Cigna Insurance Filed...how Long Will The Verdict Take? (Is Age A Factor?)
Ready4success replied to Groovinchikin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My paperwork was sent on Tuesday of last week, accepted by Cigna on Wednesday. I called this morning to see if a decision had been made and was told the nurse is still reviewing it. They have 5 days to review it before making a decision. Apparently, the nurse needs ALL 5 days, because tomorrow makes the 5th day. Nurses, such slow pokes. (I'm a nurse, lol) :-) -

I think this statement says it all. Make an influence on the one person that can still benefit, your son. Your husband went from his momma's house to yours (even though he had his own place, it belonged to his mother), your step-daughter went from her mom's house to her grandma's house, now the grandson is being raised by the grandma. There is a pattern that was in place long before you came into the picture. Your MIL is an enabler. Don't become one too. Take care of your son, and mold him into an independent and responsible person. My concern is that he will be influenced by your husband and think that is how a man handles responsibility, by passing it on to his momma. Don't worry about the 21year old, she's grown, and don't worry about the grandson, because great grandma (the enabler) will make sure he's well taken care of, like she did with your husband before you came along. I think you can have a decent relationship with your step-daughter and your grandson, but just accept it as it is. -
Congrats...........and Happy Birthday! What a great gift!

I would recommend a hotel stay, maybe 1/2 way between the hospital and your home, because I had robotic surgery in May, and that 40min ride home was hell. It's going to hurt either way, but maybe breaking up the ride into two days may help. Also, consider getting an abdominal binder to reduce bouncing pain from bumps in the road. Good Luck!

I almost feel like my eating has been out of control. I find myself eating and doing things that are just crazy. Could it be that my food addiction is evolving since my mind knows that I'm about to chop off 80% of my stomach?

Sorry, just read your comment, after I finished my rant. I truly believe that all things are possible through Christ Jesus. My faith has helped me through so many things in life, including single parenthood, being the parent of a "special needs" child, and even divorce. Although I may not acknowledge my faith with every breath that I take, I know that without God's help, or what I seem to be His help, I struggle. Whether I'm at work or at home, I know that I'm not doing it alone, if I were, I never would've made it. As far as my food addiction, it never occurred to me to pray for deliverance from it. Maybe, it's because I'm not as debilitated by it, or feel that my health is not so bad, that I NEED to ask for His help with it. When I think about people dying with cancer, my being fat and diabetic somehow doesn't seem like all that big of a deal. I have started asking for His help with this surgery, because I feel the uncertainty and fear trying to take over, before I even have the surgery.

I was raised in the Catholic church, including Catholic school. My parents were only doing what their parents did, but I never felt comfortable with how much praise and reverence was given to priests, bishops, and especially the Pope. I actually have one priest, one Brother, and a bishop in my family. I'm afraid to speak frankly about this subject, partial fear of being struck down by my family and God alike, but I always felt that just because you "decided" to enter the priesthood doesn't mean your intentions are good, and that goes for any ministry. Because of this, I have NEVER allowed my daughter to spend any amount of time alone with clergy. You can say what you want, but I was given my daughter to love and protect her, even if that means going to hell for it. I love God, but no man on earth is God, therefore, I always have one eye open during prayer. Having said that, I will take a kind, caring spiritual person anyday, or a mean, manipulative religious fanatic.

Sorry to hear you're feeling so sick. Is your pain still the same as it was right out of surgery? Sometimes, it's the IV pain meds that cause nausea. Do you think you can try going longer without it, like if it's ordered every 4 hours, try going until 6 hrs before asking? If you can't, then you can't, but the sooner you're able to move around, the better you'll start to feel. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs -

You asked for it. I'm pissed off today because I was told my case was submitted to insurance last week, to find out that it hasn't left the coordinator's desk. No one wants to hear a whiney baby, though. Sorry. -

Wow, what an amazing story. I'm glad to hear your family is doing well, and good luck on your journey to becoming healthier. -
Have you heard back from Cigna? How long has it been since submission?
-
I have Cigna OAP, but I'm having the hardest time getting the bariatric's office to submit my paperwork. I guess I'll have to double and triple check with Cigna too. I'm glad you got it corrected and it didn't change your date. I would've been pissed if I had done the pre-op diet for nothing.

Unbelievable!
Ready4success replied to Ready4success's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got off of the phone with both offices, and everything was supposedly straightened. I was given the same assurance that I received last Tuesday, that it would be submitted today. We'll see. @Pookey, I asked if I could be e-mailed all the documents that would be sent, the insurance co-ordinator said it's too time consuming to e-mail every patient, but that I could pick up a copy in person. It takes longer to copy something, so how is that less time consuming? She's angry with me, and I really don't care. I've been really nice about the whole thing, considering that I completed all my requirements on June 24th. Almost an entire month has gone by. -
For the last week, I've thought I was waiting for approval from Cigna, only to find out today that it hasn't even been submitted. My PCP office says that they faxed over everything week before last, the bariatric office says they never got it, but I called last Tuesday, just to be sure, and they said they had everything and would submit by the end of the day. Un-freaking believable, bunch of freakinh liars. I believe my PCP's office, they are true most helpful, professional people. Plus, why would you lie to me last week, then tell me today, you couldn't submit because the PCP office hasn't sent over the info. Pissed.

I'd Like To Hear What You Have To Say! (Questions)
Ready4success replied to lovealways's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm still going through the insurance process. I started this journey in April and I'm waiting for Cigna to approve me. Although I have enough money in my savings to be a self-pay, I know my insurance covers it, so I'll wait. I didn't get this big in 5 months, so waiting 5 months for surgery is no biggie. If anything changes, I'll be a self-pay with my current surgeon. -
I'm an OR nurse, so I've watched in person plenty of times. I think it's a good idea to see what you're going to experience, but if you're one of those people who feels "ignorance is bliss", then don't. I'm one of those people who has to look when someone is drawing my blood, starting an IV, or giving me a shot, but that's just me. I have to know.
-
My psych eval was really easy going. They ask about previous attempts at weightloss, do you exercise, attempts at changing your life style, etc. Probably the most importat thing to say is that you understand that this surgery is a "tool" to help you lose weight. Good Luck!

Roll Call Nurses Being Sleeved ...........
Ready4success replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will be getting a hernia repair along with my sleeve too. That is what scares me the most. -
No, not yet. I was told that my file is complete, and it is being reviewed. I'm so disappointed because I couldn't meet the deadline for work and I'll have to move the surgery back. They'll probably take the entire 30 days, but I'm expecting approval. I'm 36, with a 41 BMI along with diabetes and high blood pressure. I guess I'll be either a September or October sleever. Sucks.
