Saliva Causing Fullness

This happens to me as well and I generally attribute it to eating too fast. Or not chewing well. It is better than vomiting in my opinion. -
Too Big For Surgery?
Percepied430 replied to Beanzilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree I initially was looking ot get a RNY but my doctor said at my size my liver may be too big and he suggested the sleeve and I couldn't be happier! -
I was sleeved 7 weeks ago and I tolerate pasta ok. Of course we are talking very small amounts, but one thing my nutrionist suggested was Quinoa pasta. It has protein and to be honest I prefer it to any whole wheat, tofu or any other type of pasta substitute I have tried you can get it at most health stores, or Publix (here in the South East) maybe target?? or even Wal-Wart maybe.

Too Big For Surgery?
Percepied430 replied to Beanzilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good Luck to you! I was asked to lose 50 pounds before surgery and did it with essentially a liquid diet for 4 weeks. You would be amazed at the weight you can lose doing that. Don't be discouraged. Not to get off topic and if this has been covered elsewhere please just post a link, but I notice a lot of people going to Mexico for this surgery is this simply a cost issue? I fought with insurance companies and the Vocational Rehab witht he state of Florida for almost 10 years to get this done. Finally new employment better insurance payed for the procedure, but only at a baratric center of excellence (Shands Hospital at UF). I am interested why people go international for this. Would it be easier to go to europe for this procedure? I understand that VSG is the standard for WLS there. -
Hbo: The Weight Of The Nation
Percepied430 replied to CamarilloCA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought this was really well done documentary and goes far to dispell the rumor that obesity is all about laziness and lack of self control. I think it could have done a much better job talking about the political and public policy implications of the issue as far as food policy and health care policy goes, but thats just me. It is a complicated issue that is for sure. -
Non Supportive Primary Care Doctor
Percepied430 replied to carlab51's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is unfortuantely common. As I tried unsuccessfully for years to get this surgery I dealt with my share of this. Your primary care Physician may have patients that have gained weight back. my sister had a RNY almost 10 years ago and has put weight back on. This is a truth about WLS it can and does happen. For a primary care physician to discourage you in my oppinion means she is not looking out for your best interest. All relevent scientific studies indicate that the improvments in your general health far out weigh the risks. I question her intellegence or her motives. The root of her bias be it ignorance or economics is really unpardonable and I would look for a new PCP. -
I am a man! Whats up? I am interested by the disproportion of females to males who have WLS.

I am also 6 weeks out, and have tried a few sips of wine here and there with no bad effects even tried a beer but only got through about a quarter of it, before it got warm and I lost interest. I have had no side effects. Since we still have our duodenum we wouldn't have the same reaction to alcohol that some one with a RNY woul dhave. I agree though don't over do it. I am interested to hear about trying Jack on ice. I was a big whickey person before surgery. I haven't had it in months do to pre op and none since surgery but I am interested in how it affected someone post op.

Hello everyone, This is my first post. I am 4 weeks out after having the surgery on April 30th. I have to admit I am feeling good. Getting into a good rhythm when it comes to eating and drinking. I am in the pureed stage and everyday its a little better. I am not sure how much weight I have lost, my post op exam is tomorrow and I am excited to see where I am. I started out at 567 the day I went to my initial surgical consult and when I left the hospital I weighed 521 so I use that as my starting weight. I am 30 years old and have been trying to get this surgery approved by one insurance company after another when I had private insurance as well throughthte state of Florida which resulted in a lot of hoop jumping but very little action, I finally got it approved with new insurance with my current employer and I couldn't be happier about.
