  2. yep...same feelings here too...seemed like it took a couple of weeks before the pain really subsided and i would get an odd "tug" or some kind of sensation every now and then...I guess it was close to 3-4 weeks till I felt "normal"...and it was all from the "main" incision...oh ya, and it was definitely ITCHY!!
  3. If you have a leak, you will have a fever!! No leak test for me either!! Biggest "warning" to me was to stay on the prescribed diet!! DO NOT advance unless told and I definitely did not want to go back in for "repair", they tell us a story of a busted sleeve because someone had pineapple chunks too early...
  4. - If he cannot complete the VSG, do you want anything else?? 12. My sleeve loves to fish!! ok, seriously... My sleeve loves Protein drinks (chocolate) My sleeve loves soup, chicken, fish, milk, Water....darn near almost anything My sleeve hates refried Beans (which is a "food group" in SA!!) and other..."thick" foods...
  13. I have read a lot of posts of people that can't stomach Protein drinks, was wondering what Protein Drink you have made your favorite??? I personlly like the chocolate carnation instant Breakfast (sugar free) with a scoop of chocolate whey protein isolate and 16oz of skim milk...I have it everyday for breakfast. I fortunately am not lactose intolerent...I also like the EAS chocolate Protein Drinks and chocolate slim fast, both low carb!!
  14. Surgery date Oct 12, 325lbs at highest, 312 at surgery, 261 now...so down 51 since surgery...loving every minute of it!!! :Banane55:
  15. Like 5Mck said, each persons experience is probably a little different...but one thing that is ABSOLUTELY the same with ALL of us...is the importance of getting out of bed and walking ASAP!!! It really, really helps the recovery process. As far as the hospital say, i will be honest and say "my" experience was good, BUT, it was harder than I thought it would be...I have not been through any prior surgerys before other than ortho stuff on knees, shoulders, etc...the gas they fill your tummy with is not particuliarly pleasant and my main source of pain is the main incision...all that being said...the hospital is usually on top of it, they give you adequate pain relief and try and make your stay as comfortable as possible. The really good news is that your recovery curve is HUGE...each day you feel sooooooo much better!!! surgery date: Oct 12, 2011
  16. I wish I had the right words...to be completely honest...I am VERY scared that i will lose my way as well... I am pretty sure most of us here have lost weight...many times and gained it back...many times... I'll tell you how I look at it...I look at this opportunity as my last...I hate to say it and really hate to admit it...but thats how I feel...so, I take the journey 1 day at a time, each day presents its own battles, some you win, some you lose, but you fight every day!! I feel if I stop, even for a day, it will turn to two, and three and so and and then what???? i don't really want to go there, I can't go there... Find and fight your battle...
  17. Hey Knee, Yes, I had my surgery at BAMC on Oct 12, 2011. I forgot to add HEB mootopia...I like the chocolate for a "snack" at night...
  18. keep plugging away!! it gets better!!
  19. OOOOOOOOOO YA!! :Banane55: I totally gained weight during my pre WLS appointment days...I didn't really feel "guilty"...I guess it was my way of dealing with the big change coming...I even joked about a food "bucket list" to have before WLS...well that didn't quite happen, but you get the gist...BUT when that 2 week pre-op diet bell rang...it was all business!!! surgery date: Oct 12, 2011
  20. Well, I made it through my first post surgery Thanksgiving and felt great about it...I still filled my plate with a little of everything and ate a little of each and was satisfied as if I did my "traditional" plate refills!! I was a bit nervous getting on the scale today but lost 5 lbs this week...I made sure to keep up with my workouts and keep my "indulgements" to just that... surgery date: Oct 12, 2011

    Thanksgiving "survivor"!

Glad to hear others had such a great Thanksgiving as well...I even asked my wife if she was glad I didn't take here advice and wait till after the holidays to have my VSG...one of the best decsions I have made, now I can really enjoy the holidays and even do a little clothes shopping...which I am so stoked that it looks I am on the cusp of moving out of the XXL neighborhood!!!
  22. Took me 7 months to get through the wickets...didn't really "mind", felt I needed the time to get my head on straight before they started fixing my tummy... Looking back on it, it felt like it happened very quickly, so don't get disappointed...I am sure anything your doc is asking for is only for your safety and protection!! MH
