Low cost, cash pay option
O.T.R. sleever replied to jacquelynn.mclean's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hospital stays in the US are prohibitively expensive. A 2 night stay in a hospital (like most Mexico surgeries ) could easily add $5-9K to your bill. -

Has anyone developed a leak by lifting?
O.T.R. sleever replied to gibson_girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Never heard of a leak by lifting. Your much more likely to tear the stitches at your incision sites with this activity. -
What do you consider reasonable? You can't go wrong with a Ninja for something in the $100-$150 range.

Benefits of increased Protein intake

First off ill say, DO NOT PURGE!! Purging has absolutely ZERO health benefit. Not only will you be compounding your food problems, the acids that you will be regurgitating will erode your esophagus and dissolve the enamel of your teeth. Now to address why your sleeve is not providing the restriction you need. What are you eating/drinking? If you have a properly formed sleeve then it is not going to stretch. Are you eating slider/comfort foods?

Yes, I have done juicing, however, I do not any longer, juicing tends to create a high sugar drink that contains almost no Fiber. I prefer at this point to retain as much fiber as I possibly can.

I'd recommend Syntrax' Nectar line.

Just wanted to clear this up. All dairy products that are sold in stores are "processed" upswing the strictest sense of the word. But creating low fat cheeses, yogurts, & other dairy products is done by filtering the fat from the milk base before processing it. I'm sure there are companies that do use a chemical process for certain products but this most often not the case. BTW, I personally believe that milk in general is not healthy, and dairy products in general should be used in moderation.

Why is my weight loss slowing down so much? HELP!
O.T.R. sleever replied to suzqlvq's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WoW, let me be the first to tell you that you are doing nothing wrong. The simple fact of the matter is that you have exited the "honeymoon" phase. The further out you get and the lighter you get the slower your loss will be. Everybody(that i know of) experiences a slowing of loss around the 5-7month mark. The good news is, as long as you continue to exercise & maintain a caloric deficit you will continue to lose, all be it at a slower pace. There are a few tricks you can use that you can use to your advantage though. Google the terms: Muscle confusion Caloric confusion Interval training The more you can keep your body guessing while still keeping it properly nourished the better your results will be. -
A Lil Confused..Calling All Experienced Sleevers!
O.T.R. sleever replied to biggie_smalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eat measured amounts. Don't test your sleeve for at least 6weeks. Once your staple line is completely healed (6 weeks) you can test your capacity some, but at one week it's just too risky -
Super Saturday Weigh In
O.T.R. sleever replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok, as you might have read in my confession, I had a slip and got back up to 196lbs(201 with cloths on). I'm back on track as of a couple weeks ago & I'm happy to report that as of this week I'm down to 190lbs. -
If I had a surgeon that removed less than all of the fundus from my stomach (approx 85% of the total stomach) I think he would be hearing from the state medical board. The whole point of this surgery is to creat a smaller, more restrictive stomach. Leaving fundus behind means that you could easily stretch your stomach back to its old dimensions. This is one of the major problems I have with RNY, the pouch is made from fundus, it starts about 2oz, but many people stretch it way out to he point they don't have restriction anymore. The sleeve once folly healed is about 8-10oz, that is plenty, many people are actually surprised at how much they can eat once all the swelling is gone.

All in all it's not bad. I think I'd add some banana flavor Protein powder to the milk though. Just watch the carbs. And be sure to measure the serving, cereal is really to overeat
-
VICTORY!!!!! Pre sleeve you wouldn't have even thought about it till after it was already eaten. Then if you were anything like me, you'd get depressed that you screwed up again and rationalized that since you already screwed up you might as well eat another one. Congratulations!!

There are many options to seize weight loss. You say you are only doing Proteins, what are you eating for Protein? Your body really needs a broader nutritional spectrum. Try adding nuts to your diet. They are a great source of health fats. You also really need dark green leafy veggies. Have you tried adding freshly made green smoothies to your diet? Last resort, if you do actually reach a point that you are significantly underweight there is Boost VHC (very high calorie) it packs over 500calories into 8oz shake. I really think that if you concentrate on rounding out your diet, your body will regulate itself to a healthy weight.

Does anyone have any barbeque tofu recipes? Or barbeque sauce that is appropiate for the sleeved? Thanks!
O.T.R. sleever replied to beachblondeee's topic in Soft (stage 3)
I love barbecue, though I think barbecue sauce is the kiss of death. I'd recommend using a rub. Dry smoking is the only way to go. -
Do you take financial advice from broke people? Until you have proven by example that you know how to maintain a healthy body nobody wants your advice. It sounds harsh, but really think about it. If an obviously unhealthy person tried giving you dietary advice, would you listen? The best thing you can do is focus on you. Talk about you. Celebrate your success openly, believe me , they are watching. Before you know it, they'll be asking you for advice. When they do don't shake your finger at them, relate to them. Look for things that they do that was also your problem. Tell them your story and let them connect the dots. You can point out a lot of problems when you point at yourself.

You might want to get 2 pair of shoes. Running/walking shoes are great for what they are designed for, but doing aerobics in running shoes will destroy them very quickly.
