Burning Pain Under My Shoulder Blade.

Most surgeons order a gallbladder ultrasound to see if there are gallstones before surgery. If gallstones are present, even if the patient is asymptomatic, insurance will pay for both surgeries to be done at one time. Gallbladder problems are probable after large amounts of weightloss, but not absolute, so insurance doesn't cover prophylactic removal. They just wait until you have an attack, then they have to pay for the ER visit, the gallbladder surgery, and the recovery. Really smart, huh?

    Urine Dark And Not Thirsty

I mix 1/2 G2 with 1/2 water in the water bottles. It's the only way I can get all my fluids in. For some reason, plain water makes my stomach hurt. The G2 has 7 carbs/sugars per serving, but I always stay under 30 carbs a day, so it doesn't affect ketosis and weightloss. Also, if you workout a lot, the electrolytes in G2 will replenish what you sweat out. Give it a try!

    9-Weeks Post-Op Update!

OMG! That's crazy weighloss! Way to go, that is really amazing. I'm really glad to hear about the fatty liver disease, I was told the same thing. Great job, dude!
  4. Start weight: 282 Surgery Weight of 271 Weight today: 241 What you eating and how much daily: breakfast: 1/4 avocado w/ 1/2 cup CC (fave) lunch: soft chicken, hummus, broccoli snack: Premier Protein shake, 1/2 banana, 2 TB PB2 (snack before gym-may have it for Breakfast if working out in am) dinner: usually more soft chicken, turkey meatballs (3), or turkey burger (no bun), sometimes eggs and cheese Portions: I rarely finish my meals in one sitting Daily work out: 1 hr cardio 5x/week, just got cleared to start weights this week How hungery are you? :I am hungry every 3 hours, but getting all my fluids in helps a lot. On days I don't drink enough, I'm even hungrier. How you feel physically: I am in much better shape, but I still suffer from joint pain. I can't wait until I lose enough for that to go away. How you feel emotionally: Sometimes irritable and snappy. In my defense, I work 2 jobs (65 hours a week), and I never get enough rest, so it's not just the sleeve. Are you glad you chose the sleeve?: Absolutely! All the reservations that I had before are gone. I still worry about how well I'll do with maintenance. Anything extra to say?: I am off one medication, and will soon be off the rest. This journey has been well worth it, and I love my sleeve!
  5. If I had known that I would be 282 at the age of 36, with diabetes and hypertension, I probably would have done something drastic in my 20s just to stop the progression of my poor health. If she is a yo-yo dieter, and has a family history of co-morbidities, why not? Did everybody want her to have a BMI over 40, with a few co-morbidities added in? I believe she had a legitimate question, regardless of her weight at the beginning.

    Omg I'm In Tomorrow

No worries. You'll do fine. As soon as you can after surgery, get up out of the bed and move a round, it'll help with gas dissipation. Of course, always tell your nurse when you want to get out of bed, so he/she can keep you safe, especially the first time with anesthesia still on board. :-)
  9. I think if you do the best that you can to stay on track until it's time to turn in your paperwork, you'll be fine. If you can drink 2 protein shakes a day, and a small carb reduced dinner, you can lose another 10 pounds before the end of the month. Also, start thinking about new coping mechanisms for after surgery. You'll need to have them in place to be as successful as you can be after you're sleeved. Good luck, you can do it! Give it all you've got!

    Droopy Inner Thighs.... :-(

Good idea. I purposely go to the gym for 5pm, so I can watch my favorite show from 5-6, and it goes by so fast. I increase the resistance and incline during the commercials, and try to go as fast as I can, then go back down to the normal resistance and incline when my show comes back on. Works pretty good for me.

Pms? I Could Eat An Entire Store Today!

Speaking of bad habits, I woke up at 10:30 last night and went straight to the refrigerator. Luckily, I don't have bad stuff in the house right now, otherwise it could've been bad. I grabbed 2 pieces of Gouda cheese this time. I only do this type of stuff when I'm overly stressed. I go from working a night job on weekends, back to a day job on Monday morning, so Sunday is my only day off. Waking up in the middle of the night and raiding the refrigerator, while still half asleep is something I have battled for years. It's scary.

    Woohoo!

Wow! It must feel so good to be closer to your goal, rather than being farther. I can't wait until I get over that halfway point. You're doing amazing.

    Exercise Goal For The Week

I slacked off so much on exercising last week because of TOM, but my surgeon cleared me to do anything I want, so I have to hit the gym hard this week. I plan to do an hour of cardio 5x this week, and 3 days of resistance training. I hope I stick to my goal.

Congratulations! Amazing progress. When were you sleeved and at what weight? What's your goal? Keep up the good work!

    Strange Odor

My boyfriend just told me that I have a "hospital smell" down there now. I'm a nurse, so I don't even want to think about what type of "hospital smell" it is. I'm almost 7 weeks out, and we've only had sex twice since surgery (we both work a lot and live an hour away from each other). I've always showered before sex and use B&BW scents, and he's never mentioned anything about a smell until after I had surgery. He says he doesn't start to smell it until after he gets things "going" in there. Has anyone else's partner mentioned a difference during sex?

    Emotional Eating

I'm an emotional eater too, but I plan all my meals in advance. If I don't, I end up going through a drive-thru and getting something I don't need. The fact that you still have to make the right decisions post-sleeve is hard, but if you plan in advance, it's not that bad. When I'm stressed or tired, I may eat a lot, but it was stuff that I was planning to eat anyway, so the bingeing is not that unhealthy. You may not feel so well, afterwards, but the guilt of messing up is not that bad. I overrate on my calories yesterday, but I messed up with Gouda cheese, broccoli, and hummus. Big change from my double whopper and fries days.

    Food Diary/log

I started using My Fitness Pal. It really holds me accountable. It a little time consuming at first, but only until you get your foods loaded into the diary. There is a large online database for any food/restaurant imaginable. If you eat a lot of the same stuff over and over again, it'll be saved, so you won't spend a lot of time on it the next time you eat that same food. You can add friends, and what they're eating and how much they're exercising too. It also logs weightloss. I really like it.
