Restaurant Food Choices? 19 Days Post Op.
O.T.R. sleever replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went to Applebee's I just told my server that I don't eat potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, or anything fried. I ordered the portobello chicken, and the server substituted my potatoes for a large mushroom cap. I ended up taking 2/3 of the meal home, but everything I got fit into my diet. -
Actually it's the same for both sexes. 1000mg/day till age 50, then 1200mg/day after. http://www.osteoporosis.ca/index.php/ci_id/5535/la_id/1.htm That link might help some.

How Did You Tell Your Spouse About This Decision?
O.T.R. sleever replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can contact my surgeon by phone or Skype if I like, but honestly for the most part I just have my blood panels run & periodic exams by my local walk in clinic & I do a lot of research to educate myself. I've never really been a fan of doctors offices or hospitals, so unless I feel something isn't right I avoid going. -

How Did You Tell Your Spouse About This Decision?
O.T.R. sleever replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had pretty much made up my mind that I was going to do it. I told my wife I heard about this procedure and asked her to do a little research for me. As she researched it she became pretty comfortable with the idea, not that she was excited about it, but she wasn't really afraid of it either. She knew that having this surgery would increase both the quality & quantity of my life. Plus with her researching it and relaying what she found (most of which I had already found through my research) she was more comfortable feeling she was involved in the decision. -
Don't be surprised if that is exactly what it is, well kinda. You are losing fat at an accelerated rate, as the fat melts it releases stored estrogen into your blood stream. So even though you may not actually produce the excess amounts of estrogen anymore it is very possible that you could have some of the same symptoms from rapid weight loss.

Cant Wait To Get Below 300!
O.T.R. sleever replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes I think our bodies have a sick sense of humor. I started off at 289. Lost steadily till I hit 210. That was 5 weeks ago. 3 weeks at 210 then last week BAM!!! 205, to was sure I'd hit Onederland this week. Jumped on the scale yesterday morning and low & behold 205 again. We just gotta keep doing what we are supposed to do and our day will come. -

Unjury Unflavored
O.T.R. sleever replied to kjntwins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has a slight milky taste. Kinda like watered down powered milk. I personally use the unflavored to add protein to milk based foods like yogurt, cottage cheese, ranch dressing, etc. -

Newbie Intoduction And Question
O.T.R. sleever replied to moregoodtimes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the forum MGT, I will start by saying that all of your concerns are valid. I'm not really too familiar with insurance as I am for the most part self insured(I have a $15K deductible). What I am wondering is, do you know who you are going to be insured through & what plan you will have? If yes try enquiring what weight they will use, if you start the program before coverage begins will they honor Dr. supervised diets tgat started before coverage? Do they require previous verifiable weight loss attempts? Your proactivmess might just save you a couple months. -

When I use Protein bars I use Premier Nutrition Protein®. 30g protein and 270cal. Protein Bars shouldn't become a daily habit unless you are very active. But I do keep a few handy to keep from missing meals.

Is This Dehydration? Can I Drink Enough To Hydrate Or...
O.T.R. sleever replied to fattymcfatterson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does definitely sound like dehydration. Do you have someone there that can get you to the ER if you dont improve? If yes, I'd recommend Pedialite. Not the best tasting stuff out there but it is what we used in my wrestling days for rapid rehydration Don't play with this. If you can't improve relatively quickly go get an I.V. -
