Anyone Have A Relatively Easy Recovery Story?
O.T.R. sleever replied to Birdy18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still remember my first post in this forum.it was something like, Is this too easy? I'm really afraid since this is causing me no real adversity that I am going to fail at this. Needless to say, I'm almost 11 weeks out & it is definately working, and I'm not a failure. I haven't had any real issues yet. -
Scared Yet Excited
O.T.R. sleever replied to ttisawsm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I wish I coul honestly tell you that there is nothing to be concerned about. But the truth is that there is the potential in any surgery for complications. The good news is that serious complications on a virgin stomach are very rare. Leaks rarely happen and when they do, they are repairable. I can say, my experience has been super smooth, but for some people the first month or two are just miserable The only deaths I have ever even heard of associated with this surgury were due to the patient severely abusing their sleeve. I can say, when I decided on this, I simply faced the reality that I really didn't have a life before the surgery, so what did I really have to lose? Nervousness & wondering if you are making the right decision are completely normal, and believe me, the last day or 2 before the surgery, you will be ready to pick up the phone and cancel at least a dozen times. But once it's done and you get past the initial adjustment and discomfort. It's all blue skies & rainbows OK, maybe not ALL blue skies & rainbows, but mostly, with an occasional rain cloud. -

First off, a marriage is never 50/50. If either one of you is only giving 50% it will never work. Secondly, I've seen the name God in this thread a couple times. Well, honestly if you believe in God then you might want to check the handbook. It's kinda the way God designed it, the mans "job" is to be a provider, and the woman is a "nurturer". I'm in no way saying that he shouldn't help, but to pick and choose what parts of the bible you want to accept and fill the rest in with modern secular feminism is quite inconsistent. Is he a good provider? Do you have to work a job outside of the home? And not because you may want to, does your family need it to get by? My wife & I have 3 kids. I have never changed a diaper. It is simply not something I can do, not because it's "women's work", I just find it so repulsive.

It's also known as sashimi grade tuna. Pretty much all tuna has the same Protein by weight, but I do agree the higher grades do taste better The lower is nutritional label from a starkist pack. Note 13g protien for 2oz so @ 5oz it would be 32.5g

Pet Peeve - Update Your Stats

To add the ticker, it has to be from the website. That's the only way to modify your signature. You can however see the ticker(if there is one) by simply touching the post in the app. This will open the post in a screen by itself. You can also update your ticker from the iPad app once you have one in place by simply touching your ticker, it will open a screen to perform the update Hope this helps -
11 Days Off Work Enough?
O.T.R. sleever replied to Laceyloveland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since you are a Dr. I assume regiment & discipline are something that you are use to. IMO if you can plan your nourishment throughout the day & stick to it, I think you will be fine. Not saying you'll be completely pain free, and in the groove, but by day 11 it will be so tolerable that you will want something to do. I'm a truck driver, and I believe I could have gone back to work in less than a week, the only reason I didn't is because of all the shaking and movement in the truck. -

Marijuana & Sleeve
O.T.R. sleever replied to PiggyPantsPaige's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be honest, your surgeon is not out to disqualify you. If you are honestly quitting, and if the question comes up, just tell them you recently quit. Problem solved. They are not going to refuse surgery because of it. Worst case scenario is if they have reason to believe that it will hinder your healing, they push your surgery out a couple weeks. Chances are though, if you quit today, by your surgery day, there would be no thc left in your system at all. -
Considerin Surgery In Mexico....?
O.T.R. sleever replied to ataylor's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery in Mexico on 05/23/12. I can say, if you hang around this forum for a while, you'll notice that there is typically less "problems" with surgeries that are performed in Mexico. Less complaints of pain, Less need for medications. The top dozen or so surgeons in Mexico have thousands of surgeries to each of their credits, a few of them actually teach American surgeons the procedure. I personally would rather have mine done in Mexico. These surgeries are almost always done as a package in Mexico. The two things that I would concentrate on if I were you(and I was you afew months ago) are. , do your research, find which doctor(s) you are comfortable with. Then compare facilities, packages, and prices. For me, price is always a factor. I believe that you get what you pay for only to a certain point, then you're paying for a name. My first choice was Dr. Aceves, he has an impeccable reputation & works out of one of the best facilities, but he charges 8750. After doing more research I found Dr. Ponce de Leon, his resume is equally impressive uses a great facility, not the newest, but well maintained & up to date. His packagewas very similar w/a little less "hand holding" and was 5500. This was the one I chose. There are may options in Mexico and I have even seen sleeve prices in the last few days as low as 4100. The price difference is usually due to facility & accommodations. -

Hunger With Sleeve Vs Band
O.T.R. sleever replied to timetobefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With the sleeve, at least for the first few months hunger is more a mental issue than a physical one(cravings). When the reduce the size if your stomach the remove the major portion that produces Gherin(sp) the chemical that produce the hunger sensation in our bodies. After a few months your body will adjust and you will feel hunger again. I am only 10 weeks out at this time, so all I can say is I have yet to experience hunger. -
How To Eat Fast Food With Vsg
O.T.R. sleever replied to ChristyLove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You avoid fast food as much as you can, but if you're in a pinch you can order: Burger w/o the bun(In&Out calls this "protien style") Grilled chicken sandwich w/o bun Chili (Wendy's) Fruit& yogurt parfait Steak or chicken burrito w/o rice (taco bell) eat the filling, discard the tortilla Pintos & cheese (Taco Bell) LJS has a grilled fish plate Most fast food places have something you can eat. But a recovering food addict going to fast food joints is tantamount to a crack fiend hanging out at a drug dealers house. Just not a good idea.
