Wondering if anyone knows a fill doctor in San Diego that is willing to do a fill on someone who was banded in Mexico.
-
Hi!I live in La Mesa. Oh and I see you are a Dr.Kuri patient. He did my surgery back in Nov of 03. Maybe when you go down for a fill we can cross the border together. Caroline

I can no longer have pizza, pasta but I can have some breads. I still have sub sandwiches but I have to take the top part of the bread off so it's not so thick and eat slowly. I can still chug water or any liquid as long as it is at room temperature. If any liquid is cold or has ice in it- it is painful to chug it down.

Hi ! I am so glad I found this thread. I think I am definitley the slowest loser of everyone. I have been banded 2 years and only lost 50 pounds. I was 250 when I started and look pretty good at 200 pounds but I still want to loose another 50lbs. At this point I would settle for at least 20. The good thing is that the scale stays put at 200 lbs week after week. Prior to the surgery I would gain and loose every other day-it was frusterating. I will admit I am awful at dieting and not disiplined enough to follow any kind of low carb diet. I just LOVE food and always will. Now I do exercise 5 days a week-kickboxing,spinning,pilates,running, etc but the scale just hangs out at 200 lbs. Even if I skip a week of exercising and am not watching what I eat-I stay at 200 lbs. Sometimes I get discouraged and wonder why do I even exercise but I do like how I feel and I am not so jiggily-lol Anyways I guess if I maybe was completley strict with my diet perhaps I could drop some more weight. Oh and as for getting a tighter fill-well I am one of those that can not tolerate too much fill or else I get really bad reflux. Caroline in San Diego

Hi I am from San Diego and my name is Caroline. It's been a while since Ihave posted on this site. I am 2 years out.

Thanks so much for replying.I will definiltey have to make some changes because I think I am pretty much washing away my food because I drink too soon after eating. How long has it been since you were unbanded? I am sorry but I have not been on the boards for a while and was wondering why you had to have your band removed.

It has been so long since I posted here. Last post was 11/2003 right after I got my surgery-can't believe how time has flown by. I love my band BUT have been stuck at my current weight since August. I have lost 50 pounds and that is it and yes i am greatfull BUT I need to loose more by next year so I can start preparing to get pregnant. My doctor told me she wants me to loose at least another 30 to 40 pounds before I get pregnant. I probally need another fill or maybe I am just eating totally wrong because the scale goes back and forth between 202 to 205 every week. Very Frusterating!!!!!! I actually started exercising alot since August- like 5 to 6 days a week for an hour a day. I do love it BUT hate that I am not seeing the scale go down. Since you have been banded longer than I have and have had good success can you give me some tips to restart the weight loss. I am getting worried that maybe 50 pounds is all I was meant to loose w/the band and I don't wanna except that yet. I am scheduled for a fill later in the month but in the past whenever I have gotten a little more fill than where I am at right now I get heartburn and then have to go back to get an unfill. That has also been frusterating because I never feel properly filled. I can still eat bread at this fill level and probally eat more than I should be but if I am still hungry I eat. Anyways I hope I can get some advice and I hope you don't mind me asking you for some advice? Caroline

I am 4 days post-op and still in my liquid phase but I got to thinking what is a food day like for a bandster who is now on solid food. Just curious to see what you guys are eating. My day so far is not that exciting-lol Water Then for Breakfast low fat whipped yougurt and some Jello Then been sipping juice and water off and on. lunch will be chicken broth-yippee Caroline 235/233 day of surgery/150-140 goal weight Dr.Kuri

Okay you made me feel normal-lol I like your doctors liquid diet better than mine. I have noticed every doctor has different post-op diets. I wonder why? I have been having this lowfat whipped yogurt w/jello for breakfast and that fils me up. But it dawned on me that I was not following one of the rules and that is don't drink while you are eating. It is not that I meant to do it but it is just a habit. Well now that I have stopped doing this I notice ia m full longer. Thanks again for the post and for making me realize that I am not the only one who has kind of not been perfect on the liquid phase. Caroline

I had my surgery Tuesday and was doing great and so far liquids are going down great w/no problems. Well today I started getting REALLY hungry and my stomach hurts from the hunger pangs and let me tell you the liquids are not doing it. Anyways today was Thanksgiving and I was bad! I feel like such a failure because I had mashed potatoes and some other mushy stuff that I know I should not be eating yet. It went down fine and all I noticd now is that I have alot more gas -my fault. I gave into the smells and the food all looked so good. Today was a bad day food wise but tomorrow I know I need to be good BUT I can't stand the hunger pain! Did any of you guys go through this? I hope I did not ruin the band. Caroline

I am 3 days post op and so hungry I almost started crying because my stomach hurt so bad. Then when we went to my mother in laws for thanksgiving I gave in and had mashed potatoes and some other stuff I know I should of not have eaten but it felt so nice so not feel the grumbling going on in my tummy. I have NO restriciton and I am feeling very frusterated because I am so hungry and want to follow the post-op diet as best as I can BUT how can I when I am STARVING. Caroline -
I am back from getting banded in Mexico

My surgery was Tuesday 25th of Nov and it all went great. Dr.Kuri is the best! He came in to see me 3 times yesterday to see how I was doing and then discharged me this morning around 9 am and the came back once again to say good bye.Very caring man! I stayed at the older facility he uses in TJ and I had to admit I was scared of the place but all fears are gone. The hospital staff was great to me and very acomodating to my mother who stayed with me a room that had 2 beds in it. I am more sore today than yesterday but I think it is because I won't sit still and I still have some gas pains going on. It is so weird to think I have not eaten anything in 2 days- well I guess tea and Jello count for something. Well thansk everyone for all the great info given here at this board and for all the nice words before I went off to surgery. Caroline - in San Diego 235/233/150 -

I am a total " HAP" as my husband likes to call me- HISPANIC AMERICAN PRINCESS-lol But I went inside the hospital and really checked out the facility. I am not a nurse yet, but a student nurse and made sure there was a crash cart available and anything else that would be needed in case of an emergency. I just felt so guilty making my poor hubby pay an extra 1,000, when I will only be there one night, Therefore I am going to bring my own pillow,blanket,towels-lol Yes I am spoiled too (= Caroline -
Thanks for the welcome. I can't wait to meet you all and help, which I am sure after wards I will have even more questions. Have you had any problems with your band? Caroline

Sue i am staying at the buget facility and he is having a special for 7,500 for the old hospital and 8,500 for the new hospital. I wanted to stay at the new hospital after seeing the old hospital but we just can't affod it and after reading posts from the other boards stating that their stay at the old hospital was fine and the service was EXCELLENT- then I figured it was going to be okay. How was your stay there? At the old hospital that is? Carmen - Congrats on your date and keep me posted and let meknow how it all went. Caroline -
I live in La Mesa and am going to be banded on Nov.25th by Dr.Kuri and I can not wait. I did join the yahoo San Diego bandsters group. I can not wait to meet you all soon (= Caroline
