortable so I chew on tums which has the side benefit of getting in additional calcium.

    Nervous About Insurance Approval..help!

I started my process last October but only had 4 of 5 years with a BMI of 40+ so I had to wait until January when I went to my PCP and recorded the 5th year of BMI at 40.
  7. For immediate relief take a tums but I would call the Dr's office - you don't want to be miserable until July 3rd.

    3 Days Post-Op Drain Hole

I didn't really scrub it, more ran the soap over it and then warm water - I don't think anything got inside and it actually only took a day or so before the hole closed up.

    H Pylori

Yep, its a bacteria and one that need to clear up before doing the surgery. I think it's a pretty simple treatment.

    3 Days Post-Op Drain Hole

I got the drain out in the hospital and was sent home with gauze and a clear bandage to go over the gauze. I was instructed to clean and change the bandage daily - I washed it in the shower with water and johnson baby soap.

    My Experience After Surgery

I'm glad that found a pain medication that would work for you! Frankly, I would rather deal with pain than deal nausea - feel so bad for that women that was in recovery with you. Take your meds, take your time, and get lots of rest!

    Week 5

I will be 4 weeks out on Monday and have pretty much just been sticking with the food that works for me (Im on pureed). When I try something different it can lead to that horrible intestinal grumbling, usually within an hour and of course that leads to bad cramping in the bathroom. So, rather than try new foods I'm staying with my cottage cheese, yogurt and refried beans. Not much of a diet but it works and I figure slow and steady wins the race so no need to hurry through the food stages!
  13. I'm almost 2 weeks out from surgery. Today, I purchased liquid multipurpose vitamins because I didn't care for the chewable form I currently have. Guess I should have read the label more carefully because I'm guessing there must have been quite of bit of sugar in the liquid. No sooner did I take my dose that all of a sudden I got flushed all over, began hyperventilating, and suddenly became horrible nauseated and started to throw up (nothing came up). My heart was also racing. Scared the crap out of both me and my husband!! I'm guessing that this is dumping... something I don't want to repeat!

    So Thrilled!

Let me know how it goes with the tuna fish - I'm a little leery to try it.

    Nerves

Congratulations! Take it slow and steady - don't overdo it. Ice chips can be your best friend!

    I Need Some Advice

I couldn't do popsicles at all but ice chips in the hospital were my best friend. I'm not sure how old you are but I do think when you are older it just simply takes longer to recuperate from surgery than when you are younger. I set up a timing system for myself with my drinks - every 5 minutes I would take a sip, in the first week and a half those sips were very very small - now at almost 4 weeks those sips have turned into a good size swallow. I'm curious - did you have hernia repair too? It seems that people with hernia repair take a little longer to be able to have a decent swallow.
  17. Mine is similar - to the left side even in line with belly button. I think it may have something to do with internal stiches. I planned to ask my Doctor about it next week at my 1 month post op appt.

    Moving On To Phase 2?

I am right there with you! This is my week two on pureed and really the only things that sit well are yogurt, cottage cheese and sometime refried beans with a little sour cream. The yogurt is the best or goes down the smoothest.

    Ulcers

I suffered with those when I was undergoing chemo many years ago. There is a medicine you can take that will numb the spots so you can at least eat. I can't think of the name of it at the moment.
  20. I also have kept my surgery to myself. My husband, 2 of my kids, and 2 very close friends are the only ones that know that "truth". My co-workers think that I had my gall bladder out and a hernia repair (which actually was suppose to happen but when the Dr got in he didn't see a hernia). I started dieting back in January and in March went on a low carb diet recommended as pre-op by my surgeon and as a result lost almost 40lbs before surgery so pretty much everyone is used to my diet. After the surgery I was with my in-laws and they were asking about the surgery since I hadn't told them - I basically said that I had a problem with my stomach and then needed to remove a portion of it. That was the end of it - I'm more inclined to tell the truth to family but my co-workers, forget it - they don't need to know my personal business. You have to do what you feel most comfortable doing - I think this is very much an individual decision.

Made It Back To Work Today

How long were you off? I go back next week and am already expecting 100's of emails in my inbox.

    Can You Blend Anything?

I love pho!! I'm in the pureed stage and hadn't thought about puree the noodles but have thought about just getting the broth.
  23. I hate to bring up such a personal topic.... I had my surgery on June 4th. The weekend prior to my surgery I had to do a bowel prep with magnesium citrate which totally cleaned out my colon. However, since surgery I have not had a bowel movement. When I went to my Dr appt on Monday he said to stay off the narcotics and to try Milk of Magnesia. I have a lot of gas but no movement yet on anything remotely close to a BM. Anyone else in this situation?

    Stage 2

I'm another fan of the unjury chicken broth - if it weren't for this I'm not sure I would get all my protein in for the day.

    Pickles :)

LOL - still craving pickles huh... Wonder what they would taste like pureed.
