I had my band out May 8th because of many reasons. The sleeve is everything I had hoped the band would have been but it wasn't. I never lost a lot of weight with the band. The sleeve causes me no issues. Beyond happy I did it!

Aug. 21st Surgery Date and I am starting to panic
teshadb replied to Rainbow1958's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nerves are normal. It's the unknown of what is going to happen. I ended up staying in the hospital for 8 days it should have been 3. I was fighting an infection from somewhere and ended up havin a second surgery while i was inpt to have drains put in and check for leaks. And even though that happened I would do it all again. No I didn't feel that way at the time. I cried and said what the F*** did I do to myself. I felt tired and weak to the point where I couldn't even get to the fridge to get a drink. I was not the norm for a recovery as far as the hospital goes. But at 3 weeks to 4 weeks out I felt better and now 8 weeks out I am basically back to normal energy and all! Best thing I ever did. The fear is normal you are doing something traumatic to your body that you can't take back. Nothing with having is easy. You will go through all sorts of emotional days and things happen to your body that they don't always prepare you for but I promise it's all worth. One day you will all of a sudden turn the corner and all the pain an waiting will be a distant memory. I have for the first time control. Control over what I put in my mouth and I feel good about it. Control over my hunger. It's freeing. -
Today marks 8 weeks post op for me. My goal was to lose 30 lbs in 2 months and I did 1 better (literally haha). I have lost 31 lbs in 2 months. It feels amazing! Back in 2004 I tried so hard to lose weight it took me a year to lose 40lbs, so I'm completely happy with the 31 in 2 months. It's freeing.

When Does Fatigue & Weakness Go Away?
teshadb replied to BDM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is going through a huge change and shock. Give it time, I started having energy around 4 weeks but 6 weeks it got even better when I could go on solid food. -
The biggest misconception with Bariatric surgery for people who are against it or never had it. Or don't struggle with their weight is they think you are taking the easy way out. I have to beg to differ. It's not easy AT ALL! rewarding, yes. You still have to make good decisions when it comes to food, you have to change old eating habits. Those choices are not easy either way when you love food. I will say the surgery has given more control over it than I have ever had. It's a true blessing and am beyond happy that I did it! I had the lap band first back in 09 and that did nothing for me like what the sleeve has done. Good luck to you and remember to be patient with your body and new stomach when you are healing. Just when you think you will never feel normal again all of a sudden you turn a corner and the pain and fatigue are a distant memory :-)

June 16th Surgery - 5 Days Post-op
teshadb replied to flowerpower11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will not get it in right away. Getting all the fluid and protein takes time. My dr wasn't concerned about the protein for about 2 weeks after surgery. As long as I kept trying to stay hydrated I was doing good. There were days all I could do was the shakes. It takes time. -
Knowing what you know now.......
teshadb replied to mochax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely don't stock up too much because I had a nose like a pregnant person right after surgery and everything I thought would be good I hated cuz of the smell! I couldn't stand sugar free things after surgery! I had water, soup, cottage cheese, tuna, potatos, added unflavored protein powder to things that didn't have much cuz I can't stand puréed meat. Get 1% or skim milk for your shakes cuz milk made me gassy at first. And yes never trust a fart!!! I had severe diarrhea for quite awhile after surgery. During the hospital stay I recommend bringing feminine wipes in case this happens because you will get raw from going so much. Or you might be the complete opposite. Bring Chapstick. Sleep all you can. I recommend chewable vitamins . My dr did not want me to even care too much about protein or the vitamins until my follow up appt 2 weeks later. Hydration and rest was the most important thing. I'm 7 weeks out now almost 8 and most of my energy is back. I do recommend cleaning all you can right before. Don't get frustrated if you are not reaching the protein and fluid goals right away. That takes time. Do what you can and try to stay hydrated. I still struggle with getting in all the fluids. Be patient with your body and new stomach. Just when you think you are killing yourself from lack of calories and fluid and you feel so weak you can't even make it to the fridge to get a drink, you will one day in a few weeks start feeling more normal. Day by day drink more. Bowels get back to normal. It's rough the first month but hang in there around six weeks I felt almost completely normal again. It's the best thing I ever did for myself!!! -

Was in a room by1130. Was pretty out of it all day from anesthesia. Pain was rough for the first 6 hrs but the worst was when I had to get up and pee. It was even the incisions that's bothered me it's the gas. Stuck right around my ribs so taking deep breaths hurt. I have circulation stockings on. I had no drain or foley cath thank god!!!!! Once I got up and walked 2 laps then later another 2 laps I was feeling much better. It helped the gas move away from my chest and ribs. I highly recommend the whole Chapstick idea. Your mouth is severely dry but I have a swab I am using constantly. I was so afraid and nervous this morning but now the waiting is over and I am happy. I take my first drink tomorrow which I'm nervous about. I hope it doesn't hurt too bad. I just got done doing for more laps probably the last for the night. I thought they didn't make you walk the first day but I guess I was wrong and I'm glad I am anyway it makes you feel better. I will update you all tomorrow on how the drinking goes.

I'm feeling good. Just a little weak at times. Struggling to get fluids in still and finding puréed things that I like but day by day it gets better.
-
I'd anyone have scrambled eggs in the puréed phase???? How did it go if you did?
-
. Did you eventually eat a whole egg??
