    Love To Walk

I have chronic pain in both hips, one has osteoarthritis and bursitis, the other has rheumatoid arthritis. I also had a torn ACL in my right knee, which is how I gained over 100 pounds when I could no longer exercise. It's been over 3 years since the torn ACL, and I am determined to get back into shape. I don't just want to lose weight, I want to be healthy and active. It's painful most days, but I really feel good too. I belong to the "Y", and on days that I'm in a lot of pain, I'll do Water aerobics instead.

Men: Telling "the Guys" About Your Surgery

I applaud you for taking the step and putting yourself out there. I work around a lot of men, and those types of comments are so common in conversation. Good luck to you, and I think they'll be happy to have you healthy and around for a long time, only to rag on you.

To Tell Or Not To Tell Your Significant Other

I was in the same situation as you. I told my boyfriend while I was completing the insurance requirements, and he became so difficult about the surgery, that I felt I couldn't deal with it anymore. We broke up a few weeks before the surgery. Because we don't live together, I was able to focus on the journey without having to worry about what he was feeling. This was about me getting healthy, not about his insecurities. We started dating again, but it hasn't been easy.

    Does Surgery Hurt?

My best advice is to not stay in the bed. Sit up in the chair as much as possible, so you don't have to go through the pain of sitting up to go to the restroom, that's when I had the most pain. Plus, sitting up helps with the gas dissipation and weakness. You can just jump up and go for a walk too.

    Advise Please!

Slimmom & Rockafam, I was sleeved 8/28 too, my weight on the DOS was 271 and I now weigh 249, so we're practically sleeve triplets. I stalled for 2 weeks and increased my Fluid intake and broke the stall. Let's motivate each other. I met my first goal of being under 250, my next one is to be in onederland by 2013! Are y'all exercising?

    Cottage Cheese And ?

I see a lot of posts about protein in cottage cheese, so I bought some yesterday. I've always had in in a dessert, so I thought I'd try it plain, nastiest stuff I've ever tasted. How can you guys eat that stuff? What are you putting in it to make it taste good? Fruit? I'm type 2, so I limit my fruit to one banana in my morning shake.

    Why No More Dr.kelly Threads?

My doctor doesn't use a drain and he trained at UT medical school. He does single incision gastric sleeve and robotic sleeves. Not everyone needs a drain, it's a case by case situation or should be. Some surgeons take the cookie-cut route, and do everything the same way for every patient, whether they need it or not.

    Cottage Cheese And ?

Would you use it as a dip for veggies, or just eat it as yogurt?
  14. I'm at my second job right now, and I am so sleepy. I worked last night, and I only got about 3 hours of sleep today. I'm not someone who will take something just because, but this is getting ridiculous. I work out, and I'm full of energy on my day job (Mon-Wed), but the switch from working days to nights, and back again is getting harder and harder. I thought I could just wait out until it passes, but I'm thinking about starting to take a sleep aid.
