Slow Weight Loss Post Revision?
kspye replied to AmberK1026's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
thats a great point about the metabolism thing. I'm a revision, 6 weeks out and the past three weeks i've lost about a pound a week which i think makes me the slowest one on here. It is frustrating, especially when you see all the other people losing SO quickly. I think some of us just have slower metabolisms? It will just take longer I think -
I'm a revision b/c I only lost 20 lbs with the band and the sleeve is so much better. I'm 4 weeks out and have lost another 13 lbs with the sleeve. I'm a "slow" sleeve loser but at least I'm losing whereas with the band I stalled for 3 years. I had the hunger problem with the band and the sleeve has cured that. Good luck!!

I am so excited to hear your story...I was sleeved on 5/29 and have only lost a total of 10 lbs (3 pre op, 7 post op). I feel like I'm one of the slowest losers on here. Do you have a low BMI? I started at 248 and am now 238 which isn't that low so I figured I'd lose faster. I was right at 200 my entire adult life but after I had my 2nd child, my weight skyrocked for no real reason..I gained 40 lbs in 1 month right after her birth!. I think it must be related to hormones or something...which would explain my incredibly slow weight loss even when I'm only eating 800 calories/day? Anyway, I'm hoping I keep losing!

I had my revision 3 weeks ago and it wasn't too bad. I was up and walking after my revision like with the band. It wasn't as quick a recovery as the band but I was back to my normal routine within a week. With the band, I was outpatient and with the sleeve I spent one night at the hospital which was good. I had the revision all in one surgery. The first night was the hardest but the pain meds took care of that. I continued to take my pain meds for a few days after surgery--maybe 3 or 4 days? Don't let the pain factor scare you :-)

i had the band for 3 years and had no problems with it. My problem was that I only lost 25 pounds with it. It did nothing for my hunger. The sleeve seems to have helped curb my hunger.

about how many daily calories are you getting now that you're sleeved? Or do you count them at all?

I used plain hand lotion and mine rubbed off

I had my sleve on May 29th and everything is smooth so far but I'm noticing that my emotions are all over the place. Nothing major...just very happy some parts of the day and kind of empty feeling other parts. I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that I probably used to using food to make myself feel better before and I can't anymore? anyone else experience this?

Hi I jsut got my band to sleeve revision on May 29th. Recovery is good so far and I'm looking foward to going on this journey with other band to sleevers. I only lost 25 lbs with the band so I'm worried the sleeve won't work either but I'm following the plan well so far so hopefully i'll get to goal. I didn't have any problems with the band, it jus didn't control my apetite. My doctor said they sleeve would help with hunger so I'm hoping he's right. So far I've had no hunger bit its only been a few days since surgery. I also noticed the side effect that i'm not "hot" all the time anymore. I saw that someone else posted about this and its true! I love this side effect, especially since its summer in Texas for me! I look foward to getting to meet ya'll :-)

so far recovery has been smooth. Today is day 4 after surgery and I was out and driving today and off pain meds (I never would have believed that on day 2!) I just keep sipping and sipping crystal light and getting in the protein shakes. And, I've lost 4 pounds--yeah! That's huge after a 3 year stall with the band!

I love the Isopure powders...you have to mix with water but they mix really easily (I just shake them in a covered cup). I love the chocolate, cookies and creme and mint chocolate chip. I buy mine on amazon.com

I am a band-to-sleeve sleever. I had the lap band 3 years ago but only lost about 25 pounds. I'm hoping the sleeve will get me to my goal. I'm starting at 244 and my goal is 150 but I'd be happy at 180. I had my band out/sleeve in on May 29, 2012 so its been a few days and my recovery is going well. My biggest fear is that I won't lose any weight since the band didn't work for me. I'm looking forward to sharing my journey with you and following your blogs!

Hurting....when Does It End?
kspye replied to Luwanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was banded the 29th too! I'm also in alot of pain. If I take my pain meds every 4 hours like prescribed (my doctor prescribed loratab or something like that), the pain is managable but I keep trying to NOT take my meds and then I'm in serious pain. Getting up and sitting down are the hardest for me too. If I could just lay here all day it wouldn't be as bad but I have two kids who want constant attention and that's hard. I want to stop the pain meds asap because they make me groggy. good to meet you on here--there's a couple of us sleeved on May 29th :-) -

Tomorrow Is The Day- Getting The Crapband Out Of Me!
kspye replied to AmberK1026's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! I also had my band to sleeve surgery on May 29th! I've been super thirsty too..i just keep sipping and sipping. Sorry to hear about your drain..hopefully that will come out fast. Keep us posted! -
Hi--I will say that I had more pain with revision I think...but it has been 3 years so i'm not sure how accurate my memory is. Its wasn't that much more pain though. I'm glad I had the one night stay in the hospital though because the nurses really took good care of me. I was up and moving and had to go to the bathroom about every 2 hours after surgery due to the IV bags. My surgery was Tuesday and today is Thursday and I'm still taking pain meds but I think today will be my last day of pain meds. Its really not that bad. Most of the pain in the beginning was gas pain, not incision pain. They only time I have pain now is when I get up or sit down. So, overall, its not too bad. Hope that helps :-)

nice to meet yall--i'm so glad to meet other band to sleevers! I'm still on liquids but it does feel a little different, more natural if that makes sense. My appetite is gone so hopefully that will stay. My band did nothing to contol hunger so i'm hoping my sleeve will.

Hi I'm new to these forums and I just got my sleeve this past Tuesday. I was a band-to-sleeve revision and my doctor did it in one surgery. The first night was painful but so far everything is going well with recovery. I've been drinking my liquids and had no appetite--yeah! I was surprised that I hadn't lost any weight so far b/c I've been basically eating nothing for the past 4 days but maybe its due to all the bags of fluids they gave me? Anyways, I look forward to being on the boards and not being alone on my journey!
