    Nutritionist

I'm really glad to hear this. I know some people eat whatever they want and lost the weight but I want to be healthy and lose the weight. I know everyone follows the best path for themselves and it's nice to find others on mine! Thanks guys!

    Nutritionist

Awesome!!! I'm glad to see someone else with a good nutritionist relationship. I think its such a big help!! Good luck with your surgery!!!
  5. I'm really curious to see how many people went, how many times and if they went after the operation. I went about 5 times, once a month to see mine before the surgery. BCBS had a rule about 6months but it stopped in January and I still chose to go. Working with her I concentrated first in what I was eating, not how much. We figured out my triggers (boredom), downfalls (not planning) and that I had to see food as fuel for my body and not a reward. After we did these steps then we worked in size. I felt really ready for the liquid duet and am ready now for all the stages and the rest if my life. I plan on following the 90/10 rule with food because that's what I feel I can manage and achieve success with. Today I had my first post op visit (I get my first fill in 2 weeks!!) And right after I met with my nutritionist. I love seeing her, she keeps ne accountable and is a tool for my goal. She helps me with menus and recipes too. For the mushies stage instead if regular mashed potatoes I am making mashed cauliflower potatoes which are soooo yummy and way better for you. Does anyone have a nutritionist they see/saw that is helping them? She sends our dayone group recipes, food and has a support group. It's helping me, how bout you guys?
  6. Banded 6/8 and lost 20 total with the liquid diet. Official weigh in in Friday.
  7. I've said it before and ill say it again, I can'tvwsit for skinny sec!! Higher energy, more flexible, I an soo excited to feel how i used to!!! I'm about to be .29 so I hear you!!
  8. So I was banded on June 8th, doctors and nurses said I did great was sitting up and walking pretty fast. I am really gassy inside and walking and gasx helps some but I still feel really gassy inside. My back is starting to hurt too but I can sleep on my side that the port is not on. I can walk and eating is fine. I've been monitoring portions and calories. I have water, lowfat no sugar smoothies, a little gatorade, broth, cream of chicken soup, popsicles and broth. I don't eat much and try to keep hydrated. With the liquid diet for 2 weeks and my post op, I've list 20lbs do there awesome!! Not for one second do I regret this and I am soooo happy to change my lifestyle. I look forward to meal planning, trying new recipes, exercising, skinny sex!! Clothes shopping!! Did anyone else's back hurt, in the middle? I'm trying to avoid pain meds now so I don't get constipated. Any advice would be appreciated? Also on the gas? Trying to get it out? My starting weight was 250 and I'm at 230 right now, Dr's appt Friday and meeting with nutritionist then too. I plan on seeing mine for the next few months to keep building healthy eating habits and keep me extra accountable. Hope everyone is doing well!!

    Newbie!!! Help Me! ;)

I think its helpful to go once or twice though, insurance requires one time at least. My experience so far is ok, 15lbs liquid diet, on day 2 if the band. The liquid diet taught me a lot. I also loved the nutritionust at dayone, she is amazing. Good luck!!!

Like others, this band really is a tool. You should look into your relationship with food otherwise you will get the lapband and possibly be unhappy and overeat and throw up. It's a ton of work but it will be harder if you have no self control. I really stress an overeaters group or therapy then look into lapband.

    Buyers Remorse?

I don't know how many of you had to meet with a nutritionist before hand but I did for 5 months and it really helped me food as fuel. If course food has instant gratification but that's not how it's supposed to be. The 2 week liquid diet made me see how I was just eating emotionally and didn't need to it or was just thirsty. My health and happiness are more important than instant gratification and a less healthy life. Just think of how good it feels to lose weight and do more. Food is fuel, not our friend to rely on. Good luck and maybe examine tour relationship with food with a therapist. I got banded yesterday and am excited for the future, 15lbs down, 90 to go.
