Sleep Study Requirement?
Ready4success replied to Bufflehead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a sleep study done, but it was done with a machine the company mailed me. I stayed hooked up to it for a few hours each day for 3 days, then I mailed it back to them. I tested negative, and my copay was $13 bucks for it. -

Pre-Surgery Weight Loss Without A Liquid Diet
Ready4success replied to Half~of~Bri's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a date yet, but I got inspired by everybody and started a high protein/ low carb diet. My biggest struggle has been eliminating sodas from my diet (I was a heavy Dr. Pepper drinker). I'm so not looking forward to the liquid pre-op diet. -
Am I The Only One...?
Ready4success replied to BentleyJade's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ironically, I struggled (and am still struggling) with the decision to have the surgery. Telling people I'm having it (still don't know if I'm going to through with it) was the easiest thing to do. -
Single Incision Vsg
Ready4success replied to chicagochic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to have single incision surgery too. Glad to know it makes a difference in recovery since I'll have limited time off from work. If you don't mind my asking, "Where was your pain? Was it sharp or more like soreness?" Thanks! -

Just Got My Surgery Date!
Ready4success replied to traceylynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! I have Cigna too and I'm hoping to be able to stop the weight loss supervision after 3 months under the new policy. I could actually have surgery this summer if they allow it. Enough about me, congrats again. -
Almost Approved!

Pcp Letter Of Medical Necessity
Ready4success posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everybody, I was wondering if anyone can tell me what needs to be in the PCP letter for insurance purposes. I want to make sure it's appropriate for approval the first go round. Also, my PCP has some reservations about the sleeve, but not the band. She keeps trying to talk me into the band, so I've just started mentioning that I'm planning to forward with weight loss surgery, and not mention what type specifically. Can the letter say just weight loss surgery, or does it have to say what type of surgery specifically? -
This Is Me Ranting. Why Did You Have Surgery?
Ready4success replied to JAMIEINGOLD's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 40 pounds too many times to count, I've lost over 100 pounds twice in my 36 years, and gained every pound back plus some every time. I obviously can't lose 100 pounds a few more times as I get older. Also, the 100+ weight gain this time bought me a diagnosis of both hypertension and diabetes. The time to "do it myself" has come and gone. I need this surgery just like the person that can't lose 2 pounds. -

Hello everybody, I just wanted to introduce myself and let everyone know that you are doing an amazing job on this forum. Everyone is so positive, which is so refreshing. With that said, I'm just beginning the process of meeting the requirements for insurance, so I'll be here reading and enjoying this forum for many months before I get close to a surgery date. Just wanted to say thanks for all the info!

Protein Shakes The Best, The Good, The Okay, And The Don't Do It List
Ready4success replied to ChristyLove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do the Atkins Advantage shakes meet the requirements? I can guzzle those things down. I can almost convince myself that they're chocolate milk, if I add a lot of ice. -
African American Sleevers & Hair Loss
Ready4success replied to Almostthere34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She eventually got braids, but it was long after the hair loss stopped. We work in the OR, so we cover our hair at work. On the weekends, she just dealt with it. -
Super Saturday Weigh In
Ready4success replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it's only because my body is so shocked that I'm dieting. I bet the fat cells that have been vacationing on my body for a few years are starting to worry, lol. -
Have U Ever Forgot To Sip & Took A Gulp?
Ready4success replied to labubakari's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a subject I've been thinking about too, mainly because I only get 30 min. for lunch at work and it's hard to drink anything in between (OR nurse). I'm worried about becoming dehydrated, so I was wondering how long before I could drink faster? It'll take the entire 30 min. just to chew the food, nevermind taking sips of water AFTER eating. -
Has Anyone Here Had Dr.yu As Their Surgeon?
Ready4success replied to SexiiLexi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the place, lol! I've had two laparoscopic surgeries and went back to work in two weeks (I'm a nurse), but everyone keeps saying this surgery is like no other, so I'm afraid. I'm sure we'll both be fine, it's just the fear of the unknown. Let me know if you need anything, I'll be glad to help.
