    Lsd Protein Shake Ideas?

I used the Premier Protein drinks from Sam's or costco. They're cheap, and taste pretty decent for a Protein Shake. Also, Chike has some pretty good flavors. You can order samples online at www.mybariatricpantry.com. Good Luck!

    Bat Wings From He££

One of the ladies at my job is really self-conscious about her arms, so she wears 3/4 sleeves under her scrubs every day. It helps that we work in th OR, and it's cold. It's something to consider when cooler months come, then you can layer up with matching 3/4 sleeves under your tops. It'll be cute. Good Luck!

    Disgusted By Others Eating

In all honesty, if I had been lucky enough to have a super metabolism and could eat anything I wanted, and gain nothing, I'd still be eating just like them. I LOVE the taste of food...and Dr. Pepper (had to throw that in there). It's funny how we look at those that are thin, and can put down a lot of food, and we just laugh it off. Why aren't we disgusted when we see THEM with 10 slices of pizza on their plate? I don't regret not being to able to eat large amounts anymore, I'm just resigned to the fact that I can't eat like that and not be sick. I ran with the best of them, though.

    Pulmonary Wouldn't Clear Me- Upset!

I didn't have to do a pulmonology consult, but I don't understand what is to be gained by using the CPAP for another month, when weight loss is needed to decrease OSA. It almost seems like she's delaying your recovery from OSA, by making you wait another month. If there's a problem with your airway, the anesthesiologist will be the first one to tell you. Did she say what the expectation is after using the CPAP for another month? What is she measuring to deem it therapeutic to wait another month? I know I ask a lot if questions, but before I fork over more cash, I want to know what goal she's looking to meet in a month?

Today Is My 6Th Month Weight In.

Cigna required progress notes from my visits, which had height/weight, b/p, and temp for each visit. If you had to submit progress notes (office notes), then it'll be on there.

    New Job

I made my two week vacation to Disney World a condition of pre-employment, so I don't think you'll have a problem if you tell them you're having surgery or tell them you have a vacation that has been planned and paid for.

    Getting Too Much Protein?

My NUT said our kidneys aren't able to keep up with filtering if you eat more than 100 grams of protein per day, so it starts spilling over into your urine (proteinuria). She said there is no added benefit of going over 100, only damage to your kidneys. If you don't mind me asking, why are you still drinking Protein shakes if you're getting in that much with food?
  8. I'm sorry you've had complications and I hope you feel better soon.

    Plantar Fascitis

I'm a surgery nurse too, both scrub and circulate. I developed PF and tried Z-coil too, based on a recommendation from a fellow co-worker with PF. I spent all that money on them, but soon figured out that I wasn't coordinated enough to wear them for work. After I nearly bust my butt a few times, the podiatrist said the risk was greater that I would break an ankle while trying to treat the PF. He didn't endorse Z-coils anyway, though. Too bad I was such a klutz, I felt like they were working.

I Need To Hear Sucsessful Stories....

I had an easy time of it, other than the recovery nurses giving me too much pain medication (I'm a minimalist), and I didn't want any narcotics after surgery. All the narcotics caused severe nausea and vomiting the entire first day, but other than that, it was fine. Tylenol was fine for pain management, from that day on. I was discharged the next day. I showered, gathered my stuff, and even rolled my own cart out of the hospital. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the lethargy. Although, I saw a lot of postings about it, I figured I was stronger than the people on here, lol.

    How Much You've Lost

I always reference starting weight and day of surgery weight.

    I Need Your Input Please!

We're a lot alike, same age and bmi before surgery, but with co-morbidities. For me, being diabetic and having high blood pressure were the biggest reasons. I also have hip, back, and knee pain. It would hurt to stand a long time, and walking tired me out so much. I'm not a sedentary person either, but the extra weight takes a toll. I think it's a good idea to pursue this BEFORE you get sick. Good Luck!

    Diabetic Sleevers

You're much better controlled than I was. At best, I was 7.2 on Metformin alone, that's why I wanted the surgery. I didn't want to add more, and I didn't want insulin.

    Diabetic Sleevers

I was diagnosed in April 2010, and was on Metformin 1,000mg BID. My blood sugars ran 140s-150s, and they were about to add another med. I was sleeved 8/28, and now I run 120-130s. It's not normal yet, but I've lost almost 30 pounds, so my doctor says she expects it to be normal within the next month. I was told it takes longer if you've been diagnosed longer, and if you're on several meds for control, which makes sense.

    Houston Sleevers!

I live in Cypress, and was sleeved 8/28 by Dr. Yu. Down a total of 27 pounds. A meet-up sounds great!
  16. I started my pre-op diet at 282 on 8/14. I was sleeved on 8/28, weighed 271 the morning of surgery. I had my 2 week post-op check today, and I'm 255. A loss of 27 pounds since starting the pre-op diet, with 16 pounds loss since surgery two weeks ago. I'm good with this :-).

    I Know I Shouldn't Complain But...

Sorry, just read this. I go see my doctor today, so I get cleared for soft foods...but I have to meet with the nutritionist in the morning before I can start. I'm like really? Give me something to eat, already! My mouth waters constantly, lol.

    Opportunity Cost

I stayed at my job just to have surgery. I became a nurse practitioner (no WLS coverage) and I'm still working weekends as an OR nurse, because their insurance does cover it. Sure, I hated to do it, but I had to do what I had to do. I'm 2 weeks post-op, and it is so worth it.

Wls Is Taking The Easy Way Out

Our unit secretary asked me if I thought having surgery was the easy way out, and honestly, I don't care if it is the easy way out, because the hard way out is in a coffin. No thanks, I'll take easy any day.
  21. I copied from Skinnypants' August sleevers list: JLOR, Red597, randgalt, sarahmoni, smvemt78 ,nikkirew, slojo, evelynvsg, Bethany Who started their pre-op diet today? I've been awake for 4 hours, and all I've had is a SF popsicle. Not doing good. How is everyone else doing?
