What's Your Take On Artificial Sweeteners?
O.T.R. sleever replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I personally don't worry about it much. Rather than sweat every detail about sweetners, low fat, low carb, etc. I subscribe to the mindset of everything in moderation. If you have such a sweet tooth that moderation is unattainable, then I would probably stay away from artificial sweeteners as much as possible. As stated above stevia is a 100% natural low/no calorie sugar substitute. I would recomend getting it as the pure pressed oil rather than a powdered form there are tons of fillers in the powders. You can usually find it at your local health food store. -
Absolutely not. We are pretty simple creatures. If you are thin & fit, who cares if you needed a jump start to get you going.

Any Tennessee Sleevers Out There?
O.T.R. sleever replied to BigMommaNoMore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, hello. I'm originally from The 'boro, still get home several times a year. Mom's side of the family is mostly all still there. -
I personally don't like the dry feeling that isopure leaves behind. But I have several friends that enjoy the Alpine Punch flavor.

You also have to consider your Base Metabolism Rate (BMR) into the equation. Your body burns a certain amount of calories just existing. This varies foe everybody, but let's say yours is 800. Then add in your daily activity, any movement during the day from typing on a keyboard to walking around Wal-Mart. Let's say you burn 250 calories in normal daily activity. You have a pre-activity burn rate of 1050 calories. If you add 600 calories to that on an elliptical your total burn for the day is 1650. Now take your total consumed calories and deduct your total burn from that. Let's say you consumes 800cal. 800 - 1650 = 850- You end up with an 850 calorie deficit 3500 / 850 = 4.12 It would take 4.12 days to burn a pound of fat. Keep in mind your pre-activity burn is likely higher than 1050. I also have to say needing to burn 500 more calories more than you consume doesn't make any sense to me. If you only burned 100 calories over your intake you'd still lose weight. But it would take you 35 days to lose a pound.

Joplin, Mo Sleevers?

I bet you're right. It's really catching on in the trucking industry. And SW Missouri thrives on trucking. -
Mike, first off, let me say 20lbs in just over a week is incredible. I am sure many people would love to trade places with you. As someone who works in the medical field it'll be easy for you to verify this. So here goes. Estrogen is stored in fat cells, with you burning fat cells at an accelerated rate, your body is getting bombarded with estrogen thus putting you in a more emotional state. This emotional state most definately is affecting your perception of what is happening to you. You're gonna be fine. My wife has let me in on the fact hat I am much more temperamental than I was pre-op. unfortunately for her, this probably won't end till I hit my goal. Which means my jeweler & florist are gonna be getting a large percentage of my earnings for a while. Good luck with your journey.

Pain In Left Shoulder
O.T.R. sleever replied to sgmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be over it soon, more walking = faster recovery. Also, do you have breathing exercises? I was told early on that deep breathing exercises were needed. -
You will naturally lose the opposite of how you gain. If you gain in your butt & thighs first then hat is the last place it will go away. If you gain in the belly area first(like most of us guys, then that little pot belly will hang around to the bitter end. If gaining weight had minimal effect on your breast size the losing will also , however the opposite is also true. One thing that seems to ring true for most everybody is you'll notice the loss first in your extremities(hands, feet, & face). BTW, Floidays, I have to say, you look great.

You might have to start your own. I'd recommend going to the bypass group together. You might find a couple more sleevers hiding out there. -
