Wow, you lost 33 pounds in a month? That's amazing! -
Others have been very fortunate. I had to call and e-mail mine all the time. Part of it is my need to do things myself, and not wait on others. The only thing I really needed them to do for me was the surgery. Be your own advocate, it'll save you a lot of time and frustration. Good Luck!

Someone from here turned me onto 3 TBSP cottage cheese and 1/4 of avocado with pepper. It tastes so good, I want to eat it for lunch and dinner too. -
That's an exciting NSV. Have fun!

Before And After
Ready4success replied to sexysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh wow! You guys look great! Keep up the good work! -
My surgeon checked during my surgery too. I also had single incision using the spider. I was discharged the morning after surgery. Some surgeons feel that it's difficult to see a leak with so much inflammation after manipulation and stapling. My surgeon does a leak test in his office at the 6 weeks post-op check, whether you have symptoms or not. I'm sure if they feel it's old school to do it the day after, there should be evidence based research showing that it's not a reliable test so soon after surgery. Anyone feel up to researching this topic?

One Bite Too Many
Ready4success replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was plagued by this same problem until about a month post-op. I just couldn't make myself realize that I was done, until it was too late. It gets better. -
If you have bad stuff in the house, get rid of it!!! This was my biggest problem pre-op, I was still thinking that I could resist temptation. Now, when my family brings home bad stuff, they hide it, lol. Works for me.

It must be nice to be fed for free at work, but I work in a hospital, and I feel sorry for the patients most of the time. -

Why Are We So Embarrassed?
Ready4success replied to MsVeDub's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've told everyone. I don't make a big deal out of it, and neither does anybody else. People have surgery everyday, I know this for fact, because I'm an OR nurse. :-) -

Need Advice From Post Op Sleevers
Ready4success replied to Lollyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 9 days out, I had to travel a little over 400 miles by car to attend nursing training. It was 10 hour training days, and I was on my feet for 6-8 hours per day for 3 days straight. I had paid the 4,000 non-refundable fee for the training long before I finished insurance requirements. Because of the surgeon's office screwing me around with a date, I had no choice. I won't lie, I felt lousy, but I drank a lot of carbs and full calorie Gatorade, and I was able to get through it. When I got back to the hotel every evening, I was knocked out until it was time to get up the next day. If it's new job orientation, and all you'll do is sit and listen, I think you'll be fine. Just make sure you're sipping the entire time, and go home and take naps everyday. Also, know in advance, the nearest hospital with a bariatric program, just in case you have complications. Good Luck!
