    Sleeping Aids - Ambien Okay?

I take Ambien as needed without problem. I don't sleep deep enough to get to a restorative sleep so it does help me.

    6/25/12 Sleevers?

I was sleeved 6/29 and have lost almost 20 lbs. My surgeon told me before surgery that my loss would be slower due to lower bmi. I get a little frustrated but I would whether be slowly going down instead of stuck or up. Good luck!
  3. I know right after surgery, 1st week, clear liquids without worry about protein. 2nd week full liquids including cream soups and protein shakes. Goal was 60 grams that week. I would call your NUT. Good luck!

3 Days Post Op, Need Protein.

My surgeon said not to worry about protein when on clear liquids. I didn't have to start keeping track of protein until I went on full liquid, second week. Good Luck

    Question Re: Stage 2 Foods

I wasn't able to eat tomato due to acid. I strained my soups and my favorite was cream of potato. My soups had to be low fat. Read your labels because some of the regular cream of soups had the same fat as 98% fat free chicken. So you may have more options than you realize. I tried butternut squash it was pretty good. Good luck!

    Medications Post-Op

I took my pills with me to pre op appointment with surgeon and had him tell me if any were a concern. All of mine I was able to take post op without altering them. I left the hospital off my blood pressure meds and my blood pressure is great. Good luck
  8. Thanks for sharing. I am 15 days post op and also experienced pain. I agree you have to be brave and keep reminding yourself you get better fast. I have realized from exploring the forums that each of us handle it different. Some people like me had higher pain but no problems getting fluids and proteins in. Others have little pain but struggle with fluids. I am glad we are open about our experiences because I think it helps each other relate and have support during this journey. Thanks again for sharing! Best wishes
  9. Please be patient with yourself. You just had major surgery. Everyone heals differently. I am 14 days post op and would HIGHLY recommend the products from Bariatric Choice. I use the Bariwise Fruit drinks and Protidiet fruit drinks they have 15 grams of protein per serving. They aren't thick they have the consistency of crystal light. If it wasn't for these I would be in trouble getting protein in. I live in Texas so it is either blazing hot or raining. I just try to walk around the house to get a little exercise. My doctor doesn't release you for the gym until 6 weeks out. I hope this helps and you get to feeling better.

    My Nut Cursed Me

Yesterday I went and had drain removed. I was averaging 70 grams of protein and my NUT said to back down to 60. So today they all taste terrible. Guess I will try them again tomorrow. Weird huh? Any suggestions? I'm on full liquid 11 days post op.

She said she didn't want to overwork my kidneys. I have had good luck with Bariwise and Nectar until today.

3 Weeks Out And Very Pleased -

OMG you are so funny. Thank God it doesn't hurt to laugh anymore. Yeah the drain sucks. Several times I had to talk myself down from freaking out and ripping it out. Thanks for sharing and the laugh!

    Fibromyalgia And Surgery

My surgeon spoke with my Rheumy. He wanted to make sure the autoimmune wasn't an issue with my organs. The hesitance you may feel from the surgeon may be stereotyping that Fibro gets sometimes. Don't be discouraged or take it personally people that don't walk your path may never understand. Best of luck!

    Fibromyalgia And Surgery

Had immediate leg swelling, increased pain, and the Mylar rash pretty bad but post surgery I haven't noticed it anymore. I will go back to Rheumy before restarting it. This was my first time to come off it since she started me on it almost a year ago. Have you been on it a while?

    Fibromyalgia And Surgery

Yes I did. I started weaning myself 2 weeks out and was completely off 1 week pre-op. I haven't restarted it yet.

    Fibromyalgia And Surgery

I also have Fibro with auto immune. I was on Plaquenil prior to surgery (6/29). I haven't noticed a "flare" but I do think that the pain is more for those of us with these conditions. I was not able to get up and walk the same day but made myself the next day so I could get out of the hospital. Everyday has gotten better and better. I think we all have our things we have to walk through with this journey. I had the pain but haven't had any problems getting my fluids and protein in. I am glad I had the surgery though I wouldn't want to be where I was last week again. I guess that was one of the hardest parts for me while in the hospital was I expected to be up and walking immediately but my body just didn't do that. Do you have a surgery date yet?
  22. I am 9 days post op and although I said I wouldn't get on the scale I did. AND of course no weight loss. I have gone from clear liquids (day 1-6) to full liquids until next weekend. I still have my drain which will be removed tomorrow. I feel I'm doing well I am up and around. I am walking several times a day and am almost off all pain meds except at night. I know about the swelling and I do still feel like my stomach looks swollen especially around the incision spots (7 including drain spot) which seems more than some others. I don't know why I am so upset because my doctor told me that I would lose slower BUT I am still bummed I guess I thought I would see something. Has anyone else's journey started like this? My starting weight was 219, day of surgery 211, today 210. Thanks for your help. Pam

    Can't Give Myself A Break

Thank you both for the encouragement. I am sticking to program and haven't had a problem with getting the liquids in or the protein. I was worried about what protein shakes I would be able to handle so I got some of the Bariwise and Protidiet from Bariatric Choice. They are like Crystal light but with protein. I also have been using the Nectar. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I forget what the inside of my body must look like and the toll the surgery has taken on it. Onward I go. Thanks again!!

    Pain

I think the pain of course varies by each person. I had my buyer's remorse in the thick of pain. My husband said my surgeon said it all went well but for me the pain and nausea kept me grounded. Hindsight I think the pain med caused the nausea. Every time I tried to get up I got sick. The day after my surgery they changed my pain med to oral instead of IV and I was a new woman. Got to go home a little while later. I have improved every day since. I just want to encourage any one who does have more pain to hang in there because it does get better fast. Best wishes!
  25. How far out from surgery are you and did you strain the soup? On full liquids this week which does include strained cream soups and wondered if this would work for a treat
