Who Can Guess My Weight Loss? Need Your Help!
Ready4success replied to Raven21's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've been in that situation before, and I agree if you start now with substituting 2 meals with protein shakes, and then a low carb meal for dinner, you can lose at least 40 pounds by surgery. The key is to keep your body in ketosis and the weight will melt off. Depending on your weight now, it may be possible to lose 100 pounds in 3 months, but that's usually not the norm. By starting early, you'll have a spectacular looking liver for surgery and that 100 pound loss for Mexico. -

Looking good! I see we share the same drink of choice. I would kill for an ice cold Dr. Pepper, right now. Not the diet stuff either, a man after my heart. Great job! -

I Spiced Up My Protein Shake!
Ready4success replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only had one day where I didn't throw up at all. My puréed are more like full liquids, because I won't keep it down without putting a lot of skim milk. Yogurt and pudding are the only things that go down without trouble. I'm starting to get a little discouraged because I'll be a month post-op on Tuesday. -

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
Ready4success replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only able to keep puréed foods thinned with Skim milk down. Everything comes back up. I went to work last night, had refried beans and puréed turkey. It all came back up, and I was hungry later because it was a 16 hour shift. I'll be 4 weeks post-op on Tuesday, and I keep waiting for things to loosen up. My NUT said one day, it'll just magically stay down. -
What Exactly Do These Coordinators Do?
Ready4success replied to Heyher's topic in Insurance & Financing
I knew that my out of pocket maximum for the year was 1k, and doctor's visits prior to that were chopping away at amount. It happens I had to have surgery for an unrelated problem, and had to pay bills for that, and that also chipped away at the out of pocket maximum. By the time it was all said and done, I had met my out of pocket maximum. I called my insurance and found out that my co-pay for inpatient hospitalization was $100, so that's what I planned for. If you know what your out of pocket maximum is, see how close you've come to meeting it, then you know it won't be more than that, unless you have to do something that is not covered by insurance at all. For anything not covered, I used my flexible spending account. -
I've shared this story before, I think. We went to Disney World and Universal Studios for Christmas and New Year's last year. I avoided many rides, but I really wanted to ride Harry Potter. I went up to the seat tester, thank God they started providing these, instead of making people wait in long lines, only to find out that they don't fit. Anyway, I get in the tester, and it doesn't clear. Two well-meaning teenage boys decide to come "help", by pushing and pushing, no luck. A mom and her 3 toddlers decides that they're not doing it right, so she tries to put all of her 90 lb body into making the bar go down, no luck. Now, here comes her husband, concerned that she was going to hurt herself, starts to push really hard, and it started hurting, but still wasn't clearing. I was just ready to get up, but they were so insistent they could get me on the ride. I tried to explain that it was okay, my daughter still had someone to ride with, she's special needs and usually only gets on a ride with me. After several people tried with no luck, and still not wanting to let me up, a worker walks by and says to just sit in the outside spot, and I'll be fine. By that point, I had 8 people in front of me trying to "help". I just laughed it off, but my eyes were watering, partly from the embarrassment and the other part from the pain of them squishing my innards to get the bar down, but boy was it worth it. I love that ride.

Waking Up W Headaches
Ready4success replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 8/28, and I've been having them for about a week now. They're a little uncomfortable, but not to the point of debilitating. They changed my b/p meds after surgery, so I thought maybe that was the reason, but it's been within a normal range. Are you sleeping okay? I had insomnia the first 2 weeks. -

I'm a Kroger shopper too. I like a lot of their brands, especially the CarbMaster yogurts.

My surgeon took me off of my meds the day after surgery, and told me that I would be diet controlled from here on out. I'm still not normal, but nowhere near where I was pre-op. I'm going to try it with the sf jelly. That sounds interesting. Thanks!

Call Cigna and talk with a rep about what the requirements state on the website. Do you know which Cigna you have? It wouldn't happen to be Open Access Plus, would it? I have the most knowledge about that plan. A denial doesn't mean it's impossible. Good Luck.

Type 1 Diabetics And Sleeve
Ready4success replied to st2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a type 1 named Sweet Susie. She posts alot in the evenings. Hopefully, she'll see this post and answer. I'm type 2, so I don't know know if there is any difference, but I was able to stop my meds the day after surgery. My sugars aren't normal yet (120s), but my surgeon said I wouldn't need to take it anymore. Good Luck, I hope you get a response. -

So was mine. I guess they didn't like the comment about the rant about the use of an ellipsis. -

I was talking about the comments made about posters here on this site (i.e. loosing vs losing). Lately, one of the administrators has had to re-post the rules about forum use.
